You where just lucky they worked under MIUI.
The Headphone wire is used as an aerial, so you need to connect headphones for it to work. Connect a cheaper pair to it and route your audio to Bluetooth.
Edit: - If you have unlimited data or large plan, you could use a Radio app to stream your stations: -

Simple Radio is a nice alternative.
Transistor Radio if you're a minimalist.
Looking for an app for playing internet radio streams. I want to be able to add links to streams manually.
Preferably as simple as possible. Simple Radio is great, but a lot of stations are missing from the app and I can't add my own.
Edit: Should have said that I'm so used to Material Design now (or even Holo), that the app must be either. Judging from most of the apps related to radio streaming, apparently that's a rare sight.
You're looking for the a Simple Radio app. Supports AM and FM broadcasts, and is Chromecast compatible. Not all AM stations can be cast.

Edit: I haven't tried this with a sports broadcast yet, so I'm not sure if they do blackouts like TuneIn does.
Idk what you mean by “one off payment” but here’s what I use:
Simple Radio, made by Streema (blue icon with white rectangle radio). The ad-free version is a one-time payment of $2.99 on iOS or Google Play.
Make sure to check that the station you want to listen to is listed. If it isn’t, try contacting the station and let them know that you want them on Streema as listings are free and broadcaster-powered!
I has a similar concern. I ended up just paying the IAP for Simple Radio and switch to it in the mornings. Its streaming pretty good (I have unlimited T-Mobile data) It's worked great so far. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.streema.simpleradio
I don't understand your question entirely, but have a look at Simple Radio. It might do what you want. The ads are horrible but you can pay to remove them.

That's the link to the simple radio app, I'm in Australia so I'm not sure why it wouldn't be working for you, that's fuckin weird
I got sick of TuneIn and all its annoyances, and someone recommended me Simple Radio by Streema. It's nice and light: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.streema.simpleradio&hl=en
I love Simple Radio.
IMHO Simple Radio is the winer.
I just use Simple Radio. Works well enough
If I recall correctly, that's the application they promote on the show. I don't use it though since it has so much shit going on in the background.
What I use: http://streema.com/radios/play/3929

I haven't found a satisfactory app for learning cantonese. However, I've found that listening to Cantonese radio and watching cantonese youtube channels have been super helpful.
For radio I like to listen to * WZRC AM 1480: canto radio based in NYC * KMRB AM 1430: canto radio based in Pasadena You can download a radio streaming app. I use SimpleRadio on android but there may be better alternatives.
For youtube channels I mostly just watch cooking shows: * Cook King Room * Mama Cheung
I find that listening to both radio and the cooking youtube channels consistently really helped my pronunciation, vocab and auditory comprehension. Hope this is helpful, and good luck with learning Cantonese!
I use this on android for games https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.streema.simpleradio
I use Simple Radio and it works well for me :) Just search 'Japan' or 'NHK'.
Pedid, y se os dará: Simple Radio, by Streema.
Simple Radio. Best app for streams out there... I get the Ticket, ESPN, and the Fan easily and can flip to any of the feeds in a second.
