Solid Explorer hands down. Material version Alpha, http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/12/24/solid-explorer-2-0-alpha-goes-full-material-can-try-now/
Du borde avinstallera ES File Explorer pga det här. Ett bra alternativ är Solid Explorer.
Yes, that's why I said Holo era theme, not Holo theme. Which of course is super confusing and not clear at all.

Has he searched for the pictures yet using a file explorer like Solid Explorer? They're usually in the DCIM folder in internal storage.

Solid Explorer is a file manager. Plain and simple, it does exactly what Android should do in the first place. It lets you browse files on your phone just like you can in every goddamn PC OS from the past 25 years. Also, it has a built in dead-simple FTP server, so if you have FTP set up on your PC, you can copy files to your computer without plugging anything in. Costs 2 bucks. I think it's the only app I've paid money for, but fuck if I'm going to try to use my phone without it, especially after using it for the two week long trial period.
I use Solid Explorer to manage files on my N4. It is $1.99, but there is a full featured fourteen day trial. Before I bought Solid Explorer I used ES File Explorer.
Both support FTP transfer which makes it easy to manage files from any computer without having to install anything.
Try cleaning your USB port with a toothpick, using a different USB cable, and connecting to a different computer. If that doesn't fix your problem it probably is a hardware issue. Replacing the USB port isn't very difficult if you are careful.
> ES file explorer is one of the best in its category
I beg to differ and present you to Solid Explorer, you can grab the material design version from the beta.
You're probably using legacy version of Solid Explorer - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer
Here is the link for the newest version - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer2&hl=pt_PT
> Android TV as its SELinux and root is not accessible
On Android TV use something like Solid Explorer Classic and enable it's file sharing mode, that will share non-root files via SMB (KODI folder is not root), I've used this method on many AndroidTV boxes before.
(used to use ES Explorer, but it sucs now)
You can use a file explorer, on Android I like Solid Explorer.
Navigate to the folder where the KODI profile is:
Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/
That . infront of KODI means the folder is hidden so make sure to "Show Hidden Files" in your explorer. You can delete (or if you need to keep anything from it, backup / rename) that whole .kodi folder. You will loose everything you had setup if you delete it.
Solid Explorer can view your laptop's files under the "Manage Shortcuts" menu option. From there, select "SMB", then "scan" to find your laptop, enter your laptop username/password, then select it from the left panel. Navigate to your computer and you'll see all of your files.
I do this using the Classic version of Solid Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer
If you ever need GoogleDrive/OneDrive built into File Explorer, give Solid Explorer a try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer
Solid Explorer - My favorite file manager. So simple to use, yet so powerful. Check the G+ community for a beta that has a new material design.
Circa News - A simple news reader for somebody who doesn't follow a whole lot, but it's nice for it's breaking news notifications. You can follow stories you are interested in, and get notifications for them.
Switch UI - My favorite icon set yet. Vibrant, material colors, soft edges, and a hint of bevel for depth. Absolutely amazing.
Habitbull - A customizable habit tracker, with reminders, custom daily schedules, etc.
Awoken - Saw this in one of these threads a couple weeks ago and just gave it a try. Interesting concept, and it's already helping me remember my dreams better.
Solid has a classic version, if you're into simplicity.
Try using something like SolidExplorer to browse to where your .apk file is then run it.
Have you tried Solid Explorer? How would you compare the two?
Solid Explorer is IMO the best File Explorer for Android.
You could give a shot to Solid Explorer
As a file explorer i would recommend solid explorer
