Had my tonsils removed, this app kept me in communication with my parents. Kept it for the pranking potencial.
I am a mute/selective mute. I have a paralyzed vocal chord and at times if I talk to much I lose my voice. Sometimes I can feel the strain and I just have to stop talking, other times theres no warning and I cant do anything. It causes me to choke up sometimes. My family is now used to me not talking and just using gestures, body language, notes, and apps to communicate.
Yes, being mute is isolating. Half of what we say is the context, the tone of our voice. You can write things down when your mute but you lose a connection from not talking. At times it feels like a burden, like your less of a human being. Theres awkward pauses in conversations as you take time to type or write a message out. Yes people talk just to talk with little meaning. I have issues going to social gatherings because its people catching up over minor things or telling the same old jokes to get a rise out of someone. I've heard what some people have said several times by being around them but they have no problem constantly repeating it to other people. With my condition thats a waste of vocal use. I cant do it as much.
>Hi Guys, I would like to share my first app with you guys so that it may improve your life or the life of a loved one, even if its just a little bit. > >It is a text to speech app that changes from English to Spanish at the touch of a button. It basically speaks out through the phone's speakers what you type in. > >I made it with my girlfriend's uncle in mind, he is mute. So we sent him one of my older phones with the app already installed (He lives in Dominican Republic and didn't have a smartphone). I know there must be dozens of these apps in the PlayStore but as I looked at what was available, they all looked like apps developed in the Android 2.1 days. Either that or it didn't quite focus on the Text to Speech portion and tried to do many other things which made things convoluted. So I decided to make one that I would like to use, simple clean design and straight to the point. > >I also use this app to make fun of my friends when they make bad moves, while playing black ops III online. While most of them already caught on that its me already, Its still hilarious to hear the semi robotic voice saying things it wouldn't or shouldn't be saying lol. > >So if you guys know someone who is mute, or lost their voice due to an accident or is recovering from surgery, please share this app with them. Or if you just want to prank people on the mic and goof off while playing online games, download it for yourself. > >Thanks for your support <3 > >Link: > >https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onelldev.onellroman.speaktome > >Edit: App name is Speak for me, But I don't know why it doesn't come up when you search for it. It only comes up when you search for my Dev name, onelldev
