Swiftly Switch Pro. I feel naked without it. It puts two bars on the sides of the screen where you can swipe to access various functions. Things like recent apps, back, home, recents, contacts, app drawer, and more. Another person mentioned the app Side Bar Plus which is similar.
No love for Swiftly switch?
Very good app, dev is a redditor, very active and listens to suggestions, frequent updates etc.
I use it with Nova launcher.
Swiftly Switch Pro. Gives you access to 5 recently used apps, home and back buttons, and the app drawer at any time with one swipe. There's a free version as well.
I love Swiftly Switch Pro for that. There's also a free version but I haven't tried that one.
If you already have a set of apps you use most often, try this app so you don't even have to access your home screen / app drawer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.de_studio.recentappswitcher.pro
I use this mode: https://i.imgur.com/NfobiNH.jpg
Apps like this make it really hard to use iOS for me.
Swiftly Switch Pro. I feel naked without it. It puts two bars on the sides of the screen where you can swipe to access various functions. Things like recent apps, back, home, recents, contacts, app drawer, and more. Another person mentioned All In One gestures which is similar but has less features so I prefer Swiftly. There's a free version too.
I wouldn't either. Curved edges offer no additional functionality - they are purely cosmetic. I've had my S9 (coming from S7 flat) and am growing to appreciate the edge apps. But there's nothing about edge apps that can't be accomplished with a flat screen; I'm using the app Swiftly Switch Pro on my Tab S2, duplicating the edge apps concept on a flat screen.
It's not a feature yet in AOSP. OEMs implement it. You can too.

I use Swiftly switch pro since it was on sale couple of months ago. Extremely useful app imho, I can't imagine living without it now (:
I cannot live without these 2: Swiftly Switch Pro, Calc - A new kind of Calculator
It might be worth looking into Swiftly Switch, the free version should have more than enough for your needs and you'll be able to access app shortcuts without changing launchers.
It will let you swipe from the edge of the screen and launch Tasker tasks if you set it up that way.
The Edge App you're referring to is called Smart Select.
Swiftly Switch - Pro offers similar edge functionality, and includes basic screenshot capability, but nothing like Samsung's Smart Select.
True. It's one of the reasons why I used the Swiftly Switch app. I don't use it anymore because Samsung's App Edge does it job perfectly, but if you wish to remove your dock AND access your most used apps easily, Swiftly Switch is excellent.
Swiftly Switch works as a launcher when you're on any screen, not just Home. There's a free version, I use the paid one.
I set the navigation buttons to auto-hide on my Note 8, and use Swiftly Switch by sliding from left edge of the screen (where my thumb naturally rests) into different parts of the "pie" to go back, go home, go to last app, open recent apps list, etc. This is much more natural and easier to reach. The way iPhoneX does it, i.e. extending your finger all the way to the bottom of the screen and sliding up, is very awkward to be honest and there is no other way around this if you don't like how it works.
I use a similar thing i found here a while back, i believe the dev posted it here directly. I've had great luck with it and would recommend.

> Swiftly Switch is an edge app that improves your Android experience by allowing you to use your phone with one hand and making multitasking faster!
> Swiftly Switch runs in the background and can be easily accessed from any screen with just one swipe from edge screen. It's fast, battery friendly, highly customizable. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.de_studio.recentappswitcher.pro
The only things that are keeping me from switching over is the lack of event-based automation and the lack of navigation controls that I like (see swiftly switch). I'm good enough at Tasker that I can implement almost any feature that I want.
Swiftly Switch (navigation) and Bundled (notes / lists) are pretty great apps. It would also be helpful to know what your fav iPhone apps are and what you use your phone for.
I'm using this for more than 4 years as my main navigation system.

Working like a charm. I'm not sure how much it cost now. I bought it for a long time.
I prefer Swiftly Switch with a pop up app drawer like JINA or Total Launcher provide. Swiftly Switch can replace the recents button / menu and you can trigger a popup app drawer with it.
I don't ever have to press the home button or go to the recents menu unless I really want to.
Full OnePlus gestures with Swiftly Switch covering things that were missing, like quick access to split screen. I don't want to go back to using a nav bar.
I used to have LMT but currently using swiftly switch instead.
>For Reachability, there are some apps that do this but are very unstable.
Which ones are those?
>Reachability Cursor and Kiwi Browser
I have Reachability Cursor Pro. Dev for it disappeared 5-6mo ago shortly after initial release. No more updates or communications on reddit or xda. One of the issues I have is you can't change the swipe pad length.
Kiwi feature is nice, very similar to Niwatori xposed mod, but only works in the browser. I have other apps like reddit etc that would love to have that feature.
I highly recommend using a gesture based navigation app, or one that has a button mapping along the side of your thumb that pulls up nav buttons--my personal favorite is Swiftly Switch
I would also recommend using a reddit app that has swiping-right anywhere as a navigation option for going back--highly recommend Sync
I use Swiftly Switch quick actions to swipe down and left from anywhere on the right edge of the screen to drop the notification shade. Pretty sure the free version has this functionality. You can configure it however you want.
If you are interested in gestures, you can install Swiftly switch and give it a try. It's a bit like the side menu on the galaxy notes but it's infinitely customizable and doesn't need root.
I agree with a lot of what you're saying here. Just a few months ago, using Xposed and this app I've actually completely done away with the nav bar on my 6P. Only downside is I'm stuck on Marshmallow for the time being. Loving the extra screen real estate though.
I use Swiftly switch on the same device as yours, works great. It not as cool as GMD Gesture Control, which is also mentioned in other replies here, but unfortunately you need a rooted device :(
I've messed with that but I've been using this for a good while now. It goes way beyond the customization of that app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.de_studio.recentappswitcher.pro
It's not going to be the same thing but you can try using Swiftly Switch for similar functionality.
You can use some app instead. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.de_studio.recentappswitcher.pro
It's the app Swiftly Switch.
What are the advantages of this over Swiftly Switch?
Can't say enough about Swiftly Switch
No way. I just make a check, the sale doesn't exclude Ireland. Can you check it in the web?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.de_studio.recentappswitcher.pro
I really like Swiftly Switch Pro. There a free version, too. No root required. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.de_studio.recentappswitcher.pro
Swiftly switch : I make this app but I love it and use it every hours too. It make my life abit easier with my big phone.
Apple music : The price is only $3/month in my country, and I love for you playlist that it offer.
Nova launcher: fast, gesture, material,....
