Not a dumb question. There's an Android version you might want to look at if you can't get it on PC. No clue as to the quality of the port, and the device you play it on is obviously going to matter, but it's there.
Edit: Looks like you get the first season for free and the rest are purchased in-app. Probably a pretty good deal if you're on the fence.
Wow, almost all of the one-star reviews on this page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.telltalegames.walkingdead100&hl=en_US&showAllReviews=true. Just complaining about the first episode being free and the others have to be paid for.....
They both most certainly are! I highly recommend them. Also, you're very welcome! I enjoy sharing my discoveries and opinions about Android games with the community.
Since you're into story games, I would probably say go with Telltale's games. I don't own any of them myself but I hear they're really good, particularly The Walking Dead series.
The best story-driven game I do have experience with is Life is Strange. It's my favorite story-driven Android game hands-down, in spite of what people say about the visuals that pale in comparison to the PC and console versions. It's a fantastic game for the story alone. Definitely worth 10 dollars for the season pass imo.
Some of my favorites:
The Walking Dead - Telltale makes some really adventure games, but The Walking Dead is probably their best. Try the first episode for free and you can buy the rest after if you like it.
Pixel Dungeon - Rougelike, one of my favorite Android games. And it's free!
Final Fantasy VI - Needs no introduction. Pricey, but it's good, and on a 50% sale right now.
Spaceteam - If you'll be on this trip with friends who also have Android phones...get this now. It's a co-operative shouting game.
Game Dev Story - Fun little simulation game.
Ultraflow - Good time killer
Duet - Will drive you crazy
I'm seconding amateur-dentist's recommendation. Telltale has got some really good story based games worth checking out.
I recommend The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. You can also download emulators and check out a few more games:
It was released for the PSP, but you can just download PPSSPP and emulate it on your phone. As for the game itself, well, Google is your friend! (Psst: don't tell anyone I told you this, but searching "game title rom download" may help!)
The Nintendo DS is a handheld where you will find a good number of point-and-click titles with good stories. DraStic is my emulator of choice. It's paid, yes, but in my experience, it's worth it in the long run, just due to the fact that you get access to an awesome library of innovative games.
A few mentions; most (cough: all) are point-and-click games:
999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors is a point-and-click adventure game in which 9 people are forced to participate in The Nonary Game, run by a crazy dude in a gas mask called Zero. Awesome story with some really good twists. The puzzles are occasionally annoying, though.
Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is a detective noir-style point-and-click adventure. I loved the art style of this game, which reinforces the dark and gritty noire atmosphere. It's the magnum opus of all point-and-click games on this system and should be one of the first games you check out, if you're willing to shell out for DraStic.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is one of my all-time favorites. It's (you guessed it!) another point-and-click, but with a twist! As the title indicates, you're Phoenix Wright (which parent names his kid like that?) being an up-and-coming attorney just fresh out of law school. At the beginning of the game, you get your very first case: a murder case! And your old buddy from middle school is the suspect, whom your supposed to defend! Crazy prologue, huh?
So this game takes place in two halves: the first phase is a classic, you search for clues pertaining to the case, while the second phase takes place in the court room where you battle it out with the Prosecutor of every case, presenting your evidence, and squeezing the truth out of witnesses.
This game has got atmospheric tunes, innovative gameplay (though you better keep a guide on hand, since getting stuck with no clue on how to proceed forward is a sadly common thing), and fairly interesting cases, with lovely characters. In short, PLAY THIS GAME NOW!!!
Honestly, I'm always on the lookout for good games on mobile with a heavy focus on story, and this post kinda resonated with me, hence the reason for the big wall of text. I'll edit this (big maybe) to improve its readability, or add new games, I dunno.
Also, I don't currently know of many good story based games native to the mobile platform; so just dropping a request for that too here!
Almost definitely talking about the telltale games.

And they are amazing
The Telltale Games series available on Android are great fun and play really well with touch screen controls. Replay value really depends on how much you enjoy the characters but I've been through the first two seasons of the Walking Dead so often I can recite them by heart now.
Sega have the Shining Force Collection for free which contains Shining in the Darkness and Shining Force 1 & 2.
Kind of a game but not quite would be the Lone Wolf Saga. The entire series of books has been made available to read/play on Android and is completely free. You can donate for what are effectively save states if you want to but it isn't needed to have a good time.
