> Ideally I'd use my phone, walk around, stop in front of a house, and use my GPS Location to enter in a house/business address ### wiħ an auto-suggestion for what street I am currently on.
Look into the Vespucci app (OSM editor) for that. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.blau.android
I just installed it, "Efficiently Adding Addresses
Vespucci has an "add address tags" function that tries to make surveying addresses more efficient. It can be selected:
after a long press: Vespucci will add a node at the location and make a best guess at the house number and add address tags that you have been lately been using. If the node is on a building outline it will automatically add a "entrance=yes" tag to the node. The tag editor will open for the object in question and let you make any necessary further changes.in the node/way selected modes: Vespucci will add address tags as above and start the tag editor.in the tag editor.
House number prediction typically requires at least two house numbers on each side of the road to be entered to work, the more numbers present in the data the better."
An excellent point. Also adding details for campsites that are already on the map: the campsite name (surprisingly often a campsite is on the OSM map, but not its name so one can Google it), the cost, how many stars or how deluxe, phone #, website, whether it is seasonal. That info is often surprisingly hard to find, often I'd be riding to a campsite icon on OSMAnd and not know if it was going to be free, or cost 25 euros, or I'd be using limited cell data to do google searches. And definitely delete things that are on the map but not there or correct, to avoid some poor bastard biking late in the day to a campsite that turns out is closed.
On a I have found Vespucci to be the best way to do additions and edits on the spot with Android, although still not entirely intuitive -- another video I should perhaps make.
With a computer, JOSM is a cross-platform program for editing, here is a video for adding a drinking fountain (but would be same idea for campsite or its details). Openstreetmap.org also works to edit.
There are some Android apps to edit OSM, like this one or this one, very easy to use
I don't know if it's what you're looking for?
Both of them are available on F-Droid too ;)
Ah, never tried it on mobile (I've got PC at home, laptop elsewhere). It's not a AR game/app, you can edit it when you're back at your place.
Seems like you can use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.blau.android&hl=en_GB (not sure what does the job for iOS).
A wonderful piece of software. Takes a little while to master it, but then it flies.
There is Vespucci but I have only used it once.
I like Vespucci for Android. It has a steep learning curve though.
Warum wurde Vespucci nicht erwähnt? Mein lieblings-OSM APP.
There is Vespucci app for us too.
While you're at it, get Vespucci and see if you can find anything to add or fix on OpenStreetMap.
