I'll give it a shot! In the meantime i'll give you my recommendation.
My favourite rythm game is definitely VOEZ (link). It's so beautiful and complex and amazing. There are some songs I don't like in it though.
If you like musical rythym games, then VOEZ is absolutely worth your time. It's got this anime theme, but even if that's not your thing it's still worth a look.
It's worth noting that Metal Gear Solid 2 is on PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS Vita, Gamecube, and a variety of others. I don't know what your budget is but a Gamecube can be bought used for about 50 bucks in local stores around here and MGS Twin Snakes is about 15-20 bucks in local stores around here, also used.
While I prefer 2, most people prefer 3 which is on everything I mentioned but also 3DS.
Your Wii should be able to play Gamecube games. AFIK there's no reason to play the PS2 version of MGS 2 over any other version. In fact, I've heard Twin Snakes is quite nice. I personally enjoyed the PS Vita versions of MGS 2 and 3 quite a bit as well.
As far as your enjoyment of Rythm games and mobile games, my friends have been pretty into this Rythm game lately https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rayark.valkyrie&hl=en
Well, it doesn't meet the Portait mode, but in terms of how Piano Tiles is:
VOEZ - iOS Store / Android Store
Hands down fav game of that style. I think it will fit your taste. :)
Speaking of music I've been playing VOEZ recently, it's a rhythm game made by Rayark (the same one who made Cytus and Deemo) so far i'm loving it :)
I'm a bit of a rhythm game enthusiast so here's a list of some mobile rhythm games that I've enjoyed.
VOEZ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rayark.valkyrie - This is the newest rhythm game made by the same developers of Cytus and Deemo. They went for an online-only model with free songs that cycle every week or so. Gameplay feels more like Deemo but with more colors.
EatBeat DeadSpike-san https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arc.deadspike - This is a much more obscure rhythm game made by Arc System Works that's a fun little spin-off to their BlazBlue fighting game series. It's a really short and simple rhythm game that only uses 2 buttons.
Tone Sphere https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bit192labs.tonesphere - If you're familiar with OSU! on PC/mobile, then this game might be up your alley. The best thing about this game is that all the songs are completely free; you just have to unlock harder difficulties of the songs. There are also no ads and is playable offline.

I ninja-edited my post just after submitting, but the game's called VOEZ and is besides mobile phones also available on the Switch. No stamina system or anything. The free base game has just over a dozen or so songs, but otherwise songs are €1.09 (~$1.30) each which is kinda expensive... But on the Switch the game's just $25 and you get all songs (which is about 190 songs)
Songs are pretty much almost all electronic music (from dubstep to electropop), which is kinda a bummer (I don't dislike it, but hundreds of that...)
The developer (Rayark) also has another mobile rhythm game called Cytus which also has some interesting gameplay and has about 110 songs for free and another 100 as in-app purchases
VOEZ | 4.4 rating | Free with IAP | 1,000,000+ downloads | Search manually
> VOEZ invites you to embark on the remarkable journey of teenage dreams, Following after Cytus and Deemo, two titles that took the world by storm, Bringing out the most of Rayark’s developing forces is the rhythm game ...

Voez for Android/iOS is a fantastic rhythm game, especially considering that it's a freemium download. I discovered it on the Nintendo Switch eshop and bought the full version there with all songs unlocked, but I've played the free version for phone/tablet as well and that holds up pretty well on its own.
Some of the nicer features I like about Voez:
