I love your journaling analysis, I think it's so important to acknowledge your small daily accomplishments when it comes to the bigger picture!
also meditate using the Breathe app since it provides a metronome and visual breathing line for breathing in, holding, and breathing out. Sometimes I rely on listening to my dog's breathing to help slow mine when I feel panicked.
In terms of exercise for myself, I've made a commitment to walk at least 1 mile every day with my dog & I use the MapmyWalk app by Under Amour to track my distance. I agree that it's extremely noticable how much exercise affects my mental health when I'm unable to take my walk.
Ok glad to hear I'm not the only one! And I actually think I might have found a possible fix today if you want to try it.
I have some private clients and for them I track the walk using the MapMyWalk app, which never has any of the zig-zagging issues the Wag app does. Earlier today I was on a walk that was zig-zagging like crazy so my thought was that I'd turn on MapMyWalk and send a screenshot of that map to the owner so they'd have a more accurate map of at least half the walk...but it turns out that once I started tracking with MapMyWalk, the Wag GPS stopped zig-zagging.
My theory is that when MapMyWalk is active, it somehow turns off any battery-saving/optimization settings on the phone's GPS radio (something the Wag app doesn't do)...so if you start GPS tracking with MapMyWalk before starting the walk in the Wag app, the Wag app GPS won't zig-zag.
Try this if you can next time and report back if it works!
I use Map My Walk for mapping walks for my non-Wag clients. It even has a "Dog Walk" option
As for tracking miles, Stride is the gold standard
> I just don't walk quickly enough to burn a lot of calories,
That was my problem. Walking with the dog makes it slower!
I walk at a minimum 5 km.hour or 3.1 miles per hour. I use an app "MapMyFitness" to check pace. You don't need to be obsessive, you soon learn the pace you need. There seems to be a critical pace when fat loss starts. I do 40-50 minutes.
I also swim 50 minutes some days, so all up I exercise 5 days per week.
I also have kettle bells which allows you do do a "full body" gym workout. I also use a Reebok Step for step aerobics. These two occupy little space.
I use this

Its a fitness app so yea you get calories and all that bs but it does map your walks and shows you routes others around you take which is nice for finding new places.
Will this work for a GPS tracking app for this event?

Mapmyrun is basically the same.
