I haven't used Yahoo in any capacity in a very long time, with one exception: Aviate Launcher for Android. Still my favorite launcher, hands down, cause its small, clean and allows for different icon packs, and its the only one I can find that automatically categorizes my apps as I download them. Technically it's not even by Yahoo though. Aviate made it and then Yahoo bought Aviate.
I use Aviate Launcher which automatically categorizes apps into the following categories:
Those are the only categories I use, but it also has:
well there is always Yahoo Aviate Launcher if you want to try something different ... But for me it lacks customization options.
I'm using Aviate. It's not really customizable but I love the way it is showing me all my apps. I used several other launcher too but I keep coming back to this one. You really should give it a try.
Just want to note, for anyone having issues with icons disappearing from from the launcher, Yahoo! Aviate is a launcher that seems to get around this in a way. It's layout is much different than Pixel, Now, or Go launchers. But if it works for you, it may be worth a try.
When the device is first started & unlocked, icons for apps on the SD card are replaced with a placeholder. Tapping a placeholder icon opens the app store for re-installation because it's registered as missing/uninstalled (or something like that). But you shouldn't need to do that because once the SD card is finally mounted, the regular icons will re-appear. That's my experience with it anyway.
Would be nice to know how it does this so that it could be implemented in other launchers. Not sure if it is open source though.
Edit: Not much available as far as homepage/support goes. The homepage link (aviate.yahoo.com) just redirects back to to yahoo.com. There is a help page, but I don't think it has any info on licensing.
~~It basically sets up your home screens for different phases of your life. Morning. Work. Evening. Workout. Driving. Etc. I personally don't have that complicated of a life to need all that shit.~~ Nope. Chuck Testa.
I was thinking of https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tul.aviate which has been turned into an abomination by Yahoo since it was popular years ago.
I think that a launcher that you will like is the Yahoo Aiviate Launcher. This launcher organizes your apps by what they do. For example, social media apps like Facebook and Twitter are grouped together, and games are grouped together.
check into the Samsung Mega. It is a 6.3, so big, easy to hold, and has a pretty low/moderate resolution screen, so things won't appear tiny. Fairly affordable, and you can just toss whatever easy to use launcher on it for her use (I have my mom using the Yahoo Aviate launcher since it groups things together fairly nicely and she can just slide from screen to screen instead of always looking for "buttons").
You can set the messages app as your default SMS app so that you don't get SMS in hangouts.
Imessages is known to mess up SMS super bad when using an android phone. You would have to call apple or find some way turn disable the imessages service.
One thing I really like about android is that you can download things on the market called launchers which completely change the way the phone looks and feels. Stock is an open canvas but if you download something like say, Aviate launcher it'll set up a whole different premade experience.
I'm not sure what "my library" is
I really like the Aviate laucher (Yahoo bought it now). It's like Smart Launcher, but has profiles that you can define and they activate by themselves, eg:
And so on, I set it up to switch around 6 profiles per day.

I'm in the same boat. Giving serious thought to the edge, but I think I'll cross my fingers for the m10. My m7 is still running beautifully for 1.5 - 2 days with aviate launcher and a few battery saving profiles.
Aviate is a launcher that initially was invite only, they were boughyt by Yahoo! a while back and finally released the full product.
This is the one, and it actually used to be pretty nifty, at least before their acquisition: Yahoo Aviate Launcher
I've been using Aviate for a couple of years now and I just can't go back to any other launcher.
Aviate. By far my favourite. It's really difficult to go back to other launchers after getting used to it.
Aviate. I like how the launcher organizes apps so much better than Samsung's TouchWiz. It feels like it makes my phone more useful.
