If you want to keep the phone for 5 years, just get an iPhone. Save some dough, and get last year’s model: Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, 64GB, Midnight Green - Fully Unlocked (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZQS6LPZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_0P2WHC1H4DE8G4ZHX59W
Save even more dough, and get the PREVIOUS year’s model: Apple iPhone XS Max, Fully Unlocked, 256 GB - Gold (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KFN43WC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_66W99Z5ZZ0AXV89H7B16
Be aware that the iPhone XS Max is a few years old already, though, so you might not get 5 years out of it. But you can get one for $500 (roughly)!
Look into the top China brands, i own a Vernee Thor which i recommend and just ordered a Ulefone Vienna. It`s a german site unfortunately, but here you can order a lot of Xiaomi devices for special prices:
http://www.chinahandys.net/xiaomi-smartphones-im-angebot/
There`s a sale on at gearbest, also, with lots of interesting phones:
I can only recommend to inform yourself about phones like Vernee Apollo Lite, UMI Fair (~$70 on eBay!) and the like.
Lots of alternatives to Samsung, Apple & co. with outstanding specs IMO; my current S6 will be my last Samsung device!
> not looking at phones without removable battery's.
Well, in 2018, that's going to rule out most of your options. MOst of which are going to be budget phones.
They are changing the screen ratios, so the diagonals are getting larger.
A 5-inch wide 9:16 ratio phone is the same width as 5.85-inch a 9:19.5-inch "notch" phone.
It's the same phone, just taller.
<strong><em>Here are some of the newer devices that fit into that category.</em></strong>
The 6.1-inch Rumoured iPhone with 9:19.5-inch screen should have the same outside width of the 4-inch 9:16 iPhone SE.
It still burns. It's a natural cycle of degradation on AMOLED screen, it degrades overtime, so say after a year or a year and a half or maybe more you might think that the color of a new Moto X will be richer as compared to yours.
Though the life has been considerably improved with the newer phones like the Samsung Note 4 and Samsung S6.
I personally prefer AMOLED screens and i have been spoiled by it, so it drops down to your preference.
Found an article which you might want to give a read for more info. (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/save-screen-prevent-burn-in-amoled-screens/)
Been using my Samsung Note 2 for about a year and a half and so far have not encountered any issues with the screen.
It matters what your definition of "best" is.
As far as consumer-based Android phones go, I've isolated devices to 8GB+ RAM, 64GB+ storage, and Oreo: link
As far as Apple goes, iPhone X is the "best" of the line.
If you want indestructible phones, choose Sonim or Cat.
Vertu phones are fancy looking and pretty basic, but they come with a concierge service that gets you into invitation-only events, hotels, concerts, and meetings with world leaders. They cost $8,000-$40,000
Refurbished Pixel 2XL on Amazon for $399 or you get get a brand new Pixel 2 for $399
It's an amazing phone and would still keep you in the Google family. Guaranteed updates, great performance, awesome camera.
Hey I noticed nobody has seen this post, so i'll take a stab at it. The Galaxy is a nice phone, however it does have flaws, you can find its review here http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-nexus-review/ . The iphone is a solid phone however it is very restrictive and there are many privacy issues with that pesky Siri. Im sure you can find reviews yourself for the iPhone as it is the biggest smartphone currently. My personal opinion - Fuck Apple, find something else, maybe not the nexus but apple is the devil in terms of business.
I actually used that. This is what I have when I'm more flexible on the battery life.
If I try to go to 3500 miliamp, I get: this.
Battery is a little on the lower end, but overall that does meet all the criteria I set. Only problem is I don't think it's possible for me to get it in the US. :(
Here's a site I found that allows filtering: https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?nYearMin=2017&chk35mm=selected&nBatCapacityMin=3000&sAvailabilities=1&idCardslot=1&idBatRemovable=1
But they don't have an "available in X country" option sadly.
If you're into a budget phone with decent specs that will be reliable the Honor 4A is on a slight discount over at gearbest
Seems to me that would meet all the requirements for what she does and you wouldn't need to wait either!
Note 6 pro has better 4g, bigger screen, OTG and is more up to date, other than that I don't see much difference
See the comparison: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9333&idPhone2=8893
That's about where I'm at. I'd probably go up to around $300 if the phone were stupid good.
I did this over on GSM Arena - it's a good place to start. :)
Run away from Mediatek. I will not buy a Meditek processor again. It is really bad when comparing to Snapdragon.
I think this may be enough for you. But yet again, I'm currently waiting for One Plus 3 and I will buy a snapdragon phone with at least 2Gb RAM.
It might a bit more but Xiaomi Mi A1(https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_a1-8776.php) should fit your need. It is small, price a bit over $200, good battery life and Lineage compatible.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro (AI Global Rom) might be the one you're looking for. Mine has been reliable and snappy since day one.
Snapdragon 636, 12+5MP rear camera, 13mp front camera, 5.99'' screen, Android Oreo out of the box.
https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_5_ai_dual_camera-9120.php
Yes, the Redmi Note 6 is out, but its essentially the same phone unless you're going for the new 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM option. And it has a notch.
The Note 5 AI/Pro is for sale in Europe for around 230€, I believe.
If you live in the US lumia 640 is a great phone at $30
Decent camera great battery life, and windows 10 compatible
You'll have what's app but app availability is somewhat limited you can check the app store online to see if it meets your app requirements
Otherwise lumia 830 is also pretty decent almost identical but better camera and sexier IMO and not too much more expensive
Otherwise you'll find better cameras on higher end android devices each Company have their unique UI( as you probably already know) See which one you prefer
And you always have iphones but they're overpriced for what they offer in my opinion
They are but they have skins on most of them. That's why I think android one phones are superior. Some of those companies do also have android one phones.

Nevermind, found this super handy chart!
LG G5 is looking pretty good.. Although I might wait to see if the LG V20 will have removable battery.. shame none of the new Samsung phones have it..
You're right unless there are multiple different SKUs that support other bands.
https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/CA/xiaomi-pocophone-f1
That's for Canada but generally the same for the US for band usage.
https://www.amazon.com/Shure-SE215-K-UNI-Isolating-Earphones-Android/dp/B07CH63ZSM/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=shure%2Bearbuds&qid=1620574619&sr=8-2&th=1 these are an example but I'm not sure if they're very good. but also 80$. not sure how much that is for you. you should mention a budget!
If you buy from google at least in the US they offer no interest financing over 12 months for purchases over $300. Think it was even 24 months when I bought my 3a. Just had $17 come out of my bank account automatically until the balance was paid. https://store.google.com/us/magazine/financing. You could also get something like this on any android phone with type c. If that's an option https://www.amazon.com/USB-3-5mm-Headphone-Adapter-Compatible/dp/B083LC9WMB/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=usb+type+c+dac&qid=1611071060&sr=8-5
The V20 supports the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 standard, so any charger that meets that will charge your phone as fast as possible.
I am not sure how Amazon UK selection compares with Amazon US, but a quick search for "Quick Charge 3.0 charger" brings up several good options. The Aukey and Anker brands are reliable and priced fairly.
As for cables, Anker Powerline and Powerline+ cables are reviewed well, and have served me well.
The OnePlus 6 certainly isn't a bad option at all, but just in case you wanted a few other choices:
LG just also announced an Android One version of their G7 which will have stock android at a lower price than their normal flagships. And of course, there's always an iphone 6/7 if you want just a simple reliable phone (with arguably better service/support options than any android out there currently).
The Nokia 7.1 is only $349 on Amazon right now.
Also, if you’re looking for used device, you should be able to get an S8 or maybe an S9 for that price.
Also, look for LG V30/V30+ - they have been on sale lately. Even a used G7 goes for $400 or less on Swappa.
If you're ok with at&t or TMobile, the s10e international model can be had for about 600 to 650 usd depending on the time. Amazon link:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NZY57X1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mLIYCbCRQRQW8
You're wants are really hard to find all in one phone. So while others here are suggesting phones without a jack, I'll suggest a phone that is a little cluttered in software.
The S10e.
You do have to put up with Samsung's software, but if you're on an at&t or tmobile network in the us, you can pick up an international version for around 600 usd new on Amazon:
Here's one for 550 usd: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NZVM3RN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qXqcDbTW4AT1P
Here's the us version for 630, don't know why, I haven't seen it that low.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N4M495N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mYqcDbMY3K303
Other than main features, this phone is like the base phone people should build off of. It's got every basic feature that you find on almost all phones, but done at a great quality. Stereo speakers, waterproofing, the headphone jack, good screen, super fast fingerprint scanner, I could go on, but to me, it checks 90% of the boxes, and it seems like it would closely meet you're wants.
If you want to go lower end, like 400 usd, the pixel 3a is the front-runner, and I think it matches your needs.
If you do want to go a little more expensive, the s10e is like the base that all flagship phones should build off of. If you're in the us and use at&t or tmobile, you can get an international version for 550 usd off of Amazon new. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NZVM3RN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_OTljDb38CZP15
The OnePlus 7 is an option too, but I don't know too much about it.
i think a Samsung Galaxy S5 for $ 94 is good
if you care nothing about camera, Motorola has good budget offerings.
$250 new, but you can usually get an 'amazon warehouse' in 'very good' condition for around $200.
the camera isn't garbage but its not really good like an iphone.
you could always get a newer iphone on swappa too. can probably get a decent used iphone 8 around $200.
I've only used Private Internet Access and have been happy with it. The reason I signed up with them was their pricing was the best at the time, they support Net Neutrality, and are overall a company that fully supports privacy rights in general. I haven't used the service outside the US though so you'll probably want to find some input from somebody who has.
Yes, and it might actually be easier. Get a dongle splitter like this one (make sure you get one compatible with whichever phone you get, since some are different), then keep your aux cord and charger plugged into the dongle all the time. Then you just need to plug in the dongle to your phone and you're good to go with only one thing to plug in instead of two.
> Maybe a different technology than Qualcomm's, but I definitely get a quick charging notifixation when charging my phone
Actually, I think it does and that's my mistake. I had a ZF2 Laser, which didn't have QC, but it looks like Asus did license QC for the normal ZF2.
So you'll get faster charging with an actual Quickcharge-compatible battery like this one.
I haven't used any of the mentioned phones, but I've been looking at them for a while because I also like more compact phones.
Personally (no experience with Apple), I would favour the Galaxy s10e (Review) or go with XZ2 Compact (Review), even though it does not have a headphone jack. Both seem to be really good phones.
I always wanted a 3.5mm jack, but decided to buy a phone without one. I bought 3 "usb-c to 3.5mm" adaptors and just keep one connected to the headphone cable, one connected to the 3.5mm cable in my car and one in my office. That way, I find it pretty manageable.
Hi All, I've been doing quite a bit of research and found a company poetic that does Motorola Edge Plus 2022 cases, the Edge Plus 2022 is the same phone as the Edge 30 Pro except it is the US version with the 60 watt charger. I did contact poetic to confirm this they said they would get back to me but didn't but i checked all the specs and ordered the case and fitted perfectly, best is to buy from amazon as it will come from the U.S to your country, for me it was shipped to Australia and only took 1.5 weeks. https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B09YTSDSVK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (Poetic Guardian Case) Poetic Guardian Series Case Designed for Motorola Moto Edge Plus 5G 6.7" (2022) / Edge+ 5G UW (2022), Full-Body Hybrid Shockproof Bumper Cover with Built-in Screen Protector, Blue/Clear
> terminate any background program hogging too much RAM
The android system already manages background memory useage, and will clear from memory as necessary. You want your ram to be mostly full, because that means that the apps are ready to run at the speed of RAM, rather than having to load from the slower SD card.

I would say look at renewed / refurbished items. How about oneplus 9? Not sure if it works with your carrier though.
https://www.amazon.com/OnePlus-Unlocked-Android-Smartphone-Version/dp/B0966S5BGZ
I've been looking at iPhone SE & Pixel 4A.
I also just found this: https://www.amazon.com/Xiaomi-DotDisplay-Qualcomm-Snapdragon-Smartphone/dp/B0881TTJT6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=288MQ5SX7LW67&keywords=Xiaomi%2BRedmi%2BNote%2B9%2BPro&qid=1659829562&sprefix=xiaomi%2Bredmi%2Bnote%2B9%2Bpro%2Caps%2C121&sr=8-1&th=1
It's about $225 for me to get a "renewed" (used?) iPhone SE or Pixel 4A on Amazon with the same storage (I want 128gb)
This one seems to be brand new and is $204. How do you think the camera compares to the pixel or iphone?
If I remember correctly, the thread I found it in ppl were talking about how it uses gcam processing software and the camera is really good? Idk, I'm def super out of my depth on this stuff so I'm trying to get as many opinions as I can
I'd check out the Sony Xperia line up. The 5 iii is currently about 800 usd (~750 euros), has most of the features of a gaming phone but has the sleek styling of a traditional phone.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091XR54FH/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_49Q93BRCBV4R3S5AN77Z?psc=1
Good luck in your search!
This for 300 is a bargain. Won't get a better camera for this price. Nice screen, checks all your boxes. Just double check with carrier for compatibility
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R61G69Q/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_A1TY3DMGM5FJ52B2J1ZP
Here's a list of all the units with top-end chipsets, Android Pie, 6GB RAM, and 128GB+ storage.
I'd stick with a Pixel that gets long updates. Samsung has been giving people better updates after having a long history of not making them available. Buying the device from the manufacturer (in your country) instead of the carrier means getting OTA updates directly.
There are lots of great options here.
This really should be a bot, but I have no time to code one...
I love the 4:3 ratios myself as they are the best for document management. Lots of Blackberry fans love the 1:1 ratio but Android Apps misbehave on square screens.
The Key1/Key2 models have a 2:3 inch screen with keyboard, and that appears to work well. Except for the LE version, the keyboard also acts as a scroll pad which makes sense and saves on battery.
I like the 9:16 for media, and it's an ok, substitution, but I absolutely agree that 21:9 makes no sense at all.

They just remind me of this https://www.gsmarena.com/lg_bl40_new_chocolate-2916.php which failed properly.
https://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_7-9513.php
Here's the link for the specs.
It does have a headphone jack.
The downside I see is that it isn't Apple but I think you will happily as I was when I switched from Iphone 6 to Redmi Note 7.
You could even consider the Redmi Note 7 Pro if you game more as it has a better CPU and GPU.
Maybe consider a phone running KaiOS (https://www.gsmarena.com/kaios_to_get_google_maps_youtube_search_and_assistant-news-31944.php)?
They aren't quite "dumb" phones, but they aren't traditional smartphones either. They typically run on lower end hardware, and have numpad keyboards like the Nokia's of old.
Don't forget the LG V20. Rugged device (MIL-SPEC).

Also, those aren't the only options... More Phones
Pixel 3a doesn't have upgradeable storage, but it does come with 64GB, and it's got 3 yeARS+ OF UPDATES.

I'm keen on the Asus Zenfone. Just bought a Zenfone 4, and it's pretty sweet. They have a huge line at great prices, and they come with updates. Get a great case. Linky-poo
The easiest way to compare is this: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8912&idPhone2=9109&idPhone3=9350
Basically, the 6 and 6t have a newer CPU, some design changes and some other internal improvements. Also, keep in mind that the OnePlus 7 is just around the corner. Even if it is more expensive than you can afford, the 6t price will most probably drop a little as well. If you order from their official website I can also provide a coupon for extra 20$ off on accessories.
The iPhone 5 is 2.31-inches wide. This is a sore point for a lot of compact-phone fans because except for the Sony Experia Compact, there is literally no other premium compact phones.

Here is a comprehensive list of all the 60mm-wide-of-less phones with 3GB+ of RAM.
It's not good...
Hey, yes I do have :-)

Thanks so much! I would be grateful to you if you could help me share my survey by sharing this link on your social media profiles too :-)
Thanks!
Hi Thanks for the reply, I pan to use the S7 as the cam viewer mounted on a gooseneck The S5 is only a back up. Using the splitter https://www.amazon.co.uk/Splitter-Enhancer-Converter-Dragon-Trading/dp/B08VJMTX7G/ref=aw_rtpb_1/262-0497148-1532760?pd_rd_w=K6tAb&pf_rd_p=2fb81632-ecc8-4d08-a864-3e120d37526b&pf_rd_r=N65Y838A575YRKP9QHVF&pd_rd_r=08b37d67-dd8d-47ec-aaf5... the webcam works perfectly well with a great picture, however when I plug in the 3rd cable to power the S7, sometimes I get the empty battery icon, no green nor does it charge the S7. When using the cable from the wall charger on the powerbank and S7 it charges quickly.
I entered the specs you were looking for a ONLY the Palm came up. Expanded it to just a toooouuuccchhh bigger and got 49 results.
Samsung fold brought one out, but it's almost $2000.
People wanted bigger screens, and sometimes people want tablets, or one device to replace two (a small phone + a tablet). That's Samsung's thinking.
There are lots of smaller phones out there, but just not smartphones with flagship resources.
Also, now that the new screen ratios seem to be pushing 9:21, remember that the width of the 5-inch phone now is like 5.5-5.8 inches diagonal.
If diagonal is all you're looking for, a pretty good phones with a 4.5-inch screen, look at the Blackberry Key2.
Here is a list of narrow devices that are under 66mm / 2.6-inches wide
The Nokia 8.1 has OIS on it's camera and Android One, so it will receive three years of security updates as well as two years (from release of OS updates, which are less important, as security is key).
https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_8_1_(nokia_x7)-9342.php
There are probably slightly better camera experiences, but OIS will make sure your shots and video are steadier.
Well, Samsung has a lot of phones in the Galaxy J7 series, but I'd say yours is this one (apparently the T-Mobile version is called J700T):
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_j7-pictures-7185.php
Take close look at the pictures (pay attention to all the holes and grills), and if they match exactly yours, then it definitely uses micro-SIM.
If not, take a look a these:
https://www.gsmarena.com/res.php3?sSearch=samsung+galaxy+J7
You'll find the answer under Specifications/Body/SIM (it's near the top of the specs).
it really depends what you're looking for...
id say OP6 is a better value phone than the iphone, but if you want an iphone you dont have many choices
again, compared to the iphone 7 plus, what you get with OP6 is a better, bigger (6.3 inches), higher resolution AMOLED screen, fast charging with fast charger included, a headphone jack (removed on OP6T), higher storage probably, dual sim if you're into that, a newer design with very small bezels and a notch (smaller on OP6T) and great build (aluminum and glass), one of the fastest fingerprint sensors (placed under the screen on OP6T), and android updates for the next 2 years (possibly 3), a higher storage capacity, possibly better camera, the customization of android.
OnePlus 6 Review: Right On the Money! - Marques Brownlee
the good things about the iphone 7 plus is a longer lasting battery, but slow charging (2900mah vs 3300mah on OP6 should last almost twice longer than OP6) - apparently u can charge the 7 plus with an 12W iPad charger and will cut charging time in half, but that will cost you another 30$, the haptic engine (vibrating) feels way better than any android, the 3D touch, the ease of connection with other apple ecosystem devices, another 3 (maybe 4?) years of iOS support.
have you had an iphone before?
I decided to add one special layer of security: Shreddit, an Android app that overwrites the data sectors.. althou its a little difficult to believe it is as secure as advertised..
https://apkpure.com/shreddit-data-eraser/com.palmtronix.shreddit.v1
Opinion?
Thanks. As long as you understand I am content.
Also a used entry level Dslr will cost around $120 or less usless you are looking for a pro grade one.
Hears an example of an entry level Dslr. Also Dslr camera lens can get very expensive if your looking for very good ones. But as long as you use a normal lens you will be fine.
I have a suggestion that could solve your history of headphone jack problems in your smartphones.
Purchase this cheap short 3.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter:
amazon link for 3.5 male to 3.5 female audio adapter
Then plug your audio headphone or AUX jack to it.
Leave the 3.5mm adapter in FOREVER(or as long as you can)
By doing this, u minimize the wear and tear of the headphone adapter on the phone since you will be plugging your headphones or AUX into the adapter and not the phone itself.
Theres versions of the adapter with an L shape. That might be better.
Its basically a stripped down android OS you should be able to Change it, about the keyboard idk

found this one and it seems to actualy be the best atm together with
I've created a search on GSM Arena filter to assist.
This is minimum model year 2016, 2gb RAM, 64gb storage, Android OS, max 5.0" screen. There are 16 results.
Of the results, my recommendation would be the Pixel or Pixel 2. I recently purchased an open box (flawless) Pixel for my wife from eBay for ~$275.
Sticking with Android One or Google devices will yield you updates and security.

That, or flashing your own device.

Check out the GSM Arena Phone Finder. It will let you compare phone specs: [here](https://www.gsmarena.com/search.php3?)
I will leave this list here. It's up to you to read the reviews.
Only the iPhone and Google Pixel will have longer-term updates, although, it's not unheard of for other models to get updates like LG. It's just not consistent.
I'd start with the stock Android options...
Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL would be the obvious choices...
You could also check the Android One program.. Google is working with some manufacturers to offer a pure Android experience with guaranteed updates for at least two years

Although the Oneplus doesn't feature the Stock Android, they are doing a great work with the Oneplus 6T. It's worth checking as well....
Last, but not least, stay tuned for the Galaxy S10. Premium devices, awesome camera, new UI...

I have been happy with my Axon 7 for 6 months now...and you can get it for $330 from Newegg right now...
Looking at the trend, the OnePlus 5 is going to be $439 at the very minimum, but I think a $499 launch price is even more likely.
You'll have to decide if the OnePlus is worth waiting 2 months and paying $120 extra for. The 2gb extra ram shouldn't make a monumental difference in performance, though the 835 chipset seems to return modest speed and efficiency gains.
Well their might be a couple youtube videos pitting those two phones against each other.
https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8720&idPhone2=9106#diff-
Otherwise, this will help a little bit. Google has better PPI but P20 has generally better AMOLED screen. Huawei has the bigger battery but because of software the endurance is very similar. Fingerprint is on back on Pixel and on front on P20, which is great for using it while on table. Pixel is 4gb ram P20 is 6gb.
The cameras are both great but very different. Pixel takes the best mostly natural photos of any. P20 tries to "fix your photos for you". Really subjective. Check out some youtube videos for both cameras and decide for yourself
What's the model number? Is it the H930DS? it should say in the About phone section in the settings? Or somewhere physically on the phone.
https://www.gsmarena.com/lg_v30-8712.php#h930ds For reference ...
Toughest phones outright of toughest mainstream flagships. Probably the MilSpec-810G devices like the LG V30 or Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.
Toughest phones in general with waterproofing for North America are something like Sonim or Cat, or some of the dedicated milSpec commertial devices; but I think those are out of mainstream price ranges...
Not really. Out of the box, Apple is probably the best about it, but all of them track you to some degree. I'd personally avoid anything from the Chinese manufacturers, unless you can root and flash an alternative android ROM like LineageOS.
If you really want to prevent tracking, you'd need an android phone without Google Web Services. If you use almost any app on Android, it uses Google Web Services. The only project I know of that is truly doing non-GWS android is /e/ android (more info here: https://e.foundation/).
So, if you were to put things on a scale from most spying to least, it would go:
Obviously none of this matters if you install spyware on your phone like WeChat, Weibo, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Fortnite, or whatever else.
Really it's about picking who you are willing to let spy on you. I chose Apple, since they won't give into the FBI or what have you to crack phone passcodes, and phone home at 1/10th of the rate that a typical android does. I also don't have much for social media (only Reddit and Snapchat), and use DuckDuckGo instead of Google.
The thing is that apart from camera I also want a device with stock Android and without notch. It limits my choice to only Xiaomi and One Plus 6t (which though does have a notch but it is not as ugly as an iPhone-like notches). But what I don’t like about One Plus is that finger print scanner is not on the back and their OS is not that frequently updated as on devices from Android One Program.
At the same time I don’t take Google Pixel seriously because I’m the happy owner of two Nexus devices that turned to bricks in less then half a year.
I’m also considering bigger screen - the biggest screen I tried so far is 5.2”. I’m not sure how convenient is that, but I’ll give it a try.
Can we assume you mean Stock Android with Google services (Android One) or Actually Google Free Stock Android?
Would you like new or would a refurbished or older flagship like the pixel be in your wheelhouse?
https://www.verizonwireless.com/featured/better-matters/?map=4glte#maps
The map is a little confusing, but I think how it works is that if you click on the stack icon on the map you can switch between '3g' and '4g without 3g'. To look at just 3g or just 4g. It looks like there's a bit more uncovered areas with 4g than there is 3g, but 4g is pretty good.
Also https://opensignal.com/networks has a map that is much more self explanatory. You can toggle 3g on/off while 4g is on to see what areas will be missing.
In the end it's your call. Verizon's 4g coverage is better than most other carriers 3g + 4g coverage going by those maps. But there are some 3g only spots that you'd be missing out on with this phone.
got my hands on a cheap symbian phone (nokia 301) which is officialy supported by whatsapp: https://www.whatsapp.com/s40/
it cost's 50 bucks used on amazon and maybe its worth it. It'll arrive the next few days and ill post if im happy with it.
Been in your situation before and decided to start using Spike. It's a conversational email app that displays email threads in a chat- like form, where you can add as many email identities as you wish to and either view them separately or unified.
What's really great is Spike’s knows which emails are important and which are non-essential. So for example, your work communications will automatically be found in Spike’s Priority Inbox, while newsletters, promotions, and other junk gets placed right into the Other Inbox to help keep your main feed clean, allowing you to focus on what's important.
It is also a platform where you can manage your entire workflow with Spike's Collaborative Note's and Tasks, Built-in Calendar, Video and audio calls, Group Chats and many more features that eliminate the need to jump between apps :)
First of all, do not buy another N-series phone; they’re trash, even for the price.
As for a new phone, I’d save up for an A52 or a 2020 flagship. Sure, it’s more money, but it’ll last you further into the future.
This thing…
…throw a new Pixel 3a XL in there for less than $200.
Free boat anchor/doorstop.
What are the earbuds not fitting into? Bluetooth 5.0 earbuds are compatible with older devices. Here are some good budget earbuds
You can just one of those magnetic charging cables and the usb c end of that cable is always plugged into your phone so you can charge by attaching the magnetic end. For example, something like this:

You could try this. I can't attest to performance on the games you are playing, but I've watched some videos saying it's solid. I believe it often goes cheaper than it's showing now.
Basically any android ohone can do that. You have to make sure you take some basic precautions to make sure the phone can't be accessed by anyone other than you. Like a strong screenlock password or key, lock the applications you think are important (most smartphones have features for this), and lastly you can opt for a good VPN service. It essentially encrypts all outgoing data from your phone. There are several VPN services like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Private Internet Access etc.
As for the phone, I want to say Poco X3 pro. It has the best performance at that price. But make sure you pay close attention while you're setting up your phone. A lot of phones ask for targeting permissions while setting up. Make sure you say no to all of that. There are videos on YouTube explaining those steps also
Safari does the job fine, but I'd go for Firefox, its extensions make it a winner, easy to use too.
You won't need any software to prevent any kind of virus.
Most VPN's are kinda messy in the sense that they have pop-up ads, but they work fine. The paid ones are the best, like Freedome VPN from F-Secure.
Turn off Background App Refresh for the apps in which you won't require notifications. Also keep at least 20% of your storage free for optimal storage performance. I'd recommend going through all settings and app settings to get everything the way you want it to be (slightly unnecessary considering the speed of the 7 but it can prevent any future hassle, I do this with all my gadgets).
Hmm, if selfies are as important for you, how about a smartphone that flips its main camera forward. I've read relatively good reviews about this, but feel free to check it out.
Asus Zenfone 7
Have you tried turning it off and back on again? (Rebooting) to see if this fixes the issue?
You might also want to run a scan with Malwarebytes on the device to see if there's malware or something on it, which he may have downloaded from a dodgy video on YouTube.
If I remember correctly, there is an app called YouTube Kids, designed especially for 5-8 year olds.
Tbh i’d pick up a refurbished iphone 8 and a battery case like this one. You don’t really need the case though if they put a replacement battery in but it’ll make sure your phone lasts awhile without needing to be charged. You can never go wrong with iOS. A refurbished galaxy S9 would also be a decent phone if you’ve got the money.
Moto G8 Power | Unlocked | International GSM only | 4/64GB | 16MP Camera | 2020 | Black https://www.amazon.com/Power-Unlocked-International-Camera-Black/dp/B087C9RVRG/
T-mobile. Thanks.
But make sure you get a good reputable one that has a paid subscription. Not that that's something on their most of the reputable ones are paid. Such as ExpressVPN, Private Internet Access, Surfshark etc.
Lots of phone cases have this built in.
Thoughts on Moto G Power? I had a Moto 3g before and it was fine just slow. This has the snap 665 processor, 16MP front camera, macro lens (which I'm finding a potentially very useful feature), 5000MaH battery, fast charging, and an IPS display for the same price as the TCL 10L. https://www.amazon.com/Power-Battery1-Unlocked-Motorola-Camera/dp/B084D89DBF
Which country do you live in? I live in India and bought mine from Amazon for way less than 30€.
Go for the galaxy a31, it's a great phone, has almost the same display as the iPhone 12, decent cameras and enough performance even my grandfather uses a galaxy a50 which is almost similar to the a31 and he has really liked that phone. Also it has 128gb storage so that's great and it's only 224$ on amazon. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087CCGB54/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_74lRFbTTY3SX4
If you're okay with a plastic protector, and if you're okay with a wet install, I can vouch for the Spigen Neo Flex. I put one on my wife's S8, along with a spigen case, and it's been pretty nice. Make sure you watch the video on the amazon page, and there's one unusual thing about the install - you'll want to put it on with your case already on. With the install process, you can move it around until you start squeegee-ing it down, so having the case on lets you get it positioned to avoid touching the case.
It looks fucky for the first day. After that it gets clear enough you can barely see it, but it does have the plastic screen protector feel to it.

This may be a stupid suggestion, but an adapter would open your options to those 2.5mm jacks.
5.69 usd on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GC6LR84/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Tx2RCbXBH6YMK
You could get any set that way, then just leave the adapter on the headphone when you're not using it.
Nokia 6.1 could be the phone for you. it costs GBP 222 at Amazon.

S10. If you can afford it, get a plus. Right now Amazon has some pretty great prices on international versions:
S10+ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NZX5BKH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_CMMgDbN415RZG
S10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NZXXZB2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rOMgDbK6CZABN
The only issues with the international versions is that they only support at&t and TMobile networks (so dependent things like cricket work) but you can save a good chunk of money that way, or get a chunk more performance.
