PSA: Please do not install uTorrent. It's full of ads and malware. Please do all your piracy using one of the many wonderful free and open source torrent clients out there, such as Transmission, Deluge, or qBittorrent.
Can we talk about using uTorrent? Please consider using Transmission, which was made for OSX *(edit, it works on almost every OS now)
https://transmissionbt.com/download/
It's just much cleaner UI and doesn't have ads..
Again, this is just categorically false. You cannot realistically verify every single iteration/version of every single binary distribution of every single application on your system. Regardless of if its open source or not. See for example malware distribution via the Transmission project: https://transmissionbt.com/
Realistically it happens that binaries are modified before distribution
Deluge: Homepage UNIX: Transmission: Homepage
TL;DR: If you installed Transmission in the last few days, check if you've been infected. The infected executable was signed on the 28th and has already been replaced, so there should only be a small number of users affected.
You can check if your computer is infected by seeing if any of the following files exist: >/Applications/Transmission.app/Contents/Resources/License.rtf
>/Volumes/Transmission/Transmission.app/Contents/Resources/License.rtf
>$HOME/Library/Application Support/com.apple.iCloud.sync.daemon/icloudsyncd
>$HOME/Library/Application Support/com.apple.iCloud.sync.daemon/process.id
>$HOME/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.iCloud.sync.daemon.plist
>/Library/Application Support/com.apple.iCloud.sync.daemon/
>$HOME/Library/LaunchAgents/com.geticloud.icloud.photo.plist
edit: Official statement from the Transmission Project: https://transmissionbt.com/keydnap_qa/
Transmission is a good alternative to qBitTorrent and uTorrent. It's very fast and lightweight. The macOS version was hacked in 2016 and it carried malware, but now it's secure.
Transmission is what I use on my server.
From the website, feature Spotlight:
Assuming you're asking how to download the torrent. You will need a computer.
Great article. I just went through a similar process setting up my new Pro. Didn't know about the Mac App Store CLI, thanks for that.
A couple of things: Cask comes pre-installed with Brew now so you don't need to install that, and Transmission is way better than uTorrent
Yes. The last issue they had with an infected download on their website was literally just for a few hours, not even a full day.
https://transmissionbt.com/keydnap_qa/
Their binary downloads are hosted at GitHub since that last incident
> By that I mean, I can have Deluge running on a VPS and I can access everything from my own laptop through the native client. I don't really like web UIs
Sounds like you're looking for other torrent clients that have a thin client. Only other one I can think of is Transmission, there are 3rd party thin clients you can use with it. I tried Transmission Remote GUI a while back but it seemed pretty buggy IMO, maybe you'll have better luck. (Transmission lists remote control apps at their website).
Do you have an external drive for backups? Get one. Start backing up. You can get a few terabytes for like a hundred bucks these days. That way the next time this happens you can just roll back to the last backup instead of starting from scratch, which will also have the bonus of not losing your only copy of your dissertation or whatever.
The only programs on your list that I have are VLC and the Adobe suite. I use Transmission for torrents, fwiw.
If you are torrenting pirated software then that might be the cause of your woes.
You can get Transmission for Macs. Or this Transmission, but it doesn't torrent anything. Or you can take out the transmission system from your car, but that also won't torrent anything.
I advise steering clear of uTorrent and going with something such as Deluge or Transmission if you plan on switching over, but as far as I can tell it's a bit tricky force the VPN connection specifically for either of those.
Just don't use uTorrent.
Even though this image is a bit outdated and offensive, it's true.
I personally use Transmission on my mac and rtorrent (command line torrent client) on linux.
Technically that sidebar needs to be updated, no one has recommended bitlord in ages. And that Transmission link isn't even correct, should be https://transmissionbt.com/
Nowadays most people tend to lean towards qBittorrent, Deluge, Transmission. And maybe older versions of uTorrent.
Download transmission from here https://transmissionbt.com/
Click open url and paste the link into it. Once the zip file is done downloading just point your mod manager at it to install.
Never ever install BitTorrent or μTorrent. These apps are known for doing sketchy stuff.
Two safe alternatives are Transmission and qBitTorrent.
Also, remember to only use torrents for legitimate things. Don’t pirate, because it’s the easiest way to cause yourself trouble. Don’t fall into the trap of this particular site for piracy is completely safe. It’s not.
Transmission is very lightweight and non-commerical (free, no adverts or tracking). Their source code is available if you want to check exactly what it's doing. :-)
Avoid the "nightly build" and get the latest stable version. The daily builds can sometimes have bugs and are intended for users that want to live beyond the cutting edge, or for programmers who want to tinker with the code. This is the default client on Ubuntu, in case you're wondering about the size of the userbase.
Edit: Winamp!
It's a magnet link for a torrent. For those who don't know, here's how to use it:
Download a torrent client (Suggestions: qBittorrent for windows or Transmission for Mac
Install/open the torrent client then open it. There should be a way to open a torrent from a magnet or URL (For Transmission, this is File -> Open Address). Paste the entire link and press add.
The magnet link:
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:2AD5E2C91CABAD928D0AC7FDD579EEA63BB33B50&tr=udp://tracker.coppersurfer.tk:6969/announce&tr=udp://9.rarbg.com:2710/announce&tr=udp://open.demonii.com:1337/announce&tr=udp://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce&tr=udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce&tr=http://tracker.trackerfix.com/announce&tr=udp://9.rarbg.to:2710/announce&tr=udp://glotorrents.pw:6969/announce
That's it, then it should start downloading. It's a bit over 16gb.
Using Transmission for Mac - although it's a great BT client & open-source, adding magnet links is kind of a pain. You have to press ⌘+U , then a little sheet drops down where you can add 1 (one) magnet link at a time.
I found a convenient way to import bunches of links quickly. First, set a default directory in Transmission that new downloads get automatically added to, without user interaction. Make sure Transmission is set as the default app for magnet: links. Then highlight a group of magnet links in Google Sheets (i.e. the E2:E11 range), hit ⌘+C to copy it, then run this one-liner script on the command line:
for link in $(pbpaste) ; do open $link ; done
All it does is loop through whatever is in your paste buffer (separated by newlines) and open each line using whatever the default app is on macOS.
Thanks for posting all these, /u/DyonR !
Numbers has built-in support for pop-up menus (select values for a cell), which I don’t think Excel has without doing extra work.
Set up a backup solution. If you have an external hard drive Time Machine is an easy built-in tool for backing up and restoring files.
I like https://daisydiskapp.com/ for tracking down large files or managing disk space.
I like https://transmissionbt.com/ for a BitTorrent client. It’s been around forever and is lightweight and powerful. It’s probably the only software I use that lacks dark mode, but the beta builds have it.
If you don’t have a password manager I’d recommend https://1password.com/ as one that has multi-platform app support but works particularly well with Apple OSs. 1Password has one-time or subscription purchase options, and local or online vaults. They also have regional account options so if you are in EU or Canada your data is hosted locally and not in the US.
There may have been a checkbox to not allow this that you missed, while nobody likes this process it is still a common things to do as it helps to bring in more revenue / offload other costs.
I always recommend transmission as a torrent client that does not do this. It did use to be unix only so I cannot vouch for if the windows port is any good or not.
Give transmission a try. https://transmissionbt.com/
Transmission can run headless on a server, has a cli ncurses client, a web interface and evene q GTK Gui client which can connect remotely to a running transmission instance.
> so if there's 3 people who have the "complete" file, why would it be stalled?
For some reason they can't connect to you. Usually because they already reached their max connections. But the tracker know they are there.
> Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but any torrent website I've been to lists tracker information as well.
Usually they have both, but a tracker is not a website and a website is not a tracker.
> Windows user. Transmission is for MAC?
Initially for Linux, it's now multi-platform : https://transmissionbt.com/download/
> what if you don't use the anon feature?
What is the point of its existence without anon? Yes, I know they are also working on distributed search but that itself is only limited to Tribler clients so it's not much of a feature for now.
> what about the fact it's an ad free multi platform client?
LOL, Tribler's normal torrenting functions work so badly in its current state. Did you compare to all the other ad free multi platform torrent clients? e.g. qBittorrent, Transmission, Deluge, etc. All the normal torrent clients pretty much blow away Tribler in terms of stability & features.
You can use Tribler for its anonymity features (just make sure you also have a VPN!) but otherwise there isn't much reason to use it IMO.
If you're fully connectable then presumably public torrents work fine? e.g. any Linux torrent should download & seed correctly. Public torrents don't even require trackers as long as you have DHT/PEX enabled (in qB you should see the DHT status in the bottom status bar).
You may want to try /r/Trackers since this might be specific to your private trackers, not your torrent client config. Or the internal forums at those private trackers you're having issues with.
Only other thing I can think of is that something is blocking your connection to those trackers, not necessarily blocking your torrents. That could be your ISP. Maybe try with a paid torrent friendly VPN & see how it goes (see /r/VPNTorrents).
EDIT: It's also possible you're running into some rare qB bug? You'd want to check in qB's forums or /r/qBittorrent. If you want to try ruling that out then maybe do some temporary testing with another torrent client like Transmission or Deluge.
Looks like you missed my third point entirely; it's no longer a problem.
Then again it never was for any semi-competent user who actually read through the install procedure and chose not to install the shareware.
Plenty of open source/FOSS clients have had their fair share of malware, too
This is occasionally seen in the free software community.
The idea is that HTTPS gives you a false sense of security. It gets rid of the MITM problem, but it doesn't get rid of the hacked web server problem, which has happened. Signing the files with a key that's backed by the web of trust, on a machine that isn't web facing, provides much greater assurance that it's the file that the legitimate operator of the site means to provide.
In practice though I doubt many people actually verify the signatures, so it just adds the MITM attack risk.
I didn't download it during the window when the site was hacked and the virus wasn't present on my machine. I still use it. Mostly because it's the best, IMO, BT client. Any updates get scanned before it's applied. But, I guess I like to live dangerously. :)
Transmission's official stance: https://transmissionbt.com/keydnap_qa/
A recent example of an attack like this would be to Transmission. It happened 2 days ago and millions of users use this website. The link to the Mac version was changed to one with malware.
The uTorrent client has had its fair share of scandals involving ads and malware.
Personally, I use Transmission as my client of choice. It's open-source, cross platform, well established enough that most private trackers accept it, and the """worst""" thing it does is ask for donations one time per install.
Works great for me - I can max my internet link with torrents through PIA.
I'm using transmission on Linux with Wireguard and my own shell scripts though, can't help you with Windows.
Just use Transmission. It's Linux native and incredibly easy to use. You can install it with one line in the terminal, or one click in the Pop Shop.
Here is their Getting Started page, you should see from the screenshots that the interface is very simple and intuitive. https://transmissionbt.com/help/gtk/2.7x/html/gettingstarted.html
To install, open the Pop Shop, search for Transmission. There will be multiple results with the same logo. The top result is the flatpak version (sandboxed so better security, faster updates, but could run slower and take up more space). The second result is the deb version (more integrated in the OS, faster, takes up less space, but could have less frequent updates). Choose the version that sounds better to you and click install. (I prefer deb versions if available, but others will disagree.)
Alternatively, you can open a terminal and paste in this line to install the deb version:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install transmission-gtk
You'll need a torrent client (app). I suggest Transmission on Mac or Deluge on Winblows.
Once that's installed, simply open the linked file above with that app and the show will begin downloading shortly.
QBitTorrent is my personal favourite, but you also have Transmission and Deluge.
If you are on windows, download transmission. Then install it. Open it up and go to file > open url. Then copy and paste that long gibberish that starts with 'magnet:'. Then just click open. A new window should pop up, just click download and wait for it to finish.
The pirate bay. Don't use it.
Check the pinned megathread https://teddit.net/r/Piracy/wiki/megathread
Use [qBittorent](www.qbittorrent.org) or Transmission to download torrents.
Get Transmission (or qBittorrent if you use windows), and use this magnet link - magnet:?xt=urn:btih:e24a9d0b01d05f01cffd5ad67da45490934da94f&dn=Better.Call.Saul.S05.1080p.BluRay.x264-ITSALLGOODMAN%5Brartv%5D&tr=http%3A%2F%2Ftracker.trackerfix.com%3A80%2Fannounce&tr=udp%3A%2F%2F9.rarbg.me%3A2860&tr=udp%3A%2F%2F9.rarbg.to%3A2880
I got the magnet link from here and it's 55 GB, btw.
Jdownloader is a good trusted app. I'm not sure why it doesn't install for you.
I'd recommend installing "Free Download Manager" as it works directly with your browser with a chrome extension and you can also download torrents directly through it.
Here's the link: https://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download-fdm-for-mac.htm
Transmission is a sleek and easy to use app but it only downloads torrents.
Here's the link: https://transmissionbt.com/download/
You'll need the Transmission downloader for torrent-files, then google for "Photoshop 22.4.2" mac torrent and be sure to type it exactly as here. The first result where is also says + Neural Filters is the one you need! The Transmission app can be found here https://transmissionbt.com/download/
Also, in Transmission preferences go to Peers and enable Encryption and enable the Blocklist checkbox and the checkbox Automatically Update Weekly!
Did this help you?
You'll need the Transmission downloader for torrent-files, then google for "Photoshop 22.4.2" mac torrent and be sure to type it exactly as here. The first result where is also says + Neural Filters is the one you need!
The Transmission app can be found here https://transmissionbt.com/download/
Do you trust the source of these downloads (the URL is in the prompt)? If you do, follow the steps others have posted. These prompts are there to help warn you of potentially harmful software. This type of software is often used to target users with malware, so always use caution.
Consider that Fosshub is not the developer/publisher of the apps you’ve downloaded, they may have been repackaged to include malware. Always download from the original developer if you can.
The Transmission download page includes hashes to help ensure you’ve downloaded an authentic version.
Transmission: https://transmissionbt.com/download/
Don't know about a guide but I'd suggest you get a torrent client for Windows https://transmissionbt.com/download/. You can search for everything you need with duckduckgo com by searching with combined keywords Torrent and Lightroom and Windows. To stay reasonably safe you should use a VPN (look it up) and a Firewall (maybe Comodo) to control apps.
Do not use μTorrent, it's ridden with ads and has a history of malware being included by the developer. Use qBittorrent, Deluge or Transmission instead.
So, I guess you need a torrent client, uTorrent is absolutely NOT RECOMMENDED.
Try another torrent clients, like deluge or transmission (this one I use since several years, and recently they ported to windows).
To search archives to download, you should try sites for this like piratebay (not so recommended, but it is always there with lots of stuff) or 1337x (better).
https://www.rallysimfans.hu/rbr/download.php?download=rsfrbr
should do the trick
and you can use Transmissionfor those torrents, simple and effective software
Yep, one way is to use any Linux torrent client on a Chromebook, you'll need to install Linux compatibility.
Then you can install a Linux torrent app like Transmission.
> If i were in you, i would change to qbittorrent and delete bittorrent and try to remove the malwarw again.
I fully agree. qBittorrent is often mentioned as a great option.
I also want to mention the client I use — Transmission.
Free and open source, ad free, extremely lightweight, very simple yet beautiful UI, cross-platform (Windows, macOS, Linux).
Both share most of the same advantages, but in my opinion qBittorrrent’s UI looks a bit outdated and too complicated compared to Transmission.
There’re more differences, but I’m not a big torrent user, most don’t matter to me.
Here’s a more detailed comparison of both.
Install Transmission, and in the application, click Open URL, or enter Ctrl+U. Go back to the web browser, click Copy Magnet Link, and then go back to Transmission, and paste the link next to where it's asking for the source. Hit open, and the torrent will begin downloading as long as Start when added is checked off, which it is by default.
first do you own any albums? i understand being a broke young adult but whenever i got money i would try to support the artist buy the album or stream it a few times without a ad blocker. to help with your problem google a site called 1337x and search for it you will need a app called transmission https://transmissionbt.com/download/ just support the artist. BTW now that i have a better job i have started collecting all his albums in vinyl to display on my wall i highly suggest it.
Don't wait, you'll forget. Scrap uTorrent and get one of the following safe and open-source alternative
And stay safe, don't download public torrent without protection and do it on a VPN. You should be able to find decently priced one that is safe for torrenting pretty easily.
probably because you're one of the few people left who think µTorrent is a viable torrent client and not adware supported crap
It's a torrent magnet link. You'll need a torrent client such as Transmission (https://transmissionbt.com/download/) or any other torrent client. Copy the magnet link from OP, launch the torrent client and click file > Open URL, paste the magnet link, choose where the files should download to, then click OK. It should then grab the metadata for the torrent and start downloading.
Here is a torrent link. How to use it:
I could give you a link to download in your browser, but this does not work well for large files, costs me more money to provide, and you can not start/stop if you want. The file is about 55 gigabytes.
Hope this works!
I don't have an RPI so I cannot test this independently.
The Dtv Transmission interface has been tested against TransmissionBT 2.94 running on Windows, Linux and MacOS, from https://transmissionbt.com/ (I haven't tested it recently, I see its now on 3.00)
I'm not familiar with Transmission WEB, but I assume this is just a GUI that still requires the TransmissionBT client to be running?
If that is the case, then you want to connect Dtv with the TransmissionBT client and not the WEB GUI.
If however the Transmission WEB version also includes an embedded client, then this has not been tested with Dtv before. There may be differences in the interface that prevent it working, I just do not know.
PSA for anyone not able to load torrent!
Use something like Transmission (https://transmissionbt.com/) instead of uTorrent. It's not loading in uTorrent for some reason.
Or, you can try to just directly download the .tar file from the Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/BlueLeaks
Edit: Torrent seems to be a little faster than the direct download, here's a screenshot of how both are running for me right now, seems it will take about a day for either one to finish:
Torrenting is not illegal. Distributing copyrighted work without permission/license do to so is illegal. For example, Linux installation disks are very commonly distributed via torrent, all legal, your ISP or nearby university might even be peers seeding those files.
For a decent torrent client I'd go with Transmission, it supports encryption, is open-source, has no ads or other obnoxious features.
If he has a thousand videos in his VLC library, then he's going to keep VLC as an app in his dock.
Same as having thousands of songs in an iTunes library, then you're going to keep iTunes as an app in your dock.
Notice Transmission is one of those apps, which is a bittorrenting app. The guy downloads videos and maintains a torrented video library.
Do you have a bittorrent client? If not download one such as Transmission, Deluge, or qBittorrent. Once installed you should see a button that will let you add a torrent via link. Copy and paste that link in and it should start downloading for you.
The Utorrent is crap filed with bloatware, go to another torrent client, I recommend transmission
qBittorrent sucks on macOS, at least it did a few years ago. It's a very good client for windows and linux though. Try transmission: https://transmissionbt.com/ and report back.
Mint Linux 64bit (Debian) on DYI PC with i3-4360, 8gb RAM, 500gb SSD, GeForce GT 710 2GB GDRR3 64-bit - Running Solid for 2 years now
Rarely use GUI. Running Plex w/mounted NAS drive for media files
Webmin - web-based interface for system administration for Unix.
Pi-hole - Network-wide Ad Blocking. A black hole for Internet advertisements
Transmission - Open source cross platform BitTorrent client
If you are looking for a normal torrent client, I suggest Transmission: https://transmissionbt.com/
I use it and it works just great, is open source, and has no advertisements. The Windows build is "early", but it works just fine for me too.
Get a Mac torrent client like Transmission, download the torrent, and leave the MacBook on (in your Mac's power saving settings have it set to never go to sleep too). Then you're done
qBittorrent ( https://www.qbittorrent.org/ ) or Transmission ( https://transmissionbt.com/ ). Some would say μTorrent or BitTorrent but I prefer open-source software :P (and uTorrent contain crypto miner btw).
Transmission: Simple and non bloatware, just works be it on desktop, NAS or routers. I use this on the NAS.
ruTorrent: Is for he the power users.
Download the app. Find it in your downloads folder. Right click/control click the app icon, and select "Open" from the context menu. This will pop up an alert that says "macOS cannot verify the developer of 'Notational Velocity'". Click open. This will tell Gatekeeper that you trust this app and it won't bug you about it anymore.
Why this exists: Gatekeeper is trying to make sure that this app is safe and trustworthy, and if it turns out not to be (like it has a virus or something), then it can be shut off by Apple remotely. To do this, the app must be "notarized" with a code signature that says Apple knows about this specific version of the app and who wrote it. The developer, for whatever reason, decided not to do this, so Gatekeeper doesn't trust it to run without intervention.
This technique works with any app that Gatekeeper doesn't trust, but if there is malware, Apple won't be able to protect you by shutting it off when it activates or is discovered. You might think "I know the developer, I trust them" but if they get compromised and some hacker starts serving up modified versions of the app with malware inside, they may never know, and neither will you or Gatekeeper (and this is not hypothetical, it really has happened). So please be mindful of this and don't just blindly open apps that don't have Gatekeeper installed unless you can really trust the source (and at the very least, make sure to only do it for downloads from websites with the lock icon showing in the address bar).
download a torrent client such as qBittorrent or Transmission and then open the torrent file using said client. it'll then download the actual file
Seriously?
> The launcher on the left side
So move the Taskbar/Start Menu to the left side of the screen?
> the terminal
PowerShell
> how do you update all the software at once?
You don't. If you install apps from the Store then updates can be managed from there but otherwise apps are managed independently.
Some folks use Chocolatey which is a package manager for Windows.
https://www.lifewire.com/top-torrent-sites-alternatives-to-kat-2483512
Make sure you install and ad blocker https://adblockplus.org before visiting those sites.
You will also need a BitTorrent client, I recommend https://transmissionbt.com/download/
Strong hate/love opinions abound around torrents, and Pirate Bay especially. But currently it's one of the better places for finding clean Mac OSs. They currently have Mojave 10.14.1 up there, with over 50 seeders. If you're new to torrents, go to this link, then click on the red magnet icon. You may get a separate tab that tries to sell you whatever, just close that and go back to the links. You'll need a torrent app, and Transmission is about the best one out there. Can be downloaded directly from here: https://transmissionbt.com/download/
PB link: https://thepiratebay.org/search/Mojave/0/99/300
Let the hate/love begin...
Hold on. A BitTorrent client requieres an installer in macOS? Use Transmission, much better and lightweight.
I avoid pkg installers unless it's an app I really need. Would not trust BiTorrent (the company) with their software full of crapware.
As pointed out by others
I’ve tried different ones over the years but I keep coming back to Transmission. It doesn’t look like a windows port, simple minimalist, but fully loaded with options. I honestly don’t think there is any better.
The bittorrent/utorrent installers are a bit non-standard and dump the .exe and all related files into the appdata folder of the user account you run the installer under. So normally if you didn't run the installation as admin or something then the .exe & other files should be in that utorrent/bittorrent folder under appdata.
The files wouldn't be anywhere else unless you have other user accounts on that computer (if so, double-check the appdata folders for those accounts).
You may want to consider using a different torrent client with a normal installation routine, e.g. /r/qBittorrent, Transmission, or similar.
PS - Also consider using the forums for that software https://forum.bittorrent.com/ and https://forum.utorrent.com/
Yeah, utorrent was the dogs danglies back in the day but nowadays too much bad press as you say!
Personally, I use a client called "Transmission" on my home NAS, as its a doddle to admin and comes with its own native android app to manage the downloads 👍
Utorrent is an Ad haven just like bittorrent. Get Transmission (https://transmissionbt.com/), it's 100% open source so absolutely no ads and for a while, they were Linux and Mac only but there is a Windows version now. Trust me you don't wanna go back :D
Deluge is a great torrent client that has a real nice web client. I use that as my primary torrent downloader, although I have it set up to only go out through a VPN connection.
Transmission is also a nice client with a webgui. I use this for downloading from private trackers that don't play nice with always connected VPNs.
Both of those are multi-platform so when you want to experiment and try linux you can use them for that as well.
Yes, the links are right there
https://transmissionbt.com/download/
The installers are also listed in Transmission's Github
https://github.com/transmission/transmission-releases/
To be honest I assumed OP is a developer wanting to help develop the Transmission project so they needed to learn how to build the code on Windows :)
I'd recommend using an open source torrent client like Transmission, Deluge, or qBittorrent.
Well, it's always good to be careful. Better than being social engineered and carelessly enter your password.
You also had the Transmission issue: https://transmissionbt.com/keydnap_qa/
The same happened with another app I forgot. That's why I recommend running Malwarebytes after app updates.
You are thinking TransmissionRPC.
There is a [Mac app[(https://transmissionbt.com) that will allow you to copy the URL for a magnet, or save a torrent file and start the download. You can set categories and have different settings per category, including folder to save to, ratio, seeding time etc.
There are dozens of different torrent client programs, the preferred ones don't included bundled software or show adverts.
I suggest transmission bittorrent client
Deluge is ok but I'v found it to be somewhat more buggy.
That's strange. If all magnet links from all sites cause you the same problem then something is wrong with your Transmission :/ You could maybe try uninstalling/reinstalling Transmission & see if that helps. Or maybe try installing qBittorrent & see if that works fine for magnet links in your OS.
Might also try Transmission's forums or IRC for more support on that torrent client.
EDIT: Just to make sure, if you copy/paste those magnet links into a text editor (gedit or whatever) does the magnet link you copied look normal? e.g. it would look something like magnet:?xt=urn:btih:<THE-TORRENT-HASH> This would at least rule out your web browser doing something strange to your magnet links.
I use the Firefox plugin DownThemAll! and it works well for comics. Sometimes if the file is too large I prefer the torrent option. I use Transmission for that.
In certain places involving rum drinkers who like the sea you will find a DMG of Yosemite that should work fairly well.
You might benefit from making a bootable drive of it and then installing from boot instead rather than trying to run it from the desktop.

Are your friends.
Alternatively you need to get in touch with another Mac user who will let you use their Apple ID for a short time in order to download your required OS from the Mac App Store using their purchases list, it'll be present there if they've gone through the upgrade cycle over the years.
Whatever you decide to do, backup, backup, backup before you do anything. Time Machine to a USB drive will do just fine.
This is a ridiculous claim (probably) made by unaware non-*nix users. If they got any problem is because they didn't actually download Transmission, but a fake version of it. Go to the official website for downloads.
As a Mac user you may opt for installing it via homebrew (if it looks intimidating don't bother, just make sure to install it from the official website).
Linux users should (probably, except if you know what you are doing) always install software from their package managers if available, Transmission is available in most distributions repositories and you will never have a problem installing it from there.
Windows should only install from the official site.
What do you exactly want to do ?
You want to download your serie with your iPhone on your iPhone ? Use iTransmission, see there : https://7labs.heypub.com/mobile/iphone/ios-bittorrent-client.html#Torrent_Client_for_iOS
You want to download your serie from your iPhone on a computer/server ? Use transmission/yunohost : https://transmissionbt.com/ // https://yunohost.org/#/index_en (yunohost is a server image with bunch of tools pre-installed, so you supposedly don't need to spend to much time on setting it up, then you would be controling the torrent client from any webbrowser from any machine that has an internet connection)
Edit : I made a mistake. Apparently, qbittorrent is not available on iOS. The (web) remote control of qbittorrent is available, but the client is not.
It's important to keep the system up to date. But it's more important to just be cautious. To get your Mac infected you still have to give your user password. There's not a single virus in existence, but there's some malware, adware, ransomware and stuff.
There's been three more higher profile cases in the recent past: There was Flashback. If you had Java installed it was possible to get infected by visiting some manipulated website. This was the only known case where drive by infection was possible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trojan_BackDoor.Flashback
Then there's been two cases where more popular freeware/open source software was being infected by crapware. Hackers replaced the downloads of Transmission (Bittorrent client) and Handbrake (video converter).

https://blog.malwarebytes.com/threat-analysis/mac-threat-analysis/2017/05/handbrake-hacked-to-drop-new-variant-of-proton-malware/
In both cases you still had to give your user password. So whatever you do, don't give your user password, not even for downloads you trust. 99% of Mac apps don't need your password.
transmission-remote is a daemon version of the Transmission torrent client (though it still has a web interface you can use from your browser). It can be installed with
brew install transmission
the config file is here:
HOME/Library/Preferences/org.m0k.transmission.plist
Once properly configured it will scan a folder for torrent files and start downloading them in the background rather than through a GUI program. The torrent widget just monitors the progress of active downloads.
Also I am running Python 3.6.0 and it's the only version of Python 3 on my computer. What problem is it giving you?
Well you should definitely try downloading a new ISO preferably using the magnet link (torrent), I recommend a lightweight client like Transmission if you don't have one. Then you should disable fast start up and also check your BIOS that no similar options are turned on there. After that you should be pretty much ready to go, else I have no idea.
1st hack: /r/torrents/comments/498a6m/transmission_290_seems_to_be_infected_check_the/
2nd hack: /r/torrents/comments/50dm8e/transmission_for_mac_infected_with_malware_again/
Both times it was someone that managed to replace the linked Mac download with an infected Transmission installer build. After the 2nd hack the Transmission team ended up moving those downloads to Github since it's more secure.
It's frankly embarrassing that they managed to be hacked almost the same way twice, but hopefully the Transmission project's steps taken after the 2nd hack will prevent future issues. Transmission itself is open source & reputable, it's just that they've had problems securing their site & build/release download links.
Also, they do provide SHA256 hashes for their installers on their homepage so if you're paranoid then definitely calculate the checksum on whatever you download to make sure it matches.
