Here in Moscow you can do that. There's an app, that shows you buses, trams and other public transport on map. Edit: fixed link
If you will use public transport, buy Troika card. If you charge it by money, it will be much cheaper than single trip ticket. 38₽ against 55₽. And if you will be here more than a week, you can buy "60 trips" for about 2170₽, which means every trip will cost you 36₽. But it works only 30 days. You can also use your card as much times at a row(for example you can pay for your family member, your family member number 2 and then for yourself and there is no cooldown, but it is only in metro). You can buy single, double, and five trips tickets and charge your card in every automat on the metro stations. There are automats on every station. To buy Troika you need to go to metrk sales desk, its also on stations. You can charge it here too. You cant charge Troika outside the metro, but you can buy regular tickets in every type of public transport. To see the time when bus arrives i recomend yandex. transport(link 1) and for metro map yandex. metro(link 2). transport metro If we talk about landscapes: you definetly need to see Moscow panorama from Ostankino teletower, see Moscow State University, Moscow City and take a walk in city center: my favourite places is district of Mayakovskaya station(line 2), Zamoscvorechye district, Arbat and Tsvetnoy Bulvar. Also you must see city's "park line" that starts from Peter The Great monument(Krymskaya promenade) with Museon, then Central Park of Culture and Rest Gorkogo and Vorobyovy Gory. Also, in the last park there is unique metro station(Vorobyevy Gory), that is literally in the air: its in the bridge. Also dont forget multiple churches and temples: Cathedral of Christ the Saver, Elohovsky Cathedral, Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and much much more
Hope you understood what i've wrote, and my tips will be useful
Hi,
1) to navigate in Moscow, it is best to use Yandex apps. They have english language and are quite convenient. Just find Yandex metro in your appstore to navigate between different train stations (it seems you will arrive at Riga train station and will have to get to Paveletsky train station, but please check). Also you can use Yandex taxi for cheap and safe rides and Yandex maps to navigate during your jogging.
To find the train to Kolomna you can use another Ya app with time tables of all intercity trains.
2) there is a nice place to jog near Riga train station. A huge botanical garden and the ВДНХ. You will sure like it. and its only 15 minutes by metro from Riga train stations. If your train from Riga arrives at any other station (there are 7) the best place ti go is Gorky park - no doubts. A beautiful place on the river. I would rather go to Gorky park rather than the first option. You could jog from there to the Kremlin.
3) it is safe in Moscow. Especially if you run fast :)
4) prepaid sims could be bought at the train stations and they are cheap (5 euros max). I dont recommend MTS. Beeline and Megafon are ok. 1Gb of 3G Internet for a month costs around 6 euros. But ask the retail shop to activate it.
Have a nice stay and good luck at the event.
