Install the Edadeal. They not only show offers and coupons for pretty much all supermarkets. But have a map function that shows all supermarkets and hyper markets around you.
The main interface is available in English, but the shops and coupons are Russian only.
Many chains have a version of hypermarket, but none of them even come to close of that in the US of A.
Auchan, metro c&c, kaurasel come pretty close, but auchan is the clear winner in terms of price and product availability. There are mini version of auchan called auchan- Citi, which stock all the essentials.
There are many websites that do home delivery and cover a wide range of products too.
One of them is Utkonos, which I have personally used and deliver a wide range of products and is priced just right for the service that they provide.
Mendeleev bar can only be accessed from behind a curtain inside a noodle shop. It will seem like you are on some secret list. ;) http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g298484-d3654535-Reviews-Mendeleev_Bar-Moscow_Central_Russia.html
+1 for mybar. Also, if you're in the mybar area check this place out. The beer's pretty shithouse but it's only 80 rubles and the grub isn't too bad!
No, you don't want to go exploring Zhulebino.
Or most of the South-East of Moscow for that matter. It's full of decrepit industrial buildings and immigrants from the -stans. Stay away from Vykhino, that's their main hub.
I'm a Muscovite and that's probably the worst part of the city.
The closest POI I can think of is Kuzminki park with its Golitsyn's Manor and the ponds.
E: If you're on Android, I'd suggest you get the "Discover Moscow" app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.mos.um Pretty sure there's an IOS app by the same name.
Attitude is to reject the truth, hide it, and tell people to not have sex. Similar to some Republican states really but with more administrative resources. We used to have sex Ed about this, not sure if that's still a thing. If you will use public transport, buy Troika card. If you charge it by money, it will be much cheaper than single trip ticket. 38₽ against 55₽. And if you will be here more than a week, you can buy "60 trips" for about 2170₽, which means every trip will cost you 36₽. But it works only 30 days. You can also use your card as much times at a row(for example you can pay for your family member, your family member number 2 and then for yourself and there is no cooldown, but it is only in metro). You can buy single, double, and five trips tickets and charge your card in every automat on the metro stations. There are automats on every station. To buy Troika you need to go to metrk sales desk, its also on stations. You can charge it here too. You cant charge Troika outside the metro, but you can buy regular tickets in every type of public transport. To see the time when bus arrives i recomend yandex. transport(link 1) and for metro map yandex. metro(link 2). transport metro If we talk about landscapes: you definetly need to see Moscow panorama from Ostankino teletower, see Moscow State University, Moscow City and take a walk in city center: my favourite places is district of Mayakovskaya station(line 2), Zamoscvorechye district, Arbat and Tsvetnoy Bulvar. Also you must see city's "park line" that starts from Peter The Great monument(Krymskaya promenade) with Museon, then Central Park of Culture and Rest Gorkogo and Vorobyovy Gory. Also, in the last park there is unique metro station(Vorobyevy Gory), that is literally in the air: its in the bridge. Also dont forget multiple churches and temples: Cathedral of Christ the Saver, Elohovsky Cathedral, Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and much much more
Hope you understood what i've wrote, and my tips will be useful
I am as well, and I would suggest getting a set of vocabulary flash cards like the one I have - here. For declensions, I've learned basically to make my own charts since most sources are too confusing. Now I have no problem with any except when I mix up instrumental and dative cases.
I just thought I could give you a more healthy and affordable alternative.
Just remember that you are willing to pay $10-15 for a single jar of peanut butter here when it costs $20 for a pack of 6 in the US. Also, that $70-100 peace of technology would be also useful in other scenarios.
