>instanced pve raids are not a major part of any of the games Steven draws inspiration from when creating ashes of creation.
Don't all these games have instanced PVE content, though? There's a large difference between "the game should focus on instanced PVE content" and "there should be no instanced PVE content at all". Even EVE, a game fairly famous for embracing the sandbox approach, has added instanced PVE in the past two years. The initial implementation was solo, but they fairly quickly added 3-man versions of the deadspace, for frigates (although this being EVE people typically solo them or triple box them) and just a few days ago they announced that they were further expanding it, with a tier 6, for even more difficult and rewarding play, and a tier 0, meant to allow more players to jump into this sort of content without needing a half a billion isk-fit gila.
If all this is part of the design of these games that are being used as inspiration, it's reasonable to ask whether or not there's a mistake being made in ignoring them, or contravening them.
Issue 3 is up! I'm not using Tapas as the main link, because I'm pissed off they are now massively compressing files and making things look bad. Still, it's posted there for the time being, looking into other hosting options. (You can click the image in the forums for the full resolution)
Hope you guys like this one! It's the first where I wrote the draft, so it's an insight into more of my style of humor. Lots more of all varieties to come, feedback always welcome.
I have an issue with the legendary path containing recycled assets : reference https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/epic-games-releases-12-million-worth-of-paragon-assets-for-free. Two hero models you obtain from the path and the default male model are directly ripped from these assets, obviously there will be no need for these models to be transferred into the game but however I feel it shows proof that intrepid threw the cash shop into the br for a cash grab instead of waiting to provide meaningful cash worthy items. While I personally feel they should have a cash shop I don’t feel that it needed to be operational this early

" We’re designing for forward compatibility, so you can get started with next-gen development now in UE4 and move your projects to UE5 when ready. "
https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/a-first-look-at-unreal-engine-5
You're thinking of UE3, which was a disaster for MMO's. Mainly because it was closed source.
Anything in UE4 can be modified and changed, it's engine code is completely transparent and can be viewed by anyone. In contrast developers can change UE4 to create a custom coded version of UE4 for their project. https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/ue4-on-github
There's a reason the a lot of projects are now adopting UE4 and it's because they can modify the engine if it's behavior doesn't suite them. Project N1 is an MMORPG just announced that they're making in UE4 as well.
It's a software called Agisoft, it creates a model from 3D Stills. https://www.agisoft.com/pdf/PS_1.1%20-Tutorial%20(BL)%20-%203D-model.pdf
He then used that model in Unreal Engine 4 on what appears to be a demo level.
I personally like fancy Chinese weapons, so like a skin of twin hooks for swords or a Shaolin spade for staves would be cool.
The best kind of stories are the ones that players themselves create through the tools provided by developers. Stories which are written in books such as this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Empires-EVE-History-Great-Online-ebook/dp/B01DONPR0M/
I hope Intrepid won't waste much time on creating any pre-written stories in game and instead focus more on giving players tools to create their own stories like these.
