As far as I know I haven’t found an audio extractor capable of doing 120hz. In fact this is the only audio extractor under $100 that will do 4K 60.

I know this is months ago but I wanted to let you know I found a work around for your issue as I ran into the same thing.
The base station needs power to allow the passthrough to work which would mean your ps5 would have to be on anytime you wanted to use your soundbar because rest mode doesn't provide enough power to the base station to keep it on.
The work around is to get a powered digital audio splitter and plug in input end to TV optical port and one output to base station and the other to soundbar.
Link to the splitter I purchased; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1KHWGB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I think the buzzing comes from conncecting your aux into the computer. Something about interferences. Someone recommended this noise isolator . I’m getting it tomorrow but I think this is what’s going to help eliminate that buzzing sound.
When I plug the ps4 single headphone mic 3.5 into the turtle beach or the controller direct it picks up the mic on that cable.
Curious if it’s the original cable being bad the 2.5-2.5 cable for the a50s because the Xbox recognizes a mic when the 3.5 - 2.5 adapter is plugged In controller direct or to the turtle beach.
Here’s the 3.5 - 2.5 that’s coming!

Hey, I wanted to update you that I finally got it to work by purchasing this cable
Thanks for all of your help. Now I'm working on some feedback issues, but I think I've got it from here.
I’ve heard their extractors are garbage. Get one from Amazon.

I've seen is somewhere else too (I think Astro put out a blog giving the specs and reasoning behind them out), but the Amazon listing has it as HDMI 2.0b
I would check if you have an optical out on your tv/monitor. I ended up using that because the audio quality is exactly the same, but my video connection is no longer limited by an adapter.
What frame rates it supports comes down to the HDMI type used/ ability to transfer data. Assuming the adapter is HDMI 2.0 there should be no issues passing 4k@60hz or 1080@120hz signal. With that said, go buy an adapter off of Amazon if you cant get your hands on the overpriced Astro one. I bought this one and now chat mix works like it should.
I did also buy a J-tech digital one but it must have been faulty as i could not get the optical to light up/pass signal, so i cant really recommend one of those. This is the original one i bought that was DOA. J-tech
Hope this helps some people.
Yeh as stated above you can get a little optical switch box so you don’t have to physically keep changing cables off Amazon

I recently picked up a headphone stand from Amazon, here’s the link for it: SAMDI Leather Headphone Stand... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NQC73FY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The reason I went with this style is because it fully supports the head band, and I like the black leather. I’ve heard people complaining about the stands that only supports the center of head band (banana style) and leaves an indent over time.

PlayStation does not support Dolby Atmos for games (only for movies, and only Atmos for home theatre, which requires an HDMI-connected Atmos receiver).
The A50’s Dolby processing takes a Dolby Digital 5.1/7.1 signal, normally meant for a 6- or 8-speaker setup, and makes it sound like surround in the headset, which is ultimately stereo.
HDMI adapters that support 4K/120 have begun to appear on the market, but they’re pricey — one example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4
On PC, the MixAmp is a sound card, and supports USB alone for its EQ presets, Dolby Digital processing (which should be off for Atmos) & Game/Voice balance.
On consoles, EQ & Dolby require optical, but on Xbox, Game/Voice supports USB only (unlike on PlayStation); if your monitor has a headphone port, you can use an analog-to-digital converter to regain optical: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5
The analog connection is stereo only, but Dolby Atmos for Headphones only needs (& only supports) stereo.
This is the only HDMI adapter I’ve seen so far that supports 4K/120 (but it’s pricey): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4
Alternatively, you could use an analog-to-digital converter from the monitor’s headphone port, but the audio would be only stereo: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5
You can, but the MixAmp needs firmware 36789 to receive Xbox game audio by USB.
Or, if the monitor has a headphone port, you can use an analog-to-digital converter (stereo only; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5), plus Dolby Atmos for Headphones for virtual Atmos 3D audio (or Dolby Digital 7.1) over stereo.
Since it has a headphone port, you can use an analog-to-digital converter, which is guaranteed not to limit the picture quality: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5
The monitor’s output & converter’s input are stereo only, but Dolby Atmos for Headphones can provide virtual Atmos 3D audio or Dolby Digital 7.1 over stereo.
This is only 0.5m, but there exist 4-pole/TRRS extension cables: https://www.astrogaming.com/products/accessories/cable-adapters/0-5m-vr-cable-a40-tr-a10.993-001486.html
Astro had a 1.0m A40 Mobile Cable, but they appear to have discontinued it. However: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X2NDTT1
The end that plugs into the A40 headset must be 5-pole, which is non-standard, so unfortunately, you can’t just use a regular 4-pole cable.
If your screen is a TV with optical out, connect that to your base station or MixAmp.
For a monitor, if it has a headphone port, you can use an analog-to-digital converter to enable Astro EQ (along with Atmos for Headphones, which can provide virtual Dolby Digital 7.1 for non-Atmos content): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5
This adapter worked for me to get 120hz 1080p on my monitor
If your mute cable looks like this, it’s an A40 TR Inline Mute Cable, whose button is meant for the Gen 3 MixAmp’s digital mic mute.
But if your MixAmp matches the pic you posted, then it’s Gen 4, which uses an analog mic mute, for which you need the non-TR A40 Inline Mute Cable.
This is the only HDMI adapter I’ve seen so far that supports 4K at 120 Hz (but it’s pricey): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4
I mean the make & model of the screen the PS5 uses. Depending on its specs, you may not need that particular adapter.
The A50’s EQ presets require optical on console (but only USB on PC), so yes, optical will improve the sound quality on Xbox Series X.
For Dolby Digital, you need an HDMI adapter that supports 5.1-channel audio — this is the only one I know of that will also handle 4K/120 video to your monitor (but it’s pricey): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4
But for Dolby Atmos for Headphones (included with the A50 Gen 4 for Xbox, and made for use over stereo), a much cheaper option is an analog-to-digital converter, including (but not limited to) this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5
For Xbox audio settings, see my comment above.
With HDMI-to-optical, you can use either (1) Dolby Digital (if the adapter supports 5.1 channels) or (2) Dolby Atmos for Headphones, with these settings:
Xbox > Settings > General > Volume & audio output * Advanced > Additional options * Mute speaker audio when headset attached: Unchecked * Volume options * Chat mixer: Do nothing * Party chat output: Headset * Option 1 * Speaker audio > HDMI audio: Dolby Digital * Headset audio > Headset format: Stereo uncompressed (A50: Dolby or Star, your preference) * Option 2 * Headset audio > Headset format: Dolby Atmos for Headphones (A50: Star) * overrides Speaker audio to match (HDMI outputs Atmos for Headphones)
Depending on both your monitor’s specs & its own, an HDMI adapter may limit the best resolution + frame rate you can set — this is the first one I’ve seen that supports HDMI 2.1 for 4K at 120 Hz (but it’s pricey): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4
But if your monitor has a headphone port, another option is an analog-to-digital converter (stereo input only, but Atmos for Headphones is made for stereo): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5
https://www.amazon.com/Extractor-Optical-Toslink-Splitter-Converter/dp/B08R5RB41Q/ref=sr_1_15?crid=2AZTG13Y3P9BY&keywords=HDMI+Audio+Extractor&qid=1667678233&s=industrial&sprefix=hdmi+audio+extractor%2Cindustrial%2C111&sr=1-15 This one works for me at 1440p/120Hz
Funny thing is it's way cheaper than the A40 splitter also lmao.
One thing you could check before though is to turn off Adaptive sync/freesync and see if that would work. My monitor wont go to 1440p/120Hz unless I turn that off as VRR on my monitor is only to the 100Hz range
https://www.amazon.com/Extractor-Optical-Toslink-Splitter-Converter/dp/B08R5RB41Q/ref=sr_1_15?crid=2AZTG13Y3P9BY&keywords=HDMI+Audio+Extractor&qid=1667678233&s=industrial&sprefix=hdmi+audio+extractor%2Cindustrial%2C111&sr=1-15 This one also works perfectly and is only $22 from Amazon.
> if I use an optical port converter I will lose 120hz
From HDMI to optical, you might, depending on the adapter’s capabilities — but since your monitor has a headphone port, another option is an analog-to-digital converter, such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5
The monitor’s audio output & converter’s input are stereo only, but Dolby Atmos for Headphones ($15 USD after a 7-day trial) can provide virtual Atmos 3D spatial audio, or Dolby Digital 7.1, over stereo.
No delay at all. And I think the one you mentioned is quite expensive.

No it doesn't. The astro website says it does in the blog post but it doesn't work. I got the adapter and whenever it's added to the chain 120hz is not available. Without the adapter it is.
And here is your 4k solution.
The Astro adapter doesn't support it despite the Astro blog claiming it does. You'll need a new HDMI passthrough device. Make sure it supports HDMI 2.0 18 Gbps bandwidth.

its $60 aud but from what i can tell with mine its a genuine product
Do you have the mixamp? Are you playing on a TV or a monitor? You can just pull optical audio out of your TV to your mixamp. Or you can get an audio extractor to get optical audio into the mixamp. If you're playing a game with 120hz though I'm not sure what extractor will be compatible.
I got an HDMI 2.1 extractor that handles 120/4k last week. It’s 3x the price but there are hardly any that’ll handle that spec.

Hey, is this the one you've got?

Is there a trick to getting it to maintain 1440p? Everytme I start a game in 1440p/120hz, it drops the resolution down to 1080.
I ordered one and it is working for me.
https://www.amazon.com/Extractor-Optical-Toslink-Splitter-Converter/dp/B08R5RB41Q/ref=sr_1_2_sspa
make sure you set your audio to AV Amp, you can't use Linear PCM (I'm using DTS), and make sure the box itself it switched to 5.1. I tested with Destiny 2. I get video signal at 1440p and surround. I'm beyond thrilled to finally have a working solution.
Without any adapter or converter, you can only connect the A50’s AUX port (on the Game side) to the monitor’s headphone port.
However, AUX does not enable the A50’s EQ presets, which require optical on console. For that, you have 3 options: 1. an analog-to-digital converter, which will enable EQ & Game/Voice balance, but will be stereo only; 2. a USB-to-optical converter, which will enable EQ + Tempest 3D audio, but not Game/Voice balance; or 3. an HDMI-to-optical adapter, which will enable EQ, Dolby Digital & Game/Voice balance, but may limit your resolution + frame rate — so far, only this one seems to support 4K at 120 Hz: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4
Using TV optical is free, and doesn’t limit resolution or frame rate like an HDMI adapter might — if your TV supports 4K at 120 Hz, only this adapter doesn’t bottleneck that (so far): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4
If your TV optical supports 5.1 surround from HDMI, great; if not, Dolby Atmos for Headphones has a 7-day trial to help you decide if you want to buy it.

If your TV optical supports 5.1 surround from HDMI, great; if not, Dolby Atmos for Headphones has a 7-day trial to help you decide if you want to buy it.
Since Xbox Series X maxes out at 120 Hz (at all resolutions), and your monitor is only 1080p, any HDMI 2.0-2.0b optical adapter should support the best picture.
However, if you want to be future-proof, this is the first adapter I’ve seen that supports 4K at 120 Hz: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4
If the monitor has a headphone or line output, another option is an analog-to-digital converter (stereo only, but Dolby Atmos for Headphones provides virtual 3D spatial audio over stereo): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5

For a monitor, this is the first 4K/120-capable extractor I’ve seen: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4

If you think it's this product best to order something different rather than another one. I have one of these but it won't pass 120hz.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074HHSJVN/r
Also just throwing this out there but what type of TV do you have? Many TVs now have optical audio outs on them so you can just plug your optical into the TV itself rather than needing any kind of device in between the console and the TV to split the audio signal.
The Halo edition is Gen 2, which (ironically?) does not support Xbox by USB.
For game audio, you need optical (via a TV, HDMI adapter or analog-to-digital converter), or aux (from a TV or monitor).
For voice chat, you need a cable like this from the headset to the controller, which by this diagram is 2.5mm “standard headset” to 3.5mm CTIA.
Here’s one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W5GNZX5
There are others, if you want to compare ratings & reviews. The input is stereo only, but Dolby Atmos for Headphones (with MixAmp Dolby off) can provide virtual surround sound.
If you play PS5 on a TV with an optical output, connect that to the A50.
If you use a monitor, this is one of the first HDMI adapters (if not the first) to support 4K/120: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B73P5VX4
Anyone have an update on the performance / reliability of this product? OP's linked Amazon landing page has 3 out of 5 stars, with reported VRR issues & black screens while using equipment like an Xbox Series X.
Also, it seems the product has been re-listed by the seller (AVFABUL).
I can't tell of any discernible change in the product listing aside from the manufacturer part number, somewhat hilariously re-named:

Sorry, I didn't reply earlier! Been busy, but the reviews seems good. I wanna buy one, but also feel like the minute I do, Astro will announce an PS5 mixamp or something lol.
I use a active (powered) USB extension and it works fine. The one I have is 32' long. Long cords need their own power source to avoid loss. Anyway it is a workaround for the problem.
The Astro has power all the time. It is dumb to have a 30' cable coiled up but it works. I have been using this since the PS5 launched. Granted it is disappointing. You could also look at USB2 - USB3 adapters. Astro should certainly test all of this and supply a solution. I think the normal Dual Shock also doesn't charge on a regular USB2 and the Astro is USB2. It is especially frustrating because the Xbox works fine.
This is the one I have but any active/powered usb3 cable will work.

Found this thread while searching for the same problem - the fabric around the foam was coming off and the cushion was slipping out. Astro doesn't sell anything helpful, but there are off brand options on amazon where you peel off the original cushion from the magnetic section and reapply a new one that sticks. Thought I'd come back here and mention it. Not the strongest glue but I don't think it needs to be, really.
It's a shame astro doesn't sell them anymore, but these will do. The ones I bought are these but I'm sure there are other options: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0995YM3B7/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_image\_o01\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you want optical for the Astro Command Center EQ presets, and your monitor has a headphone port, you can use an analog-to-digital converter, connected like this:
Xbox > (HDMI) > monitor > (aux) > converter (optical) > A50
The headphone port’s output & converter’s input are stereo only, but Dolby Atmos for Headphones is made for stereo. And if you want only Astro EQ to really apply, in Dolby Access > Settings > Game: * Performance Mode: Off * Intelligent Equalizer: Off (effectively flat or zero EQ, to add to Astro EQ; x + 0 = x)
If your monitor has a headphone port, you can try an analog-to-digital converter plus Dolby Atmos for Headphones for 3D spatial audio over stereo (free with the A50 Gen 4 for Xbox).
What firmware numbers does Astro Command Center on Xbox say you currently have?
Unfortunately. The PS5 came out after the a50 gen 4 and the usb connection doesn’t provide sound. You can get this off Amazon J-Tech Digital 4K 60HZ HDMI Audio Extractor Converter SPDIF + 3.5MM Output Supports HDMI 2.0, 18Gpbs Bandwidth, HDCP 2.2, Dolby Digital/DTS Passthrough CEC, HDR10 [JTD18G-H5CH] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074HHSJVN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EE694KWY0CB5V9PMHCFD or the official Astro one which is a bit more expensive. You’ll need to use the optical in on the base station and the usb connection will work for your voice chat
I actually use one of these cables to charge my A50s pretty much exclusively. It’s really nice if I stand up to walk away and forget to take off the headset when it’s plugged in.
You could use an analog-to-digital converter like this one on the switch’s 3.5mm output. Otherwise, you just have to set the PC’s 3.5mm output as the default device when not using the headset.
The Gen 1 A50 requires optical for game audio. You can get either * an HDMI adapter for Dolby Digital 5.1 (which might limit your monitor’s resolution & frame rate, depending on what it’s capable of), or * an analog-to-digital converter like this (stereo input only, but Windows Sonic / Dolby Atmos for Headphones is made for stereo).
The MixAmp needs optical for EQ presets on console, but on Xbox (& PC), it supports Game/Voice balance via USB only.
If your monitor has a headphone port, you could try an analog-to-digital audio converter like this, and use Dolby Atmos for Headphones (free with the Gen 4 MixAmp for Xbox) to receive virtualized Atmos 3D spatial audio (or Dolby Digital 7.1) via stereo.

I’ve not tried a pair of leather ear pads on my A50s but when I was using a pair of the Arctis 9x I bought this same brand of leather ear pads. They were pretty durable. Link is below:

Hello,
I ended up buying this from Amazon and so far they work perfectly! If anyone else is looking to do something similar I would recommend these:
I have a workaround to charge it I found a usb switch you can power external and now I can quickly switch between my ps5 and my pc if you plug a micro usb in the switch than that cable will power the astro dock it works perfectly for me USB switch
You need to get a ground loop isolator
That will get rid of the noise and allow you to use the 3.5 audio jack from the PC

Got this in hopes of the auxiliary jack that it comes with working. Looks like I’ll plug it directly into the laptop-aux cord to Astro base station. Hoping that’s the answer! Okay thanks for some insight. Had no clue about CTIA or OMTP
Did you ever find an extractor that worked with PS5 with Samsung Odyssey g7? I tried the Jtech audio extractor (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074HHSJVN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).
It wouldn't output 4k60 (only 1080p).
So I had the very same problem ok.
Here is me fix, but it does involve spending some money.
I got this hdmi audio extractor online and it works flawlessly.
It worked on my XBSS/XBSX both with Astros a4p and ATP 1st gen.
That looks crazy but damn 400 is a bit crazy for a amp. So that audio extractor you sent me the link for will allow me to use 1440p at 120hz?? I looked it up and read it and it said it doesnt mention 2k at 120. I entered a question of does it support 1440p at 120 and it doesnt. Heres the link for the 2.1 hdmi AE https://www.amazon.com/CABLEDECONN-Splitter-Converter-Compatible-Projectors/dp/B08PKJZ7QB/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?crid=124Y7HEOJNU3V&keywords=2.1+audio+extractor&qid=1645153891&sprefix=2.1+audio+extractor%2Caps%2C128&sr=8-15
Another option is an analog-to-digital converter like this, between the monitor’s headphone output & the A50’s optical input.
It will support stereo only, but Dolby Atmos for Headphones (free with the Gen 4 A50 for Xbox) can provide virtual Atmos 3D spatial audio, or Dolby Digital 7.1, via stereo.
Thanks for your reply. This is the type of cable my headset came with. There is no mute switch on it. The headset also came with a cable to be used with the mixamp but does not work without the mixamp.. The mixamp cable has the mute button, volume, etc.
I got a logitech Bluetooth adapter Logitech Wireless Bluetooth Audio... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IJYG4FY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share it has no mic support when you get a call with it though but it is a great adaptor though , I also have this I haven't tested it with the astros but it worked with my steelseries headset ill test it tomorrow and I could let you know if it works KitSound Bluetooth Wireless Music Adaptor 2, Bluetooth Headphones Adaptor/Transmitter Receiver, Convert Any Speaker, Headphones, TV, Radio, Laptop or More into a Bluetooth Compatible Device, Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071ZM6ZYH/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_B359GJQDHFWMBRFGB8ZD
Yeah both are great options. Really depends on how much you care about the little receiver and the double battery that the steel series has. IMO it’s not worth that much more over the Virtuoso considering I never have battery issues with the Virtuoso. I use it all day, plug in at night and it’s perfect.
If you have money to burn, go with SS but if you’d like to be slightly smart about the purchase I’d recommend the Virtuoso.
As for tuning, the Virtuoso comes with iCue software (which has improved a lot recently and I like it a lot). It has a section to tune the headset that’s easy to use. It’s not science and I, by no means have a trained ear so it’s really just messing with it until it sounds best to you. I found what I like and it sounds awesome.
Also, I bought these ear pads: Earpads Compatible with Virtuoso... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HYL7RB1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
They are extremely soft and super easy to take on and off (plenty of YT vids about how). You lose some of the sound isolation that the leather pads give you but it’s sooooo worth the comfort.
No mention of mini-TOSLINK (the optical connector), so you need either: * an HDMI-optical adapter, connected to either the main laptop directly, or the dock; or * an aux-to-optical converter like this (stereo input only, but Dolby Atmos for Headphones — $15 USD after a 7-day trial — provides virtual Dolby Atmos 3D spatial audio, or Dolby Digital 7.1, over stereo).
Or you could simply connect the A50’s AUX port to the laptop, for Game-side audio (but it would be plain stereo only, unaffected by the A50’s Dolby button).
I bought these for mine since they are way cheaper than Astro's version. I bought the A40 version also. I have had mine for about a year and a half on the A50 and a little less than a year for the A40. Well worth the price and have been holding up better than the branded ones. They do have a velour one also, but I like the leatherette one personally. Feels more premium and seals better. Also these have a decent bit more padding, so if you have a bigger head keep that in mind.
You can use either: * an HDMI-to-optical adapter (Astro or other) for Dolby Digital 5.1; or * if your monitor has a headphone port, an aux-to-optical converter like this — its input is stereo only, but Windows Sonic for Headphones (free on Xbox & Windows 10) & Dolby Atmos for Headphones ($15 USD after a 7-day trial) are made for stereo.
Depending on your monitor’s highest resolution + refresh rate combo, the former might prevent it (HDMI 2.0b adapters don’t support 4K at 120 Hz), but the latter won’t.
Probably, since no extractor on the market currently supports HDMI 2.1 — however, there are other ways to regain optical without compromising on resolution or frame rate: * TV: most have their own optical output * monitor: if it has a headphone port, you can use an aux-to-optical converter like this one; its input is stereo only, but on Xbox, Dolby Atmos for Headphones ($15 USD after a 7-day trial, unless you have a Gen 4 A50 or MixAmp Pro TR for Xbox) can provide virtual Dolby Atmos 3D spatial audio, or Dolby Digital 7.1, over stereo
