Heres how I started this video: https://youtu.be/aAxGTnVNJiE
I suggest these hooks from Amazon; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHHJ1TV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabt1_HEdXFbPVXE3YN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
They come with stitch markers, a few sewing needles and amazing crochet hooks all for 10 dollars.
After that all you need is yarn and time.
I highly recommend watching the above video then trying to do each part piece by piece. Like making the chain, watch her do it, then rewind it and try it yourself. Its much easier with a video imo.

I really like Clover hooks, but they're pricey. This set on Amazon has been good to me and it's cheap!
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00O3GHFA0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_L9GdFb9X5V5G9 I recommend this one, I have bought this three times for myself, aunt and MIL.
I have the one pictured too and it was rubbish the guide never stayed up and caused tangles. Not had any problems with the one in the link.
I've always heard of people using pompom makers like this one but I have never used one myself. My first beanie I made was a rectangle I stitched together like you're doing and I was pretty pleased with it
Under $10 yarn cutter pendant
Great for people who crochet on the go. I love mine. I wear it a lot and get complimented/asked about it all the time.
Them: that's a beautiful pendant
Me: It's a KNIFE!
looks awesome! i got these round metal hangers on amazon and i crochet mine right onto the hanger, they make great wall art
Basically its a way of turning the skeins you get at the store into a slightly different 'standard' form, now typically this is used for an outside going in pull for knitting (prevents wrong-way twisting of the yarn) but i find it -incredibly- useful for center pull crocheting due to the consistent tension and it makes packing a project miles easier too
If you check my post history (bout to add a link if i can by edit we'll see if i can find it) i recently made a post in yarnaddicts about finally getting my entire stash uniformly caked which is something i had been attempting by hand before this
Now i can do 3 skeins into 1 cake in about 5-13 mins depending on how cooperative the yarn is
I found this cheap-as-hell set on Amazon last year. I'm pretty picky about hooks and I really dig these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08QYWVZ9Q/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
oh sorry thats fine. An 'ergonomic' hook is basically made so that its easier to hold (for most people) and hurts your hands less (for most people)
Ill see if I can take a picture of mine and upload it
or find a google pic
but basically mine have a cushioned / rubber ish grip thats wider than the rest of the hook. So the grip is wider than the hook.
pretty similar to these;
https://www.amazon.com/Crochet-hooks-crochet-kits-crochet-hook-set/dp/B072LC5SMF/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=ergonomic+crochet+hooks&qid=1657745887&sr=8-6

...in fact they might be the same. My friend got me them so IDK where from, but the pic looks very similar
That is definitely larger than a C cup! So, wearing crochet as a bra is very interesting. I have a crocheted bikini that is a one piece. When I first put it on, it looks amazing. However, the fabric stretches as I move around in it. Also, when water is involved, it stretches even more. I think if you really want to understand how crochet fits boobs, I’d recommend buying one of those stickie bras like this one https://www.amazon.com/Wingslove-Reusable-Strapless-Adhesive-Invisible/dp/B07C5FKCX6/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?adgrpid=58605888200&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIld2vpd_n-AIVmTytBh3hhQCuEAAYASAAEgJgdfD_BwE&hvadid=557324025091&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9031944&...
I mean, u might not want to bc it’ll definitely stick to your chest hair, BUT you could wear it over a tank top. Because once you wear the crocheted top and move around, you will get a better idea on how to size them properly as it’s a very finicky fabric especially in an area like the boobs.
Thanks :)
It's only a slightly adjusted pattern for a rug (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crocheted-Animal-Rugs-Vanessa-Mooncie/dp/1784945854?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_dls&dplnkId=dc480f3b-cc7f-4ca6-8930-1d7473f36494) - changed the shape of the head to make it hoodlike and added some anchor stitches between the front and back layers to help it keep its shape.
Knot Monsters balloon animal book is available for free on Kindle unlimited! Super fun and easy to make 😁
Great forever balloon pup!
No problem on US flights for needles or even small scissors, but I got a yarn cutter “pendant” that I put on a keychain ring attached to my WIP bag.

This one is only $24 on Amazon. Super worth it IMO if you use skeins that need to be wound regularly. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O3GHFA0/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_QAKGYKDS7QQAQN2A7X4H?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I actually saw it randomly at Michaels and bought it there but I found this link for it on Amazon.
You mean like this ?
I could totally see doing it (haven’t before) out of two strands of like cotton and bamboo. Durable, washable, pretty easy care. Or like tshirt yarn. That would be a good choice too, I think.
I believe this would be the one for you! Can't take the credit for it though, I only know this type of yarn exists due to u/MrsSterling 's post =)
Let me know how it goes!
I got it from amazon (link) some reviews say the arm isn’t strong enough to hold up phone but I haven’t had issue with it. As far as the length, I do think it’s too short to film overhead like in your picture, but if you clamp it on something higher it’s great. I clamp mine on the shelf above my desk.
Hi CJ,
This is the Ms. Martinez's website that I used along her video.
It was mostly half double crochet back loop only to enable the pattern to have visible ribbing.
For the yarn, I linked to Amazon but I actually bought it from a local shop (middle east). It was a lion brand yarn 🧶
Thanks it looked nice and bright I was hoping that would make it easier to see. Still having trouble counting the double crochet. The yarn shade is 180089 Korbond Double-Knit Yarn - Bright Green – 100g Ball of Acrylic Wool – Knitting or Crochet – Hypoallergenic & Vegan
It will if you add a ruff of brown all around the head to be the Lion's mane.
It kinda resembles this.
Otherwise, it looks more like a bear.
Two things really helped me, a crochet ring and these crochet hooks. I hate the feel of the rubber used for ergonomic hooks, these ones have wooden handles. 9Pcs Color Wooden Handle Crochet Hooks Ergonomic Crochet Hooks Set Crochet Hook Needles for Arthritic Hands (A) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08ZJFRYRQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_47B9KQCGNFVBT093MNNP?psc=1
Hi! Looking for some crochet gift ideas and ergonomic seems great. Is it just a matter of “ergonomic crochet hooks” on Amazon (ones w thick handles), or are there very specific must-use ones elsewhere… thank you!
Ps. I’m a total noob but a relative is getting good at it and uses the non-ergs, that’s my giftee.
Sharing this link only for reference. I found one of these at my local craft store (for knitting and crochet) and I thought this was a very valuable resource to have. I’ll admit I still feel like I had to use other sources to fill in some gaps, but I still liked having this to start myself off. Boye Learn to Crochet
The yarn should be running through your fingers! It shouldn't be a struggle to hold the yarn. It should flow evenly as you work your stitches.
If the yarn is tight around your fingers, your tension is too tight. Try winding the yarn through your fingers without wrapping it completely around any fingers. If your hook is falling out of its handle, glue it back in. You shouldn't have to keep fixing your hook! I bought these hooks a year ago and I love them! There are different options available. I have the aluminum hooks with bamboo handles(sizes 2.5mm - 6mm) I highly recommend these as they are surprisingly good quality, super lightweight, and extremely comfortable in my hand. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0844VB8HP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_BPBAV5PXQPSQYHFX32GA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I hope this is helpful! Happy crocheting!🧶💚
Thank you!!! I used plastic cake tier rods, easy to cut and manipulate to a smaller size. Pretty cheap on Amazon: Wilton Plastic Dowel Rods, Each https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000VM44Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_R22HGMG6JRH7S34BDV9V?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The eyes are safety beads from a pretty cheap, but durable, kit off Amazon (linked below--I'm on mobile). The mouths are puffy paint, as well as the checks and faint eyebrows situation. I'm struggling with embroidering on top of yarn, so I've tried to streamline my kindergarten crafts-level skill as much as possible. :)

12 skeins in basic v stitch
It is Lion Brand Mandala Baby yarn! I bought it earlier this year, not sure how available this exact color is. Here’s a link to what I found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Lion-Brand-Mandala-Rainbow-Falls/dp/B07B9NVT7Y
You’re best option here is to use a smaller yarn that matches the hook sizes you do have or to order a hook online, theres an awesome crochet set from amazon with a range of hooks and other accessories.

If you can do Tunisian crochet, this one by Kat Goldin on Ravelry looks pretty great (I just bought the book off Amazon and am going to make this for myself).
ETA: it's not free, but the book wasn't that expensive and there are lots of cool patterns in it.
If she already has plain aluminum Boye hooks, I use this thing to make them more ergonomic. It looks silly but it completely stopped the hand and wrist cramps I used to get if I crocheted for too long.
