He wrote a follow up book on this subject that basically says you can’t just not talk to police. You have to request a lawyer and only talk to police once your lawyer is present. If I remember correctly in the book he explains there have been some rulings that let them consider complete silence as admission of guilt. Been a while since I read it though so I’m sure I’m missing the nuance.

it gives examples of people doing this. when the attacker is used to and expecting scared people who don't want any trouble, and he gets someone who has practice drawing and shooting, he's at a huge disadvantage. also even if he's pointing a gun at you, unless he's ready for it, he probably won't have the reaction speed to comprehend what's happening until after you've shot him.
at least according to jeff cooper, who i tend to trust in this regard.
You know those pop-up tents for tailgating and whatnot, the rolling bag they come with is perfect for carrying long guns, and everything else. And it rolls. Any one asks, tell them you use it at volunteer events, cause you’re a great dude.
I've done this a bunch of times.
The answer is "yes," provided:
I went through TSA about fives times with this case and four locks similar to these.
Here's how that looks:
This has been pretty consistent, in my experience.
Hope that helps! Open to any questions.
Buy a Copper Basin takedown bag. Slap a small inconspicuous lock on the zipper. Remove the Velcro patch on the front pocket. Looks like a cross between a hiking pack and a regular backpack.

Like I said, I agree.
But pick a random case. Click the docket. Click County or State Court of Appeals. And read some of the bullshit that spews forth from liberal judges mouths in their judgements. Then correlate who appointed them.
It's like they don't even think regular people with two grey brain cells to rub together reads these things. And then it becomes "precedent" because their peers and superiors in SCOTUS don't call them out on this nonense.
The Courts have become the legal version of Idiocracy in their fever-dream of "Orange Man Bad". Even if he was bad. Even if he is now gone. That's what I'm commenting on.
Mad props to FPC. But we're past the Soap, Ballot, and Jury boxes at this point. And Ammo box is being "common sensed" into oblivion with Rona pricing and Rhode vs. Becerra $19/30-day registration and background checks.
They should have folded it in half before laminating it. From MidwayUSA with zero shopping around I can get a new trigger for $10 less than you want for used.
New TRS-25 from Amazon for $1.88 more than what you want for used and the Bushnell rebate is still going on so that Amazon price is BEFORE a $40 MIR.

Legally, yes imo. The chances of you ever getting inspected are astronomical, but in case ATF wants to see your book, you can show it to them even if it doesn't contain any firearm acquisitions or dispositions. The FFL 03 package ATF sends you actually contains a miniature book for tracking transactions, as I recall - Amazon also sells a good one for $20.

edit: Why does it have to be permanently attached? I put a cheap, amazon lockbox with a digital keypad in each of our family's vehicles. Has a cable that loops around the car seat where it's bolted in the floor. That youtube lockpicking lawyer could get into one in a minute or less I am sure, but I suspect whatever crackhead breaks into my vehicle next won't get past it. Been years since one of my cars was broken into by someone smart enough to actually steal the stereo.
Or you can also buy MTM 50 cal cans for 1/2 cent cheaper, they weight much less, made in USA instead of China, have no problems with stacking, and can be padlocked.
Just an R&R off Amazon. I only have experience with leather holsters, but so far I’m happy with this. Didn’t have to make any modifications to mine like some have done according to the reviews. Just enough hold to keep it in place while sitting and doing whatever else while out camping or on BLM. Smooth draws and returns. Haven’t had any hang ups.

They also had solid customer service. They'd accidentally sent me two pair and just told me to keep the second on the house.
I've been told by several range friends that I need to just get regular noise cancelling muffs because I yell at ranges which is annoying to them... But I'd rather be obnoxiously loud for 4 hours every weekend at a range than obnoxiously loud for 40 years everywhere else.
I believe all the InWaistBand (IWB) holster have no retention besides passive/friction holding the gun inside. Most of the brands I mentioned are for self defense/EDC and do not have retention or offer it at an increased price. The two brands you mention are good brands but also lack the retention options.
Yeah the Sig 2022 isn’t the ideal carry gun so not much aftermarket support. You would find more options for the P229 although it isn’t that much more popular.
Some people do shop based on aftermarket support. Would recommend Glock if it fits your hands and CZ if the Glocks don’t feel natural for you. CZ has the best ergonomics on any pistol I have held before, so it’s my most recommended pistol. Plenty of aftermarket support in accessories, slide milling, holsters, parts availability.
I shall try to find some OWB holsters with retention for your Sig 2022.
This has some good reviews for the 2022 with a light

If your asking what it would take to prove to the court that you have indeed left those magazines in CA, I dont think anyone can give you a definite answer. However I can share my opinion of what I would do.
Get an adequate sized safety deposit box at a secure location, Get a sealable box like an ammo container. Video tape yourself putting those magazines in the container and then put on a Tamper seal, and then put in the safety deposit box.
Keep paying for the safety deposit box until you come back into the state. Video tape yourself opening your safety deposit box and taking out your container and breaking the seal revealing the content inside.
Excessive? Yes, Full proof in court? your guess is as good as mine.
> Do you know of anyplace I can get all the required tools in a low priced kit?
You can get them through Amazon.
I would personally buy this hammer and punch set because it includes a pin setting vice thing, and those are awesome. I have a vice like it and use it for handguns as well.
Here's a cheap castle nut wrench.
That's really all you need.
> And any stock works as long as it's fixed right?
True. Lots of people use the Strike Industries Stock Stop to "lock' the stock in place.
I only use them to sight my red dot/holographic scopes. In my CCW class, the instructor had a glock practice pistol that shined a laser when the triggered was pull. Believe it or not, it helped quite a bit. It was very similar to this model. For 5.56/.223, most laser bore sights found off amazon should work just fine. Remember to grab extra batteries as well as they tend to go fairly quickly.

You'll either need a real nice off-road setup to get to the spot you can shoot at via Joshua Tree, or drive down into the Coachella Valley and go through Indio (take the 10/Dillon or the 86/Dillon off ramp and drive into Indio Hills).
This. You can start off buying small quantities from Walmart. Once you figure out approx how many rounds you're using per range trip, then you might conclude it's cheaper and easier to have it delivered to your door.
1000 rounds of 9mm is a couple hundy. But you might pay $80+ with tax for 300 plus the inconvenience/gas to purchase.
For anyone considering privacy.com, just be aware that they require you to supply them with your bank account information or a debit card to fund your account. If either of those pieces of information are compromised the money in your bank account can be stolen without recourse. You won't get it back like when there are fraudulent charges on your credit card. If money is stolen through an ACH transfer or a debit card that money is gone forever.
My preferred solution is to throw a couple of these through the zippers of literally any common gun bag: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JSD5S0G/
If the bag doesn't have two zippers, you can poke a hole in it and put the lock through the hole + zipper.
You won't be able to get that 100% mirror look, but you can probably get 95% there with a couple of rags and a $6 tub of Mother's Mag and aluminum polish.
Its a brand called Tactical Gearz, tbh I wouldn’t recommend it, the screw loosens with use and it causes the knife to wobble a bit (you can tighten it, but everytime??). I own a Mil-spec Springfield Armory 1911 and attached a Recover Tactical grip system to it. Same result for 2/3 the price... maybe?
I think you'll be happy with it either way. 1911s are good.
Elite Survival Systems Stealth Covert Ops Backpack is pretty good if you have an AR or other rifle that can be broken down. It basically looks like a large hiking backpack. I've never had any of my neighbors look twice when walking out to the range with it on.
Also; I currently use this Vaultek VR10 for my Sig Sauer SP2022. My Sig fits a little tight in there, but I’m keeping it because I’ll be getting a Glock 19 once they’re back in stock in my area and putting it in this safe in the Sig’s place. I’m about to order this Vaultek VT20 for my Glock 17 (or swap my Sig in there depending on which fits in the VR10 better).
I totally agree, but it’s really simple, the front fight is just a screw on the inside, and I found this tool on Amazon. Trust me bro, it seems more complicated than it actually is. I’d ask for your money back for the mounting for sure

Don't even need a bullet button, you just need a means of affixing the magazine with a tool. A threaded standoff that fits the threads on the magazine retainer can be cranked down on threaded post with pliers in place of the standard button and spring. Threaded standoff costs a lot less than a bullet button you'll be using for what, 27 more days? The thread on that is 10-32, I think. Super common. $17 for a pack of 10 on Amazon, buy 'em for all your friends!
I just bought this on Amazon but it was mistakenly listed for $1094 and prime shipping so I got a bargain. Shipped to my house no problem.

This case from HQ Issue (Sportsman’s Guide) is fantastic and budget friendly (also available on their website)... I don’t suggest going less expensive than this as the quality drop off is huge... I tried the slightly less expensive case from Flambeau and wasn’t totally happy with it so I returned it... it also has plenty of space for your pistol :

I have the ADM 1.93" mount and it's very comfortable to get cheek weld using a SOCOM style stock and the LPVO. Any 1.93 mount is kinda a must with LPVOs, especially if you plan to shoot it from a standing position. The Socom style stock also helps cheek weld immensely.

I got this one from Amazon, works absolutely perfectly. Lights up briefly enough so I can confirm I "hit" what I was aiming at. I do dry fire for 10 minutes a day with it, working on shooting from both eyes, both hands, etc. Easy way to build up muscle/neural patterns and do it for really cheap. Think about it this way, for $40 you can get near-constant training that would cost you more than that within a month or so. I have a preorder for the Mantis Blackbeard device for my ARs that will let me do the same thing with a trigger reset as well so I don't have to rack it between every dry fire "shot." Huge believer in dry fire training, even for casual shooters it's absolutely critical to building reliable skills in handling, aiming, and trigger discipline. I will likely be ordering a Mantis X3 soon to get more feedback on what I'm doing wrong and try to improve my habits even further.
I would use the box the pistol came in if you have it. If not, Amazon has a hard sided plastic pistol case for $8:
Find/buy a box that fits the case, fill the empty space with peanuts or wadded up paper - you are good to go.
You might want to label the case with your name and address so you get it back.
You can dust the place with a little bit of diatomaceous earth. It's harmless to humans/pets but deadly to most things with exoskeletons (bugs, insects, etc). Just be sure that when you dust, it's very light.
Here's a one with an applicator on Amazon
Yeah, I have some Pelican Vaults. I bought a set of "Peacemakers" (rebranded Commando Locks) off Amazon. They fit perfectly, you can't open the lid at all with them locked, and the set of two lets you lock both corners.

It’s a Cloud Defense Light Control System Mount for my Protac HL-X. I didn’t like how my Protac came with zip ties for the wires so I invested into the mount. > One thing I read from reviews that I don't like about peltor is that they cut out ALL sounds if noise exceeds the db limit, basically it can't reduce loud noises while simultaneously amplifying low ones
I'm pretty sure anything under the $100 price point works that way. I currently own a pair of peltor tac 300s and they seem to use sound compression as opposed to sound cutoff, though I think the tac 100's do use cutoff. I've owned (and still use as loaners) several sets of electronic earmuffs in that $20-$40 range (including howard leight impact sport) and they all used sound cutoff. Not only does sound cutoff make it annoying to talk to people on the range while lots of shooting is happening, but also I'm pretty sure there was enough of a delay between the sound and the cutoff that I was getting a barely perceptible pulse of high pressure sound that would leave my ears ringing after a few hours at the range.
I think it's worth it not to skimp on hearing protection. When you're getting fitted for $6000 hearing aids at the age of 50, you're going to look back and wish you'd splurged an extra 40 bucks for the better earpro.
They actually just came out with a new one that improves on the Sport. They call it the Bolt. It is pretty good.
I use this one, holds 3 pistols (lockable) with 3-4 mags, ears, eyes and ammo fit in the top, tools and clp in front and side pockets. Still have some pockets to fill.

Hey! I’m a bit late to the party, but was just Googling our name (as you do) and saw this post. Not sure if you ever made a purchase from us, but we do ship ammo to FFL’s or C&R holders with an ammo COE in CA. We also ship all the other bits and pieces to CA that aren’t banned there.
The two places with the biggest collections of reviews for us are currently TrustPilot (https://www.trustpilot.com/review/saintbarbsbullets.com) and our GunBroker account (https://www.gunbroker.com/a/feedback/profile/5689528).
The only other thing I can think of mentioning for CA customers is that depending on what you order, we may have to route it to us in WA first, then down to you. This is because we use a combination of keeping stock in our own warehouse, and drop-shipping, and not all of our suppliers will ship direct to CA. If it’s going to add more than 1-2 days to shipping time we let you know, and we obviously don’t charge any extra (same for when we have to jump through hoops for IL, CT, MA, NY etc…).
If you have any other questions let us know!
If you have a BLM spot that close, I would avoid the hassle and cost of the indoor range. If you're planning to teach new shooters, an indoor range isn't the most ideal place either with all the other shooters and over bearing range personnel. They'll feel more comfortable without all the distraction and extra noise for their first time.
When I had a membership to an indoor range, I would get a roll of art paper from Ikea
https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/mala-drawing-paper-roll-70461088/
cut them down to size and would buy circle stickers to use as my point of target. https://www.amazon.com/Coding-Stickers-Coloring-Marking-Organizing/dp/B09LQ8CRM5/ref=sr_1_24?crid=MMKMLBSLCGKD&keywords=dot+sticker&qid=1669857113&sprefix=dot+sti%2Caps%2C967&sr=8-24
I could put up about 9 of them on one sheet.
Indoor will get boring real fast. You can only shoot behind the shooting table, slow fire, and probably no holster work if you ever wanted to, but I do see ranges "testing" to allow you the option to draw from the holster, after you take and pay for their training class.
It's gone up a little, $118 now.

My guns are never pointed in my path / have their line of sight pointed directly at me, especially if they are loaded. Mines are in an locked case (https://www.amazon.com/RPNB-Mounted-Biometric-Nightstand-Fingerprint/dp/B09YCY7SNX/ref=mp_s_a_1_45?crid=3JF6SITF0E9VL&keywords=pistol+case&qid=1667848038&s=hunting-fishing&sprefix=pistol+case%2Caps%2C203&sr=1-45) with the barrel pointed at the ground.
So yes, I practice safe gun handling.
>Courts have ruled that you must actually invoke your right.
It appears that SCOTUS also ruled that it can be held against you in court if you were not detained at the time.
The trick is to agree to answer all and every question and to cooperate fully, but only after your lawyer arrives. Once the lawyer arrives, it inevitably tells you to shut the fuck up. At which point you remain silent, but it's not your idea. If you could, you'd still cooperate fully. But oh well...
All according to James Duane
He also wrote a book where he went into the details, to the extent that those details somewhat contradict the original basic video. For example, taking the 5th might and will be used as incriminating evidence in court, and so on.
I'd strongly recommend reading the book before giving the advice to say "I have nothing illegal in the car"
I have this for quick draw practice. After 2k shot still work great.
If you just want a snap cap, these from a-zoom are pretty popular. They are lightweight and are very obviously not actual ammo.
If you want something weighted, I'd look at these from B's as they are weighted and are closer to the real weight. They are a little pricey though.
It really depends on what you're doing as well. I tend to tell folks to use weighted snap caps if you're doing manipulation drills like reloads because you can feel the difference between an empty mag and a loaded one.
Locked container for transport in a vehicle has a very wide definition. If you just want something cheap that meets the legal definition of a "locked container", go with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Tenamic-Pistol-Portable-Travel-Handgun/dp/B08FSV8TJS?qu=eyJxc2MiOiI2LjIxIiwicXNhIjoiNS45NCIsInFzcCI6IjUuNjUifQ%3D%3D

If you want something nicer, elaborate on your wishes & expectations please. :)
Ok! Here's what you do.
Under California law, your gun must be in a 'locked container' during transport. Your trunk is considered a 'locked container'. So you can put it there, or in a locked case.
You should bring your gun (in a case or bag), ammo, eye and ear protection. If you wear glasses, they count as eye protection. I recommend getting good ear protection, and consider doubling up with ear muffs over plugs - indoor ranges are loud. If the range is connected to a gun store, they will sell eye and ear protection.
The range will probably give or sell you a target, but if you're shooing more than ~50 rounds consider bringing or buying some high-viz sticky targets like these to extend the life of your target.
Tell the guy at the counter you want to shoot your pistol. Don't take it out of the case / bag until you're at the firing line. The counter guy may ask you to open the case and show it to him though.
For ammo, you can buy it or bring your own. If the range is connected to a gun store, they will sell ammo; otherwise, they may not. Anyway, you're welcome to buy all the range ammo you want, but it might be overpriced. Some ranges have rules about what ammo you can use (e.g., no steel cased ammo) but brass cased FMJ 9mm should be fine anywhere. If you decide to rent a gun you will probably be required to shoot their ammo though.
Some ranges do not allow rapid fire, so take your time if this is the case. Apart from that, obey the usual rules - keep your gun pointed downrange at all times, and keep your finger out of the trigger guard until you're ready to shoot. Also, congrats on the new Shield!
I use these and throw a small combo lock on em it’s not so much for security really it keeps my pistols from getting scratched up and for compliance US PeaceKeeper P21013 Pistol Case... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R3MXRGM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Same boat with brownells and armsmagwarehouse.
https://lifehacker.com/this-is-why-your-credit-card-transactions-take-so-long-1786567382
If the Middle Man who handles the transactions between banks and the companies selling your product are getting swamped, their transaction computing can crash. And thats not even related to the link on why sometimes it takes a while for money to clear in the firstp lace.
And I doubt they'd ship on the honor system. They want to be sure your money's in their hands first, which is fair.
Ah okay, well I went with a compound one they had from a brand called Martin.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Martin-Eliminator-Coumpound-Bow-W-mossy-Oak/180426709
I'm probably going to shoot this one until it inevitably breaks in a month.
Any specific models of Hoyt or Matthews bows?
Also someone also mentioned to me that I should just use a whisker biscuit rest until I figure out what I'm doing and know what to look for in a drop away rest
And buy China arrows or cheap aluminum arrows before I get broadheads and well made shafts since I will be breaking arrows often as a new archer.
That solid advice?
> requiring that all firearms sold in California be accompanied by a DOJ-approved firearms safety device
The "approved" device is the shitty metal cable lock for 20 bucks.
> or proof that the purchaser owns a gun safe that meets regulatory standards established by the Department
By way of "proof", at the gun store you sign an affidavit that says you have a gunsafe. Here's where you can search for officially approved safes: https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/certified-safety-devices/search
Do note that things like this are on the approved list: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EYTD4W/ When I bought it, it was less than 100 bucks and I'd bet you I could open the thing with my bare hands and a few well placed kicks. The bar is not very high.
there are basically two choices that like 90+% of people wear. The Walker's and the Howard Leight's
They are the most popular on amazon for a reason. They are both about the same and you will see almost everyone who is not a beginner shooter wearing one or the other.
I'm going to get crucified for this but I carry appendix with the following holster:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZMMXJZ2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The holster is very good but it's not the most comfortable for all day carry. I usually have to remove it at my office and store it and the gun in my desk while working.
This works: GPS Backpack
I picked up a stealth hanger, seems pretty solid and the company has revised the design to address flaws called out by reviewers
The answer is yes the SCOTUS could do that, but imho it's unlikely they would. They have only used contempt of court once in history. it's a pretty interesting read:

Tableau Server, which is what they used to publish the dashboards, has a button labeled, "View Data."
They most likely forgot or didn't know to disable it. https://www.tableau.com/drive/viewing-underlying-data
A general rule of thumb with Tableau, is when publishing a dashboard for public consumption, one should only use aggregated data sets. https://kb.tableau.com/articles/howto/hiding-underlying-data
I wonder if Bonta would pay me?
Glock 17.3 is my first and only gun. got a TLR-2 1000 lumen + green laser for the tac light. also got this kydex IWB holster: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B3WCDX1G
in process of CCW here in sacramento. i should have gotten something smaller. but oh well...it works.
Eehhhh no. https://www.amazon.com/LEE-PRECISION-Classic-Turret-Press/dp/B07QMY9G5B I've loaded 7-8k on this simple setup, although I've since upgraded. You really shouldn't learn on a dillon 650 anyways. The cheapest garbage I could find was 170 for 1000k, so 350 for 2k? And those weren't in stock and probably old prices anyways. Oh the the most expensive part of reloading usually? Brass... that gets reused.
Sight replacement is 100% "teach a man to fish" territory. Buy this:
It's not fancy but it works.
