I wouldnt know of any since u literally need to make steam think you are from somewhere else. how else if not vpn?
Did u try this one?
1Get the free VPN known as TunnelBear from 2Close out your browser(s) and exit Steam 3Connect to Singapore through the VPN 4Use the SteamDB link and click on “Free” in the top right hand corner. () 5The Steam client should launch and ask if you want to install DOAX Venus Vacation, click “Yes” 6Download the client and you can exit the VPN once the game is added to your library
It's in Asia and Russia only, I think. You can easily get it by using a VPN like Tunnelbear, NordVPN, etc. When I installed it I only needed a VPN to put it on my Steam library, and no longer needed the VPN afterwards.
You don't need to create a separate account for Steam; you just need to convince it you're in Asia with a program like TunnelBear for the initial download.
I think I had to convince it I was in Hong Kong, so try that if Singapore doesn't work for people.
No other way unless your IP is by default using a JP IP (in other words, you need to be in Japan). And since the DMM game client regularly updates by DMM, even if someone happens to actually create a 'cracked' version of it to fool the IP, chances are it won't work in the future after updates.
Thing is that only DMM imposes the IP region lock, but not KT on DOAXVV. Like what everyone has been doing, startup VPN for about 10sec or less to launch the game, then disconnect it right after. It should only take 1MB or less per launch, and there's quite a good amount of free VPN options that should cater to that much of the requirement (been using TunnelBear ever since DMM 5.x client update, no problem till now. Of course, other free VPN works too)
Right now I am using NordVPN. They seem to have quite a lot of Servers in Japan. But curiously when it connects to Servers with #600 or higher that launcher will tell me that its not allowed in my country. Below that number it is actually fine. I dont know what the difference is between these servers that they are still blocking me even with VPN enabled.
Ran it as usual and worked for me but here's what I just did.
1) Open DMM client ("Right-click as Administrator" might resolve some permission issues)
2) Once your DMM game library pops out, connect to JP VPN. (Used TunnelBear but feel free to use any other that has JP server)
3) Launch the downloaded version of the game, it'll pop a window prompting you to update VV launcher (approx 4MB). Click Yes/Ok.
4) Once the launcher update is done, VV launcher should pop out. You can disconnect your VPN now.
5) Start VV. Update should be around 400MB+ from what the new progress bar told me.
They got a new update for VV launcher. At least we can see total download size/progress for updates now compared to before.
Also updated using TunnelBear, turned off VPN after the launcher pops out. Works fine for me so agree not a VPN issue.
Very fast guide:
Get new DMM and update it
Start DMM. DoAXVV will appear with two button when you put your mouse on the tile
3.Get a VPN (TunnelBear or ExpressVPN) you have with TB 500 Gb per month which is more than enough.
Start the VPN and connect to Japan. Try to shut other stuff (Steam, Browser, etc.)
Click on the second button to start DoAXVV . DoAXVV Launcher will start, start the game as usual do not stop the VPN yet, wait until the game actually start. You won't lose much Mb. You can shut it off, but sometimes DoAXVV won't start.
BE CAREFUL the first time you'll start DoAXVV you will get an update (~7 Gb), so shut the VPN off as soon as you see the update.
Sometimes it takes a pretty long time to download (I remember mine took 20min+ once, their updater is sometimes buggy as well), so just leave it for a while and if nothing is wrong you should be able to get into the game. Your DOAXVV launcher actually getting into 3/3 file means that 1 and 2nd file are actually managed to download.
If the download fails, just Esc and retry again from the top and see if it resumes downloading the update. In case if you need to stay connected to VPN all the time to finish downloading the update, then maybe you can try ProtonVPN as I mentioned up there for a free alternative as there's no limit.
Else, there's probably no other way other than to look for a paid VPN. I mean, not just for DOAXVV but for other internet activities, if you want to make it a win-win situation.
You can try ProtonVPN if that's the case, since they have JP server and have no data limits.
Tho personally I never encountered of needing to stay connected on VPN to fresh download/install or even update the game. But still the options are there if it doesn't work like that for you.
I have also been using ProtonVPN. Convenient since I had already been using an email address from them for an extra email address, just for something different from the more common freebies.
All good so far.
Seems like DMM is really pushing this new client update, huh? I know this day will eventually come since the beta release but never expected it to be pretty early. Not to say the new client is any better (even JP-based users of the new client beta are angry due to its bug, lousy launcher compared to the current old client).
Anyway, as the post OP shared, I used a free TunnelBear VPN that provides every user with free 500MB per month. The region-lock only applies for 'running' the game, so once you managed to get the game run from the launcher, you can go ahead and disconnect the VPN. The game should run or download any update without any problem since it's only the client that's doing the region-lock, not the game itself by KT. This should only use about 1-2MB per session, assuming you're not downloading/streaming anything in background during this action.
I assume it'll probably be the same after the official release (since originally, even the current old client you'll need VPN to even access the game page and add the game into our account, but bypassed after we do so when running the game). Really adds up a layer of hassle-ness.
So today I couldn't use the old DMM client for reasons I couldn't figure out. I read this threat, shrugged, downloaded the new DMM client and got a free VPN provider called ProtonVPN. I just turn it on when I need to start the game and turn it back off once past the first DOA splash page.

While I can see some people being annoyed by this I hardly find it to be a deal breaker.
Nah it's not rude at all and this surely isn't a problem yet for those using the old DMM client. But like you mention they're pushing the new DMM for new downloads and eventually the old one will get updated to the new one in the future. Hope the above method works even if they got the official release.
Yeah, TunnelBear allows free user 500MB free for a month, but all you're doing is just running the game which would only take at most 1MB something then you can just disconnect it. So you should be fine for a month unless you frequently logs in/out.
Ah, thanks for replying to this, I got it fixed but I must've forgotten to update this.
Basically the VPN I was using wasn't working properly. I used WindScribe but apparently WindScribe sucks volleyballs.
After using the free trial for Cyberghost it worked. Both regions should work. ^^
I'll give anyone a brief on how to add it to your main account:
- Download TunnelBear VPN
-Pick Japan connection in the VPN
-Go to steam page in any browser
-Search Dead or alive venus vacation
-Download and Enjoy!
Hi, Steam has English, while DMM is in Japanese. It is region locked for me too, but I was able to get it through steam. I did it a few months ago, so it works. You must follow specific instructions. This is what I did:
Once you have it in your Steam account, you don't need to turn on VPN anymore. You can download future updates through Steam as well.
btw if you are starting, you can use my referral code:
734237413
It is located on the Home screen:
We will both get 10,000 V Stones.
NordVPN here, the wife and I tried Japan and it wouldn't work. But once I switched to Sigapore it let me download the game. Only other suggestion that worked as well was making a new Steam profile and making it a Japanese account.
I finally got it to work through ProtonVPN and making a new account while the VPN was running. I tried disabling Steam guard on my main, but it still reigon locked me. Probably has to do something with my billing region, so I'll just change that when it lets me and try again
It finally worked, I had to DISABLED STEAM GUARD from phone and also Steam on browser to avoid asking me for the code every time. I had to insist about 5 times with the VPN on (in Singapore with TunnelBear by the way), from the web clicking install several times eventually it worked. Thanks.
If you want to play on Steam, here's the guide I used: LINK.
Yea, I used a paid Japanese VPN (ExpressVPN $15/mo) which dropped my ping from 160ms down to 130ms to the DMM servers and I was still getting 10005 errors. Must be server side. It's a client/server communication error.
