Using a VPN is a good ideal, but since the link leads to a third party website I consider this an ad.
There are plenty of VPN / proxies providers, Reddit has plenty of discussions regarding the subject, recommendations, experiences.
I use Private Internet Access. It's a paid for service that offers both VPN and proxy.
I use TorGuard VPN (the name has nothing to do with the Tor network, just stupid marketing). High speeds, many servers worldwide, very reliable, excellent customer service, reasonable pricing.
That said, I wouldn't feel unsafe with Nord or PIA, either. However, the ne plus ultra of VPNs, I hear, is Cryptostorm. All of these VPNs have a good reputation for protecting customer identity, don't keep logs, and have a history of telling the Feds to step off.
On the other hand, companies like HideMyAss have been known to do exactly the opposite; i.e., roll over when the Feds show up with a warrant, or even just a "request." You might as well run open, and HideMyAss should be renamed ExposeMyAss!
I seriously recommend getting [NordVPN]( ). NordVPN has long been one of the most popular and reliable VPN providers out there.
They have an amazing promotion going on right now: you can get a special two year plan for $79 (that’s $3.29 a month). That is less than a trip to Starbucks.
I've been using Private Internet Access (PIA) for 2 1/2 years, and it's been excellent. $40 USD per year. This allows you to use up to six devices on one sub, and they have apps, etc for Windows, Android and Apple devices.
I've also been subscribing to Xirvik for a seedbox, for around four years. Initially I had a semi-dedicated seedbox. Then they upgraded me, for free, to a dedicated seedbox. I am paying around $26 USD a month for my seedbox. Great support, and so awesome not to torrent off my own connection. Just use the seedbox and FTP down, when it's done. Plus, you can also surf by proxy using your seedbox's IP address.
Can vouch for NordVPN, been using it two years and haven't had any issues so far. They've got a good selection of servers with P2P, Double VPN, Dedicated IP, and some other specialties.
I would wait till they have a sale or some deal, otherwise it's a bit pricy.
By safe do you mean from viruses and malware or from being caught?
For the former just make sure your OS is up to date with security patches, has a good antivirus, and you only download safe torrents. Those on Demonoid are usually fine in my experience but check comments and look for reliable uploaders.
The latter is a more involved discussion. I would strongly recommend a good anonymous VPN though. I use Private Internet Access but there are several good ones that are fairly cheap. There are free ones too but you get what you pay for in my opinion. Of course I don't download any copyrighted material anyway.
Thanks for all the feedback guys. It really looked like a demonoid announcement, it was in plain text and not in a banner or anything! You all seem happy with Private Internet Access, thanks for the tip.
I think this maybe a useful source for you.

kindly invite me. i cant login in new demonoid.is, i have been a member of demonoid.pw since 2010.. but lately it was closed permanently when i visited and i read that the founder has gone...sorry to hear that... hoping demonoid will rise again
demonoid.is is the official new site. However, I don't think registrations is open. I and I can't seem to generate any invites. However, you don't need an invite to use it. Demonoid is an open tracker.
Not sure when the next one will be. 22 days ago I messaged a mod on here asking how I could get back on the new site since I was a member on the old one, and he told me unless I could get an invite from someone I’d just have to wait until open registration.
He advised me to check either on here or on the site every day go see if registration was open. I ended up joining on open registration 16 days ago. So I was only waiting 6 days before there was open registration. I’m not sure when the last open registration was before that.
Just keep checking here every day to see if registration is open. I’ll bookmark your username and whenever demonoid finally gives me an invite code to share I’ll reach out to you and see if you are still waiting to register. I’d love to help you out now but since my account is new I don’t have any invites to share yet.
Sometimes, when I am searching an entire category (usually Books or Audio Books) I get only a row of numbers (e.g. "[1-50] [51-100] etc. No entries are listed below this, but the row of numbers is duplicated several lines down. Sometimes just refreshing the page solves the problem, sometimes not. Sometimes restarting Waterfox (a Firefox clone that still uses all of the older Firefox add-ons no longer supported since Firefox 57) solves the problem. On one occasion this morning, I got the date-ordered list of audiobooks, but every one I clicked on returned a message that the torrent had been removed by request. I reloaded the page, and all of the links worked correctly. I have tried it with several IP addresses through , several through NordVPN, and even using my original IP address (though I wouldn't d/l a torrent with it, I still tried searching with it). Given that this is happening regularly on Firefox, Chrome, and Waterfox, it looks like a Demonoid problem. Another minor glitch is that sometimes, when I first choose Audiobooks, the Language box says none available. If I run a search, the Language dropdown becomes active again. A minor annoyance, but possible another sign that Demonoid ought to raise their programming and QA standards.
