Man...that is a good question too. They where because of the Obsidian reset and the provided armour. They the Obsidian reset of BK swords is better but they provide no armour. Yet you might get a better breakpoint with BK swords. https://codepen.io/anon/pen/zdxxMO
I actually saw the build from this thread, realized I had everything for it and tried. My god this is so much better than every T13 speedfarm option the barbs have and it's not even a contest.
Charge requires management of fury/boulder toss for berserker uptime. Plus you can miss your charges quite frequently, which leaves you out like a sitting duck.
Whirlwind is inconsistent and difficult to gear for at best. However this build requires absolutely no skill/fury/cooldown management, fast killing elites and charge away to the next elite. This is basically a vyr/rasha archon who doesnt require paralysis proc. I played with monks, DH's, wizards and necroes who claim to be really fast in t13, and this easily keeps up with them if not beat them by milliseconds.
For reference, here is my profile. Higher paragon (currently 760~), higher gem levels, a pig sticker, attack speed on gloves and rings can be added so still has room for improvement.
I highly recommend this setup to everyone else. You'll be amazed.
And thank you so much for sharing this build.
There are a few variations in the top of the boards I can see:
Threatening Shout - Demoralize - A significant source of incoming damage reduction, as well as the utility of better grouping
Ancient Parthan Defenders with Freeze/Stun on relevant equipment (glove, belt, weapons) - A potentially significant source of DR in density
Wrenching Smash with Strongarms - I suspect this build has to fish a lot more for good rifts as it sacrifices the DR bonuses of the other two for increased damage
Looking at your profile, I see you have opted for Wind Shear instead of Blood funnel, meaning you have significantly less recovery than some variants as well.
Additionally you have opted for Rage Flip instead of Ground Stomp, and Impunity instead of Charge! on War Cry, meaning not only do you have significantly reduced Fury generation outside of density and reduced crowd control, you also have an additional fury expenditure to proc your Strongarms. I would not be surprised if you occasionally have to stop WW between packs and eat the odd fatal projectile as a result. It's also greatly reducing your damage potential if you aren't maintaining the Fury required for Berserker Rage.
I also see you've taken Sword to Plowshares instead of Bloodshed on Battle Rage, which offsets the loss of Blood Funnel on WW (probably more than, given your HP value, or any reasonable HP value, really), but I'm fairly certain the damage difference between Bloodshed and the damage added by Strongarms is firmly in favor of Bloodshed.
I think you've chosen a variant with less toughness and less damage, it's only advantage being higher recovery.
And your profile just changed, so now I look like a crazy person.
Yes you can do that. There is a really good tank build for barbs. You can easily do GR80+ in two-man with that combo. Gearing will be sort of like this: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/zork-2480/hero/88853307
For key farming you spam GR11. The WD will use chicken and you as the barb will pick up speed WW with Waste6/BK2 or any Raekor build.
Once you have keys switch to your high GR builds and farm GR70+ until you can do GR80+. This will get you tons of paragon and loot. When out of keys switch back to your keyfarmers.
The barbarian subreddit has a pretty legit wiki. You should check it out. It has the breakpoint data.
The breakpoint wiki link is in the sidebar too. In the wiki page there is a link to a calculator.
Man wtf guys. Why has no one mentioned that the breakpoint calculator was still using the 1.3 more multiplier for BK weapons? Here is the new breakpoint calculator to compare BK and Istvans.
With 3% from enchantress or by using Pain Enhancer you are at 14fpa. https://codepen.io/anon/pen/WXjoVg
Both ias and %dmg on one handers have the malus of only being applied to that weapon. This makes them half as effective on alternating attack skills when compared to stats that are global.
On top of that the damage gain for faster attacks does not always compensate the loss of 10% damage which can be rolled on weapons. If you are hitting faster you would have to hit 1.1 times faster to make it go even. This is only the case from 10fpa onwards.
According to https://codepen.io/anon/pen/WXjoVg he's at the 14 FPA breakpoint - not 12, and he has 6% leeway using 7% on his gloves + 6% istvans' blades (and could drop the IAS on gloves roll if he used an enchantress or a pain enhancer). Or am I misunderstanding something entirely?
hi guys, my set-up is like this https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/LunarCyrix-2916/hero/67664464
ive been able to pass GR80. but having difficulties progressing further.
i have one BK weapon with STR/CDR/AD to swap for one of my current if AD is what i'm missing.
any tips on what i should improve gearwise (or skillwise) are appreciated =D
edit: also, im having trouble gathering large mob groups with TS-demoralize, any tips on that?
The Idea is simple and not invented by me: You take IK 6 piece, Bul Kathos blades, Bastion of Will Set and go for high IAS and combine it with the Slaughter rune of WotB. In the end it is all about generating proccs for Mirinae. As far as I understood, you have WW proccing Mirinae, Dust Devils proccing Mirinae, and any crits (WW or Dust Devils) proccing Slaughter which itself is proccing Mirinae again. With WW @ 0.2 and Slaughter @ 0.25 (if I am not wrong) it should in the end be a nice chain-reaction of destruction.
To maximize everything I aim for a high breakpoint, and if I got in right, with 35% on items an 7% on both blades I should hit the 3.33 APS BP. To determine, if the sacrifices included (mainly toghness, which is my biggest issue) are worth the effort I have to calculate the damage plus. So I have to have an idea, how many Dust Devils hit how often.
Edit 1: to see what char I am refering to, here it is --> https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Luceferous-2582/hero/30822938
Edit 2: grammer an clarification
Actually you cannot do higher torments until you get your sets (EQ,IK,RAEK) going. So just keep farming.
For now. Craft Reaper's Wraps. After that you can switch to sth like this: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#ShUkPj!SXZj!bcbZZa
For T3 it is enough to put red gems in armour and a diamond in the helmet. Get as much CDR as you can.
Use a major cooldown (Insanity or CotA) on each elite pack. With ~30% CDR you could come close to a point where one of both is ready per pack.
If you manage to get the IK set you will fly through T4 with this setup.
For higher torments like T5+ you need full sets with good rolls.
Leapquake is still viable for season. So is IK and RAEK.
I used this build until I was leapquaking. It worked well for me in the lower torment levels. It could probably do with some optimisation though as I was just going with what felt good at the time.
Aughild set is amazing, you could craft that. The usual spots are Shoulders, Bracers, Helm, but you could also replace the Chest by that.
I usually like to put 2 Flawless Imperial Diamond in my pants. You could also upgrade your Rubies to Royal in the chest.
I would change the amulet. The bonus is nice, but it lacks some stat, especially the crit damage, which can goes up to 100%. You should try to have at least 2 offensive stats on the amu, usually crit chance and crit damage (str without saying). If you can get %ele damage, that's great.
Try using War Cry/Impunity. I wouldn't use both WW and HotA.
I would also recommend Battle Rage/Bloodshed, works great with the hammer.
And if you still have some trouble surviving, I would try to fit the passive Superstition somewhere.
My profile, for the sack of sharing it, but I use a totally different build. Can farm T4 solo, and T5 in group (more like a support barb).
i have a question regarding what to roll on the following Little Rogue: https://i.imgur.com/NIWxoN8.png
im playing HOTA and i currently have a Slanderer with 7% Attack speed. Using the enchantres as a follower, i can reach 14 fpa with no additional attack speed on my gear ( according to https://codepen.io/anon/pen/WXjoVg).
however, 5% is not enough for 14 fpa.. so my question now is:
im really unsure on this one :D i could even reroll the attack speed on my slanderer to 10% dmg, 10% dmg on rogue and stay at 15 fpa on both swords.. i dont know how that compares to be honest.
thanks in advance
Higher attack speed does not automatically mean "real" higher attack speed since attacks are capped by the 60 fps the game can actually display. You look for the minimal amount of attack speed to reach a viable breakpoint. You do not need the table. Use the calculator: https://codepen.io/anon/pen/WXjoVg
Istvan without PE that have inate 7% weapon ias (on BOTH weapons) get the 14fpa breakpoint by just taking the enchantress as a follower.
Hota is easier to play then Charge
but FC oriented build performs better.
both versions can make 100 solo no probs, i got GR100 with this in 13 minutes first try: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Yokz-2441/hero/76748779
hello, the thing i would like to ask - is there such thing as too much area damage? to be more specific, here's the setup i have used to clear GR97 yesterday: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Lopuch-2443/hero/60883967
1) wouldn't it be better to reroll my off-hand to 10% damage instead?
2) should i keep AD on the off-hand and get attack speed on gloves + jewelry to hit the next HOTA breakpoint?
thanks.
guys, can you help me decide which COE ring should I wear: https://i.imgur.com/svDJJmR.png
The ancient one I can roll to 50% CHD and augment it with 450 str. The non-ancient one i can roll the strength to 20% AD (I don't know if this is a good idea considering my low paragon) or leave it as it is and roll a secondary resist. Here is my profile to see my other stats if needed: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/UFC-2437/hero/101048770 . Thank you.
https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Tali-2482/hero/101701300
What should i be spending bloodshards on at this point? Kadala is being a **** with regards to gloves that i've been gambling since para 300ish and this is the better pair i've gotten while i have primals or gg ancients for leapquake/charge at this point.
I'm using bounty mats to reroll endless walk set but after doing about 2000 souls worth, i ran out before getting anything acceptable.
i've also been playing a fair amount of charge with equivalent gear besides the shoulders that are lackluster to utilise my jewelry rolls thusfar as i have a phys hellfire thats 1 CHC(&ancient) from perfect.
may i join in on this? found a primal bul katho with str, life per fury, and cdr. (see https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Vessler-2564/hero/101374426 ) up until now i didnt really want to push with this build, i use it mainly to speedfarm t13.
reroll cdr to areadmg/dmg%? or just keep it like that and wait for an ancient second piece and decide later on?
I'm more or less on 600k HP and don't run nerves of steel (https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Gybrush-2537/hero/64553971) You are missing a very important passive Boon of Bulkathos, without that it's impossible to have perma WOTB.
From my point of view Nemesis bracers are just for speed running so you either use strongarm bracers and Ground stomp combo for triggering them (DMG combination) or Ancient Parthan and you need freeze on hit on some item (toughness combination), i have it on pride of cassius to trigger the effect.
I recommend the latter at the beginning till you get used to playing WW at higher GR
https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Rekijan-2584/hero/47373850
I can barely manage a GR70, is that normal? My gear isn't the best but it still feels kind of a weak build. Damage is ok at this GR but survivability is kind of tight. Preventing me from going higher.
https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Rekijan-2584/hero/47373850 I heard that the WW build is going to get some nice buffs in the next patch, and as a somewhat casual player (our 4 month old baby taking up most my time) I kind of like that build. Also because I played it loads in D2. So I looked at the top barb clear and tried to copy it. With my necro I can do around GR90, so I figured I try with my barb at 70. I kept dying. I switched rage flip with the war cry and am currently trying to get the pride of cassius, but the bastard just won't drop and Kadala+Kanai are giving me all kinds of mighty belts except the one I want. Of course Im also hoping for the other 2 set swords but that is probably more for the further future. And of course along the way improve the set pieces with better rolled stuff. TL;DR But still, is this build supposed to be this squishy? And is there anything I can do to improve (right now)? I've tried looking up guides but most just tell you which skills to use and what gear to equip and nothing more.
I have an question regarding my ww barb that I have. I have choosen to wear unity instead of CoE. It gives me good survivability but the question is if im sacrificing to much dmg by using it? This is my profile https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Pazienza-2707/hero/98120479. I have cleared an gr 81 with him. Any other general tips on my gear is welcome
https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Samakas-2795/hero/98509894
I've gotten up to grift level 83 and struggling to move forward. I feel like my equipment is fairly adequate. Not the best augments, bracers not ancient and looking to get +lightning damage on my hellfire amulet.
Perhaps I should get area damage on my gloves instead of vitality. I could also get area damage on my 2nd weapon but I need to cdr for now.
What else could I improve on?
Here is my barb https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Schwiing-2584/hero/99109848 With this build you provide Movement speed, Ignore pain and you pick up the globes the Znecro generates. Mostly you will stick with the group, i only scout ahead a little bit when there could be a pylon ahead, otherwise just stick with the group and pick up globes. Pick up radius is key in this build, im currently maxed out with 22. I wouldnt run this build if i was under 18 pick up radius and 66.36% CDR, you need it for 100% uptime on Ignore pain.
I came back to Diablo after 2 years. My last season was season 4 but I always read the patches and kept myself up to date about the game. I had my whirlwind barb which was good(?) at that time I believe but now I cant even kill normal mobs on t13 I cant even do damage to normal mobs at grift 55+. This is my barbs profile: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/RodeoPenguin-2873/hero/98792772 If some barb master wants to help me please add me from battle net or pm me here. Im about to go mad because my barb is my only character that I loved/love to play with.
Guys i am running barb in HC with Crusader , What should i aim for build-wise, i see that WOTW is the most popular build now. So what sould i change , or add to my build? Thanks! https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/BattleTag-2610/hero/98255543
Hi guys , i recently started a run with my bro in hardcore, i am a Barb and he is a Crusader. I dont even reached a 70lvl . So is there a good starting Spec for Barbs? What should i aim for and stuff like that. Here is my Char: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/BattleTag-2610/hero/98255543
Im having problems with GR60, 55 is really easy for me, no s tress no deaths no problems at all, but when it comes to 60 its a whole other story, i die super easy to the bosses(they 1 shot me with spells) even through ingore pain. Any tip you could give me in taking this on? Heres my profile btw https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Cowder-21242/hero/97201148

Any tip you could give me in taking this on? Heres my profile btw https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Cowder-21242/hero/97201148
I just started playing a week ago, I think I last played Diablo back around in 2012. I hit 70 with my barb few days ago, first thing was getting the Kanai's cube. Then I started GRifts from 1 one at a time. I got The Furnace at Grift 3 or 4 I think. I know its good so I cubed it up as soon as I could. Now I clear GRift 16-17 around 10min. I really like clearing rifts because I can manage my (limited) playtime with the short rift sessions.
https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Artezic-2312/hero/95051431
My question is:
-Is there anything that I can't get if I only do GRifts? (I already know bounty rewards required to Kanai's cube recipes)
-What is the ideal time for Grift, if I want to farm gear?
-I really like WW barb, is there any up to date build/guide I should check? (I read the icy veins guide)
-What should I spend my bloodshards on?
Headbutt Barb, need to know what I should be looking to upgrade as prio, managed to get a 70 solo with a few mins to spare but a little sketchy, cheers.

I think i kinda get it now. I shifted around a bit, and my dmg is now dramtically higher. Hopefully i find one more raekor piece or the ring for -1 set item req. Thanks again If you got time you can take a look again now ;)

Hi!
I'm trying to use a Furious charge build, pretty much going by Icy Veins. At this point, I'm having trouble clearing GR 60. Here is my char: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Faeltir-2381/hero/91408581 Is being stuck around GR 60 reasonable for my gear, or is it simply that I'm playing wrong?
I bet a 70 grift with this build and have no Idea what do to from now on, except farming ancients. I can't really push higher then 70 without losing to the timer. So tell me, what do I have to improve?
https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Rennschnitzl-2214/hero/3040946
I cleared 69 today with ~2 Minutes left, but I get destroyed in 70. Do I suck or is there so much more room for optimization in my gear?
Imo not possible without gifted weapons.
You will have a hard time without >40% CDR, > 100% area damage and really high %CC/%CHD. To do it with WW you need really good rolls on all items.
I did it without problems some days ago. If your weapon damage is bad go for even more area damage. I have over 130%. https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/zork-2480/hero/91212702
Ancient weapon does not matter that much. Rolls do. It takes some time to learn how to cluster mobs and mow them down with area damage.
Need some help with my charge barb, really liking it so far but I feel like I'm hitting a wall(just cleared torment 13).
Build: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Lastpak-2662/hero/83389287
Pretty much followed some videos, but at this point, I need some pointers to know what I should be going for. Do I simply need to grind for ancients, or am I missing something in my build?
Main issues:
Done 60 solo, haven't tried 61 yet. https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/migu-2155/hero/37983321
CoE -> Unity in cube when soloing, of course. Pretty identical to every other Hota spammer out there.
so i watched ur full video you never really run out of rage (fury?). and when i play im ALWAYS out of rage to the point of I cant even WW. I watched u fight man carver and you never leave 100%? even with reapers on i still run out, is there something your doing besides just holding down WW?
edit: wow i cant believe i watched a 21min video, your commentary is good haha. thanks for all the info
(ignore this its just for my refrence) https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Taktic-2982/hero/41915462
support barb, T4 solo, T5+ group. I don't think the proc scale with lightning on the live server, but it will change with path 2.1.
The proc has a 1sec internal cooldown, but with the low proc rate of WW, you still need some decent attack speed if you want to proc it every second.
my profile. I'm generating enough fury with CotA, War Cry and Threatening Shout... and Hexing Pants.
You can also add to your list:
You gears seem fine. Reroll the socket in the pants to 2 sockets and put 2 diamonds. Or try to grab a Blackthorn belt and pants, since you may want to specialize into fire damage/skills. Or Harrington.
Maybe you could get a 4th stat on the amulet (attack speed or fire damage). Also, checkout the Aughild set, it's pretty nice. More damage and reduced damage. Shoulder, Bracers, Helm. Or you could try to farm a RoRG (Act 1 bounty), you then only need shoulder and bracers.
I'm sure it's viable. Saw a guy on youtube just using Frenzy with the Maniac rune. All fire damage using sword and shield. He was clearing T5 if I recall. Can't find the video though. I use HotA myself. Using the 2H IK weapon though because I want perma pets for a laugh.
Here's a link to my armory: https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Funkmaster-2590/hero/32716866
Ignore the lightning gear. I'm just messing about with a different build atm. I have a cindercoat, harringtons and magefist. Also the EQ helm. So just imagine I have those equipped with your weapons and I'd say I'd be using the same build just with Fire runes in HotA and EQ and probably Ignore pain instead of CotA.
Oh yeh, my neck needs to be rolled to fire damage but I've run out of topaz after 30000 rerolls :P
In all honesty I think having a spender DOES help especially if you have either the Bloodthirst (is that it?) passive for life on fury spent. HotA for damage or Seismic Slam for CC with the knockback. If you have high LoH however, Frenzy with the Maniac rune will help.
Sorry if none of this makes sense. It's late here :D
I kinda run a support barb, my profile. The CDR on the TF is just a test (should roll it on my shoulder if I really need it). The CDR is here for the shouts, Threatening Shout charms enemies and War Cry gives 40% movement speed to everyone.
I had some %phys gears so I stick with is, and I think it's pretty decent DPS wise. The sprint tornadoes deal a good amount of damage with %phys, and the tornadoes from WW help to proc TF.
In the end, I whirlwind non-stop, shout to give health globes and charm enemies while reducing incoming damage, and 40% MS, with TF proccing every sec (internal cooldown) to slow enemies' attack speed.
I guess the build could evolve to cold damage with WW/Hurricane and Strongarms, but I like the synergy with the physical skills I use, so...
I can solo T4 at a decent pace and T5 in group, my friends usually prefer I take the barb because it gives them more survivability.
My profile. Disregard the bracers, it's not needed if you snapshot the ancients with attack speed. I used to use Strongarm with Ground Stomp, but since the ground effect are bugged and hurt a lot, I used more defensive skills. My build feels like pre-RoS WW barb, and the WW tornadoes have a better proc rate than other runes, to proc Thunderfury. I still need do find a decent Andariel.
I'm usually full fury so I tried to use Seismic slam, but it's still quite expensive. The EQ barbs use it to reduce the cooldown on Avalanche.
wait for eq set drops ^^
Records in HD for free. but requires a few minutes of setup (5-10)
you can use whatever tho, Bandicam or fraps
I just want to see if i am doing something fatally wrong that can be avoided.
Group play is a whole new beast as other classes offer cc/mitigation through buffs and debuffs.
