If you have a smartphone, have a look at this app which sometimes gives you early warnings, and in any case lets you talk to other people who were involved, and can automatically send emails and SMS with your location to predefined contacts in case you're in trouble.
Maybe also follow my https://twitter.com/BrainstormBot since it's back working now, and could also give you some warnings (less likely).
Hi, I'm a talking bot. Since you Californian people seem... very prone to reporting what you felt (which is fine, helps me provide timely Twitter-based warnings!), I'd like to remind you that if you follow me at https://twitter.com/BrainstormBot and you have your location stated in your Twitter profile's location box in a sane way (like "San Francisco, California"), I will DM you as soon as I become aware of an event that seems like it might affect you.
If you aren't on Twitter or you don't like having your location in your public profile there, you can also receive these warnings over XMPP (I recommend Conversations as an Android client for that, but any should work), but that needs to be requested manually by sending me a private message here.
Just from their links, it looks like they they integrate this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.gempa.android.eqinfo
with what they're doing here: https://raspberryshake.org
It looks interesting, but I honestly don't know how it works and haven't been able to get the graph to show.
It sounds like you have an anxious thought that is spiraling out of control. It’s called catastrophic thinking. I used to have those a lot.
I highly recommend reading Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Dummies. It’s easy to read and understand, and it helped me to stop worrying all the time about things I didn’t need to worry about.

There were lots of people doing this back in the days when meteorology was founded. Unfortunately Admiral FitzRoy had a religious downer on astrology and the French had just come up with a new way of writing nautical almanacs.
It turns out that meteorologists never thought of comparing previous weather records for the purpose of making weather forecasts until well after WW2. No doubt because weather forecasts were pretty dire until after WW2.
100 years before that era several people were successfully researching the cause of all geo-phenomena:

Quite disappointed this is ending up in the proprietary Google Mobile Services, not in the open source Android proper (AOSP), but realistically I couldn't expect otherwise, especially with an infrastructure based on centralized servers and Google cloud notifications.
It does mean that my choice of not using those proprietary Google services with their very invasive tracking of all sorts of things means I won't get earthquake warnings. Oh well, I'll just keep getting them from my bot u/BrainstormBot, delayed by anywhere from one minute to ten.
Earthquake M9.5 - Departamento de General Juan F. Normally you'd have aftershocks by now. So ot may be an error. I hope it is.
There are quite a few options, but from my experiences with them, the Raspberry shakes are the best simply because they are much less expensive compared to other types of seismometers. You can see a few models for sale here.
I also have another one called an Infiltec seismometer which is much better at detecting large quakes from other parts of the world which you can check out here.
Be careful guys. It feels silly to get under a table but it has actually saved lives. I suggest getting this app if you have Android — I'm not affiliated with it and, if anything, my bot that posts here and on Twitter is competing with that app, but honestly it just works better if it has enough coverage, and seeing some of the felt reports in Puerto Rico, I think it does have enough coverage.
It gives you at last a chance, though obviously no guarantee, of receiving a warning before the shaking starts. My bot, on the other hand, can do that maybe only 5% of the time (look at the times above: earthquake started at 12:54:45, my bot warned at 12:55:58, that's quick but still more than a minute, and there's no chance it comes before the shaking even if you're way off the epicenter). 10 seconds can be enough to shut off the gas, open doorways so they don't get stuck, and then hide under a table. Look for videos of the Japanese early warning systems made by NHK on YouTube to see what you can do in about 10 seconds.
I got this 3 years ago when it was top seller. https://www.amazon.com/GermGuardian-AC4825-Sanitizer-Allergens-Guardian/dp/B004VGIGVY But it seem the newer ones aren't good anymore.
So I'm looking for a Coway AP-1512HH Mighty or Coway Airmega 200M. Top 2 at https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-air-purifier/
Coway Airmega 200M have been on sale for $109-119 Coway AP-1512HH Mighty has been on sale for $116.
So I put an alert for those any probably buy two if they are on sale again.
Yeah, I been opening at night to cool off when its yellow or better.
I have and been using an air purfier.
I wish this https://www.amazon.com/IQAir-AirVisual-Temperature-Real-Time-Forecasting/dp/B0784TZFRW?ref_=ast_sto_dp was closer to $50. It would be nice to set that up with my "dumb" air purifier with IFTTT.
