The field of occultism arised from/around religion and is an extension of its goals and interests. The various forces that went into creating modern occultism are very diverse and it's hard to separate it entirely from science and religion. If you're interested in it from a more academic angle, shooting an email to someone like Dr Klaassen for resources might be worthwhile. :) IME many academics are pretty open to random questions.
Got it. In case you haven't already come across it, there's a book called Holy Daimon by a "Frater Acher" that may be of interest to you. And here is a video review of it that you can comfortably listen to at 1.5x speed.
I have it but I haven't done the ritual yet. My daimon hasn't revealed herself to me yet, but she has repeatedly shown up through mysterious women that suddenly pop into and out of my reality field during astrologically-charged periods of time. Maybe your post is the signal I needed to get serious about this relationship, especially with the lunar eclipse mere days away.

Hi! I came across your question just by chance, but I'm beginning to think maybe it was not by chance? You see, I recognize some of these symbols...I'm pretty SURE I do. A few years ago, a friend of my husband stayed with us for a little while and he was an active member of the O.T.O. chapter in New Orleans. Unfortunately, his friendship with my husband fell apart for some reason and he left pretty quickly, leaving a bunch of his things behind--including a precious book of his titled, "The Goetia: The Lesser Key of Solomon the King: Clavicula Salomonis Regis, Translated by Samuel Liddell Macgregor Mathers, Edited with an Introduction by Aleister Crowley, Illustrated Second Edition". There seem to be several variations of this book floating around, but THIS version in particular...well, it's come in VERY handy with my own research. Much to my surprise, I found it quite easily on Amazon, but there don't appear to be many copies around any more. I'll betcha it may be a BIG help for you, I hope, if you can find it.
