Get an older copy. I paid $4 for the one I went through before taking the FE. Personally I found the problems in the reviews harder than what was actually on the exam. So if you can do those you're probably in good shape at that point. Hell, order in a couple different ones. At $4 to $6 each who cares?
The other things you mentioned, I never paid for. Didn't buy their practice test because the review books usually have several.
You can download the pdf formula book you'll be given on the FE for free. So definitely do that and look at every page! You may not know the subjects on every page, but you want to know what formulas are there so you can find them again and know what keywords to look for during the test.
I don't know what percentage this applies to, but I can guarantee you there's a marked score improvement for people who just know what keywords to look for so they can find formulas in the pdf faster. I had never had any environmental courses at all, but I know I got most of those questions right just because I could find it in the pdf on the test.
You're going to get several 'easier' questions in each discipline, if you don't have the formulas memorized, then the faster you can look them up the better.
I just ordered this for my test coming up. $32. Think with tax and shipping I ended paying a little over $40. Much better price than the $150+ for other "Guaranteed to pass" books. Now whether it's actually just as good, only the future will tell.
I feel the same way. :( I've been studying for the FE Environmental too and it's definitely overwhelming. If you want a more textbook style review book, I think the only one out there that is strictly for environmental is this one (it's outdated though): https://www.amazon.com/Environmental-Engineering-FE-Review-Manual/dp/1683380142. I started going through that book but I felt like studying with it wasn't very productive so now I'm just going through practice problems with the Anthem Environmental Engineering book and NCEES practice test. Also, videos on youtube have been very helpful too.
I think it's probably a good idea for you to go through the official practice exam to see which subjects you need to focus on most!
Do what I did. Get an older physical book used off Abebooks. I ordered in a 10 year old one for $4.
If people try to tell you it's too old, just remind them the laws of gravity haven't changed all that much in that time. haha
Seriously. It's still just as good, and you have a physical book to flip through. And the $4 included shipping! Can't beat that.
Having been in a same situation and passing the EE FE recently, I would recommend getting the EE-Orientated review manual from PPI. As a supplement there are some review problem books on Amazon. The one I bought was geared towards the new computer based exam Review Problems Book.
The material you need to know is on the NCEES. There you ca find the break down of materials you need to know. Good luck!

This is the version. I believe it is a previous version but the problems are still good, I practiced with it in conjunction with the official FE books and passed.
That's a good question, I am not sure if they did. So this is the one I purchased and compared it to the old one, https://www.amazon.com/FE-Civil-Review-Michael-Lindeburg/dp/1591265290/ref=sr_1_10?crid=P91LVPQN0NEG&keywords=fe+exam+lindeburg&qid=1670811743&sprefix=fe+exam+lindeburg%2Caps%2C107&sr=8-10&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.fa474cd8-6dfc-4bad-a280-890f5a4e2f90. Did they release a newest version?
The go to book is Lindeburg, linked below.
But I also highly recommend ordering an ncees practice test, was on the fence about it until a few a before and finally did. Don't think I would have passed without it.
PPI FE Other Disciplines Review Manual – A Comprehensive Review Guide to Pass the NCEES FE Exam https://www.amazon.com/dp/159126443X/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_HV4VDKMM53D1JBK77X96
also do not forget his 750 Questions
I got hard copy of all 3 they really good
I think the most important ones for me were the ncees practice exam and this one here:
You can use the free Kindle trial to access it free. The author also has a 2nd exam also available on Kindle.
The problems on the first half of the exam were slightly Harder than the ncees practice exam. The second half was pretty even with the practice exam. I found this test here to be pretty good in terms of difficulty. There are 2 books and they are available on Kindle (you can do a month free trial).

Managed to pass the first time with this book, PrepFe, and the NCEES practice exam

I really liked this one. The first half has 110 practice questions with solutions and the second half is a practice test.
+1 for u/COMediSun reply about the pdf handbook.
The only physical thing they give you for the exam is the laminated 8.5x14 graph paper, spiral bound pad with 2 wet erase markers. It may take some getting used to if you never used one. This is similar to what you get.
the reference manual is computer based too. For your scratch work you'll be given a laminted test book, and marker, similar to this.
Thanks! Yep, I used the ncees practice exam, the Anthem book, and one more I thought was very helpful was this one:
Go thru practice problems MANY times to the point that on the exam you will just look at a problem and know exactly where to go in the handbook right away to use the equations you need, good luck!
You can find it here on Amazon!

The exact writing instrument you use is Staedtler Lumocolor Non-Permanent Marker, Super Fine Tip 311-9
This is the superfine tip at .4mm, the fine tip .6mm will work for practice but is obviously larger.
You basically write on spiral bound laminated graph paper that is slightly larger than legal pads. This one comes with the right marker: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0578806428
Yes it is 30USD (exc. taxes) and that does not include the shipping fee from US to Canada. I'm selling mine here in BC for 130CAD that includes 2 editions already with free shipping. THAT'S ROUGHLY 100 USD IF YOU CONVERT. Lastly, check on Amazon Canada for how much they sell used NCEES Practice exams and you'll be surprised. Here's a link for your reference. https://www.amazon.ca/FE-Civil-Practice-Exam/dp/1932613811/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=fe+civil+practice+exam&qid=1642302053&sprefix=fe+civil%2Caps%2C183&sr=8-3
I used this book and the same author’s practice exam booklets. The Qs were the closest things to the actual exam other than the NCEES practice exam. Do every single Qs at least once. Don’t just rely on prepFE.
I started out by trying to work my way through the Brightwood Environmental Engineering FE manual, but found it to be pretty unhelpful. I don't think the proportions of questions on certain topics match the proportions of those topics on the exam, if that makes sense. There were a ton of waste water problems but only like 10 review problems, and like 50 review problems on material science but there aren't very many of those on the exam. Those questions are much more difficult though than the exam, so if you can solve all those problems in that book you'll be golden. However, I don't think this is necessary and probably a waste of your time.
I ended up studying pretty much exclusively from Naimpally and Sinclair: https://www.amazon.com/Environmental-Practice-Ashok-Naimpally-PhD/dp/159126636X
I worked my way through all the problems and then went back and reviewed the ones I had trouble with.
Gregory Michaelson's videos on YouTube can be helpful.
I passed on the first try and my undergrad is in geology, not environmental engineering so I had to teach a lot of this stuff to myself, and found the Naimpally book to be a great resource.
You can find many practice problems uploaded as pdf. The reference handbook is best to be used as a pdf (which you can get online for free) since that is how it will be during the test.
Someone from a couple months ago posted a pdf, here is the link.
I am only familiar with the 2020 changes, so I am not sure how it compares.
I got this to practice with. It was the exact same thing I had during the test. I recommend you get one to practice with while studying so you don't have to adjust while testing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0979017580/
I am also studying for FE-Civil, have not decided yet the date to take the exam. however, I found this link in another Reddit post which I found to be very useful. and it is safe to download from it. I have downloaded all books for FE-civil and am currently studying from them.

good luck!!
Dont be scared. There are people who passed using prepFE alone. I would suggest use direct hub and enGENIEer as well. Then if you feel prepFE is easy then try direct hub, enGENIEer and below rashad islam practice test.

I have a hard copy. Just give me some time to upload pictures and share it with you guys. Alternatively, you can buy it for $10 on Amazon.
says it's updated for 2021 but yeah you're right the author might have just forgotten to remove it. thanks!
All PDF FE disciplines' study schedules are on the app, in the licensure feature-exam prep-study schedules! Also, in the Tools feature you will find electrical engineering resources folder. Please let us know. Thank you.

I see it available. Maybe it not shipped to where you are. Maybe try ebay or another online shopping website? You might even find one on craigslist!
Agreeing with the other commenters, and I will add my two cents.
I took the FE between graduation and starting my first job out of college. I bought one of the prep books (this one I believe), and went through all of the problems. I could not solve all of them by any means, but I at least read through the solutions and picked out the important formulas.
I was more than prepared for the exam. The questions on the exam were much simpler than the practice questions, and my review allowed me to refresh my memory on any concepts and subjects that I had forgotten from freshman / sophomore year. So, in my experience, taking it near the end of your senior year will not be detrimental as long as you put in some prep.
Hey guys! I passed! This is the book that I felt help me the most, a lot of great practice problems. Good luck PPI FE Mechanical Practice Problems – Comprehensive Practice for the FE Mechanical Exam https://www.amazon.com/dp/1591264421/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_A5HKA4ZHT52GJ8FD9AJ5

Do not worry, you can dot it! I took the FE Environmental back in 2017 and July 2020 both time failed. I recently took the exam again the second week of December. Keep the hard work.
Feel free to ask either post some question(s) or DM. Please do not hesitate to consult any topic about the FE Environmental exam with all us.
Good luck!
The author is also Lindeburg and it was published in 1992. Here's the link.
It's basically a much bigger version of his compact FE Review Manual but it covers every topic across all the different FE Exams.
Obviously some things may look out of date since it's really old, but it's still a pretty exhaustive manual that can help you fill in the blanks that EPG and the review manual omit.

It has a few mistakes but overall I think it does a good job and covering a the material. It also has a practice exam (which aren’t easy to find other than the official NCEES white book)
Do you think this book: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/1794302786?psc=1&pf_rd_p=7038e41a-5df4-44c0-b15e-e7c077aa6c9f&pf_rd_r=4GBA9G6TD2ZAWYDN95Z1&pd_rd_wg=xC75V&pd_rd_i=1794302786&pd_rd_w=E2KjT&pd_rd_r=9380b7be-77c4-41a8-9ad4-d0eb6be15f51&ref_=pd_luc_rh_crh_rh_sbs_sem_01_04_t_img_lh would be ok too?
You can also try the practice problems he has:
https://www.amazon.com/FE-Electrical-Computer-Practice-Problems/dp/1591264502
But the Review Manual is usually sufficient for studying.
The practice problems is like a practice exam (or at least previous versions were).

Should be fine, the OFFICIAL HP used to sell them preprogrammed with formulas for Electrical Engineering FE Exam.
You may be pricing the wrong item because I was able to find it on amazon for as low as $53 shipped. But maybe you're not and there is a difference I'm unaware of. $55 still a competitive price no doubt.
FYI, coming from someone who just passed, that book is OK but I highly recommend getting this updated version:
There are more practice problems and more topics are covered (risk assessment, biological treatment, etc.) which the first edition is a little weak in. However, the newer version does NOT have a review of all the necessary equations which the first version you're after does.
Also, in the newer version they write in bold next to the solutions, which part of the FE manual you should be using for that problem. I found that helpful.
Imo if you do all the practice problems (110) and just one of the practice exams (110) you'll be fine.
I passed on my second try. I used the Marshall videos and the official NCEES practice exam in my first attempt and then had to really up my game the second time round and brought a second hand FE Civil practice textbook (FE Civil Practice https://www.amazon.com/dp/1591265304/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_VnVzBbD5304E4) I would honestly recommend if you had time, to go through the textbook because it covers almost every single type of question that could come up instead of only a select few where you have to pray they will be in the exam - unluckily they weren't in my first attempt :( Goodluck!
maybe yeah.. im just curious. By the way I have this book
The problems are a lot harder and I want to do all of them, but sometimes I feel like it isn't even worth doing them. I have the practice exam that has similar problems though. Did your book contain problems that were a lot harder also?
www.eitfasttrack.com has the ebook and Amazon has the paperback.
this book has been up there for over 4 years ! It's awesome.
Thanks for the reply, /u/forfunzies808
I'm going to check my local library if they have a copy. I currently possess, access to School of Engineering Videos, Lindeburg and NCEES handbook.
I would purchase the practice exam with solutions from NCEES for like $30: https://account.ncees.org/exam-prep/324
.
as well as this practice problem set from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Engineering-Preparation-Sample-Questions-Solutions/dp/1544664257/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1507314376&sr=8-1&keywords=anthem+civil+fe
I "used" the FE Other Disciplines Review by Lindeburg
I say "used" because I probably went over 7 out of the 60 something sections in the book.
Major is Petroleum engineering, and I graduate in December.
For me there was a ton of structural stuff. Finding how much load something has. I had zero idea how to do those. Also a lot of problems could be passed with just F=ma. Quite a few electricity problems too. Parallel series especially.
Finding equations with the book is pretty easy if you know who to use the find function.
I guess the Anthem Exam is out of print. Perhaps they are updating it. I'd get the NCEES practice exam and maybe this one
To follow up, would you recommend getting that Anthem book over this book?
Yeah, there is a $25 review book with over 100 practice problems and solutions on Amazon that I will be going over this week. I also really need to study some topics like statistics so I may look into getting some review booklets about that topic.
Check this review book out: https://www.amazon.com/Environmental-Engineering-Preparation-Questions-Solutions/dp/1532827237/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1480357826&sr=1-2&keywords=environmental+engineering+fe
I found it on another post from this sub and it has good reviews. For $25 it can't hurt.
I'm looking at the used versions.
As well, is the FERM a good idea as well? By that I meant the overall FE manual without disciplines. I think that's what it is anyhow
After I finish it, I will work through this one: https://www.amazon.com/Environmental-Engineering-Preparation-Questions-Solutions/dp/1532827237/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1480357826&sr=1-2&keywords=environmental+engineering+fe
Everyone in my class used the former, and I have heard good reviews of the latter on this page.
As I am prepping to take the exam, I know PPI has an electrical specific one formatted for the new testing format (CBT). Also, I recommend "Study Guide for Fundamentals of Engineering ((FE) Electrical & Computer CBT Exam" by Wasim Asghar
This book is helpful for practice and it also tells you with each problem set where to find the equations in the reference manual - which will help you learn what to search for in the digital version come exam time.
I can't answer everything, but I'm a student in WA and my nearest test center is in OR. I registered for the WA board, and it was no problem to schedule in OR.
For review books, I got this guy: http://www.amazon.com/Review-Manual-Preparation-Fundamentals-Engineering/dp/1591263336 A quick flip through makes it seem like it will be well worth my while.
