I highly doubt it because the Foundation books don't follow the hero's journey formula that nearly every other story follows like LOTR. It's more like fake history anthology. We, the people who enjoy that kind of stuff, are very rare and few. You'd have to present it as a fake documentary in order to stay true to the books like this https://www.swtor.com/holonet/galactic-history Goyer said that he tried pitching it this way, but everyone shot it down quickly. Guess why? Fake sci-fi documentaries are not things that draw a ton of people to a new streaming service.
Yes, I would be happy with that myself since I enjoy fake documentaries like this https://www.swtor.com/holonet/galactic-history
However, Apple, the company funding the show, needs more subscribers to Apple TV + or did you ignore the part about how most people do not like watching documentaries let alone a series of fake ones. Netflix has a few of them. While they work from a cost to viewership ROI perspective, they do not have enough viewership to draw people to subscribe like GoT or Squid Games. I believe HBO made some for the GoT prequels. Same issue.
imo this is better than nothing just like LOTR. Besides once there's some commercial success, it means that there's a greater chance for another TV remake just like with LOTR
Seriously, we are living in a bubble on this sub. Just look at the difference in numbers when it comes to, what I assume, is an average TV/show viewer - source. Which is not to say that I like it or that everybody here should. We're just not Apple's main target.
That shitty plastic canoe was so low-budget it was shocking. Like something I'd expect from a SyFy Original, not a $45 million production.
