My Rottweiler boy is the same way. We tried so many tricks but never had much luck. We initially brought him to the vet as a puppy, but when he got a little older they couldn't cut his nails either, with or without sedation!
Then I saw this video of someone hoisting their boy up in a sling! I picked one up and I can't believe it works! We put it in the garage, my wife feeds him little pieces of boiled chicken while I'm on the ground clipping his nails. He doesn't seem to mind it at all! After we are done his little nub is wagging so it can't be that bad!

And possibly different litter. Even with a small box, the cat will usually get fully inside as best they can. This looks like the cat is highly averse to this litter.

I have an eskimo mix, and they also shed like crazy. I find that brushes like this one work super well at removing loose undercoat! A brush session every day for a few days and i noticed a huge difference in the amount of hair around the house

Not sure if you've used it before, but one of the weirdest cat fur hacks I've seen (and can confirm that it works!) is using high-grit sanding blocks to get fur off of cloth: furniture, clothes, etc.
Something 800 grit or higher seems to work best, but even as low as 400 grit is good for microfiber couches and stuff. Just be gentle until you know how well the fabric withstands the sandpaper. I wouldn't recommend for stuff that snags easily, like satin, or delicate silks, but it's awesome for jeans and most cotton blends 😄
