>What's the kiosk mode setting and would it be available on those?
It is not really a setting, but an app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fullykiosk.singleapp, there are several other similar apps.
I remember seeing some comparison table between normal, plus and pro, but don't remember the differences.
If you need longer LED strips, then go with 24V strips. The higher voltage reduce the current. 5m are no problem, I think 10m should work too. There may be a slight reduction in strength at the end. Can you mount the controller in the middle of the run ? Then you get 2x5m instead of 1x10m.
What's weird is that the controller I was sent looks exactly the same as the one shown in the image here on Amazon - as in it's a 2AR8F-GL-C-008, but only shows up as one device, so doesn't appear to be 2ID... yet, I ordered this one which doesn't match the image shown... now confused!
The LEDs are SMD5050s with 60 LEDs per meter. Reckoning on it drawing 15w per meter. Total strip length will be 7m so total draw plus 20% buffer will be 105w. So I’m thinking something like this will suffice.
I bought 4 of these a few years ago and like them. I also bought similar ones that are fixed multi cutter. I prefer the whites because the copper colored wire blends in and can barely be seen. You can also just search "12v fairy lights" for alternatives if they seem interesting.
Ahh. Yes. That is important.
There is a lot of track that fits them, though. They have the bonus of being so dense you don't really need diffusion, either.
I used this kit: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08R6WK5KT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
With these be aware they are 14mm wide, and so don't fit a lot of light track and heatsinks that are sold (most are 10mm or 12mm).
These are the densest that I've found that still have reliable colors across batches. Pricey, but worth it:

I had the exact same condition.
I'd replace your existing dumb-switch with a Philips Hue Smart Dimmer Switch and Remote.
Tie the wires connected to your existing dumb-switch together so that the wire is then always "live". Remove the existing switch and replace it with a blank or if it's a single switch you can get a cover (ETSY) for the dumb-switch that will also hold the HUE remote.
Check this out at Amazon Philips Hue Smart Dimmer Switch and Remote (Requires Hue Hub, Installation-Free, Smart Home, Exclusively for Philips Hue Smart Bulbs) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076MGKTGS/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_glc_fabc_70EA9HP7VRAWKGRH4FCV
Hi...I think I know what you're trying to do and I don't think you want to use that controller for that condition.
A single color LED light strip needs a "driver". If you want to dim that same single color LED light strip you need a "dimmable driver".
Now you just need a Zigbee compatible switch that has on/off/dimming ....possibly the GLEDOPTO ZIGBEE3.0 Triac AC Dimmer.
I use a Lutron Caseta dimmer switch (not Zigbee) with the two items linked below. However, I suppose the Gledopto Triac switch could be used in place of the Caseta switch.

I think so.
But yeah, I don’t mind dc stuff from China directly (I buy the power supplies here that are (hopefully) vetted) but I kinda refuse when it comes to AC. The idea of having an electrical device hooked to power left unattended and not knowing of its been properly built and certified is a show stopper.
On another note: do you really need color for your retrofits? Sure it’s very cool, but, man, is that gonna get expensive. If you can be happy with dimmable white then just make them strict led dumb lights and add a smart dimmer to automate them...
Thanks! They were these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07VBKS3VL/
They’ve worked great. Been through several rain storms without issue. When I bought them, they were 25% cheaper. Id wait and see if the price drops again now that Halloween is over.
I'm done both setups; separate RGB and WW+CW strips, and a single RGBWWCW strip without issues.
The RGBCCT controller can handle quite a lot of current 15A, 6A/channel. Even with those high-density strips you've linked in your post, you should be fine. Just be sure to do the actual power calculations before hooking them up.
I personally prefer using 24V strips over 12V strips, especially for long runs. You can run longer lengths before seeing any voltage drop and they consume half as much current. The downside is the 24V strips seem to be a little less common on the market, so sometimes you need to search. I'm using these right now: LEDENET RGB+W+WW 24V because I'm impatient and buy everything from Amazon, but you'll probably have no trouble finding more options on banggood or aliexpress.
This is the power supply I am looking at : https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01E6RMASC/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A3GP3KKILUBYIY&psc=1
My LED strip is 12V.
So I'm jumping into this conversation late but I'm a complete novice at this I feel still even though I've owned some LED strips before. I am currently waiting for a shipment of a few bulbs that apparently will take a month to arrive. :(
Regardless, so in this case do you get this and pair it with this controller? What power supply do you use with it? I'm looking to have a few long runs. How many meters/feet can you go before it stops working well?
Additionally, do you know if your listing for the strips is available somewhere else? Aliexpress shipping times are understandably long right now.
I’m using this LED STRIP:
LEDENET RGB W WW 24V Flexible LED... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07475JKZW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Everything is working on Alexa (Color changing, cool white, warm white, dim) but when i turn it off, some leds stills on... I noticed that these same leds stills on in parallel when i ask for a specific color (Ex RED)... it’s a 2ID Controller ( 2 ID RGB CCT ZigBee Controller... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RQRD42N?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share ).
Any thoughts on how to properly control this led strip using this controller?
Thanks in advance!
This is what I found. 18/6 conduit

This has all three pieces that work together.
This is exactly the one I have in my house, unsure of if it's an Australian thing, I work in a lot of homes for my job and I see them a lot. More modern houses have fixed LED downlights but my house just has a ton of MR16 cabling in the ceiling.
Curious what would be the recommended amps/watts needed for 2 full strips? These are the strips I bought https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07475JKZW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_P3q4CbRBYR75W (24v strips each requiring 5 amps 120 watts a roll) and I currently have this power supply https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018X975QG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_I2q4CbVNYSP1G
Not sure if I would need a bigger power supply
Btw thanks for all the help!
