I didnt even use a book mate, i bought the Vizual Coaching online ITIL video training which was about £27/$39 (https://stacksocial.com/sales/itil-foundation-course)
They have all the main concepts with some decent in depth quizzes. The user interface isn't the best but you get the hang of it.
I spent about 3 hours a day for just over a week on these videos, making notes along the way. Once i had finished all the study videos i got the exam dump from (http://www.examcollection.com/itil/ITIL.Testking.ITILFND.v2015-07-27.by.Lary.180q.vce.file.html) using Avanset VCE player (about $9.99ish for a month i think) and made sure i knew the answers to every single question. I think about 80% of the questions in that exam dump were in my actual exam.
You dont need to spend more than 2 weeks on this exam, as long as you know the processes you will pass OK. At the end of the day you only need 26 out of 40 to get the cert.
Hi
If you're talking about ITIL specifically, you could try my book ITIL 4 Essentials - your essential guide for the ITIL 4 Foundation exam and beyond. (https://smile.amazon.co.uk/ITIL%C2%AE-Essentials-essential-Foundation-beyond/dp/1787782182/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=claire+agutter&qid=1610614978&sr=8-4)
For ITIL v3 and ITIL 4 I've written two books for the Foundation level - one is very concise and just has the facts you need to pass the exam, and one is more comprehensive and introduces some of my own experience and the lessons I've learned in 20+ years of service management.
My hope with these books is always for the reader to use them after the exam to help them in their job.
I'm working on the same type of book for the four ITIL 4 Managing Professional courses at the moment too, they'll be released throughout 2020.
Claire
It's the official one made by TSO. It was $8.50 but I always fill out the google rewards surveys so I saved a few dollars off of that. Even then I think the $8.50 was worth it just for the quizzes and tests.
u/JonnyLay Thanks for asking. The book title is: "Problem Management: An implementation guide for the real world" and is authored by Michael G. Hall. https://www.amazon.com/Problem-Management-implementation-guide-world-ebook/dp/B00KQITG7O/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=problem+management+an+implementation+guide+for+the+real+world&qid=1605890492&sr=8-3
Even though this copy was published in 2014, I still find it very helpful with improving existing problem management activities (or for creating a new problem management practice). I find that ITIL pubs are helpful with the what to do, but what many of us need is guidance on how to set up the end-to-end process/practice. This book helped me with that.
ITIL Foundation: ITIL 4 Edition; only thing I can find right now.
I've used the following: ITIL Foundation Essentials: The Exam Facts You Need and ITIL Foundation Exam Study Guide.
I've used the Cybrary.IT and CBT Nuggets videos as more of a podcast while I'm doing other things.
Very sorry to hear but the way to succeed is to fail.

I used the "ITIL 4 Foundation Exam Prep" Android app. I'm not a fan of the format and functionality but you can focus on the failed areas from your score report and nail the repetitive studying needed to pass. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.zindiak.Quiz_ITIL4

I've suggested the Zindiak app in this sub previously, but mine was completely free. I just searched ITIL 4 foundation app and liked it more than the other one I tried.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.zindiak.Quiz_ITIL4&hl=en_US&gl=US
The exam will be more difficult than the app, but I still think it really helped solidify a few key distinctions and memorizing terminology.
because of US sanctions, they’ve removed them from the US App Store and the book from the US market.

I just passed the ITIL v4 Foundation exam yesterday!
I studied for about a week 1 hour every day and used:
-Jason Dion’s ITIL 4 Foundation Practice Exams on Udemy
-The free mock exam on the official website
-Abhinav Krishna Kaiser’s book: Become ITIL Foundation Certified in 7 days -At the end of the book, there’s tips to master the exam (free books, https://z-lib.org) -Know the definitions, key words, etc -There’s no trick questions. Focus on reading the questions properly.
DISCLAIMER: I have several years in IT Operations and studied IT management in Uni. There’s knowledge that I didn’t have to study for, which is why I only studies 1 hour per day for an hour. I completed this certification to validate my knowledge for another company.
Best of luck!
Passed my Foundation last night with 39/40 (98%)
Itil V.3 cert and few years in enterprise service management operations helped a lot to prepare.
Some fresh observations:
The exam is quite basic in terms of questions mechanics: every question has 4 options and only one correct answer.
No tricky questions. The "trickiest" question start like "Which is NOT correct definition of smth smth". Don't overthink, it's about remembering main concepts and definitions
It makes total sense to carefully write down and try to memorize as much definitions of practices, as possible + core concepts like SVC and SVS, roles definition etc. Most of the question are just asking what's that and what's this for.
This book really helped me to prepare: Become ITIL® 4 Foundation Certified in 7 Days: Understand and Prepare for the ITIL Foundation Exam with Real-life Examples (https://www.amazon.com/Become-ITIL%C2%AE-Foundation-Certified-Days/dp/148426360X)
I went through it within 5 days prior to exam and reviewing the material and learning the definitions along the way.
On the exam itself I used following tactics:
Ticked all the questions I was sure about. It was around 23 out of 40. That calmed me down a lot and I went very slowly and carefully with remaining questions
Ticked the remaining ones trying to remember as much as possible and eliminating the incorrect options trying to pinpoint the correct ones
Guessed the remaining questions
Oh my bad - I thought you meant the advice you'd received was go entirely for Capabilities as opposed to entirely Lifecycles or a mix of the two.
Apologies if I've misunderstood you.
Also, for anyone reading, be aware that if you mix modules, there are some module combinations that you can't use to obtain Expert certification upon MALC completion. There's a table diagram flying around somewhere....
EDIT: Found it... Skip to Page 29.
I might be late but consider GLPI
I have been using Jason Dion’s courses at Udemy.com and David Pultorak courses at linkedin learning for my video course learning They are both really good.

My two cents
Hi, I would recommend the Service Desk Handbook by Sanjay Nair as a good place to start: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Service-Desk-Handbook-implementation-management-ebook/dp/B08HDH1974

Hi, I'm not sure what your budget is but you can buy a new copy of my ITIL 4 Revision guide for about thirteen bucks. (https://www.amazon.com/ITIL-Foundation-Essentials-ultimate-revision/dp/1787782131/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&qid=1601971534&refinements=p_27%3AClaire+Agutter&s=books&sr=1-1)
It's been licensed and approved as fully meeting the syllabus requirements so it has all you need to prepare for the exam. Good luck!
I know you can purchase the online subscription of the publication, but don't think the "published" books have been released.
Amazon shows the suite as available this Friday. I am hoping a kindle version is available because that works for my study methods.
If you want the smallest, most condensed material necessary to pass the exam, then Claire Agutter's book is what you want.
https://www.amazon.com/ITIL-Foundation-Essentials-Exam-Facts/dp/1849283990/
If you want to really develop an understanding of ITIL, or intend to proceed to more advanced ITIL certifications, then you probably want something more in-depth.
Hi, not sure how useful this comment is, as I didn't get to use any app prior to taking the exam. I really didn't have time to do it. I took a 2-day course, and studied for one week by finishing an ITIL book. I also answered each chapter test, and made sure I got 85% or above score.
I must say you must memorize most acronyms (eg. MTTR, RACI, PDCA, etc). It's all vague to me now, but I also remember questions about processes that you need to know in correct order.
I wished I had tried the app; I think I would've scored a little higher. I guess by now you'd realize how difficult the exam is based on my post. One can get away by religious studying, and if you already have the experience -- help desk/service desk or something similar, you'll probably ace it.
Good luck to you on your exam!
Justin and Rudy's Excellent ITIL Adventure
Only jokes.
What!? Wow. The book is like 400 pages I was going to study for months. What was your study method?
