The platform has been trying to sell these on amazon for probably the same price that the business owner couldn't sell them for.

This is far above the consignment cost. As far as i am aware, there has been zero attempt to sell at cost or slightly below and recoup backer's principal. There is a lot of territory between $20 and $1 that the platform has not bothered to explore.
