OpenKeychain has a surprisingly useful FAQ page that covers this scenario: https://www.openkeychain.org/faq/#what-is-the-best-way-to-transfer-my-own-key-to-openkeychain. Simply replace YOUREMAILADDRESS
with [email protected]
and follow the rest of the instructions.
It helped me, thanks!

It's definitely not going to last long... not now. I got an update on the desktop pretty recently, though I think that was only because of where I installed the software from. (Installed it via Chocolatey on Windows.
As far as I know, this has been a long time coming. Stellar announced a partnership with Keybase back in 2018:
https://www.stellar.org/blog/keybase-and-stellar-partnership/
IIRC it will be for (hopefully) 20 months, or 500 USD per user, whichever happens first.
I mean, they have mentioned before that for taxing reasons they can only distribute/giveaway up to 500 USD to each user.
Also, as it was mentioned on a post on Stellar Development Foundation blog on the footnote they mention/ed that
> The airdrop will run for at least 3 months, with subsequent months subject to basic success metrics for the program
And as the post hasn’t been updated to say otherwise, I would be cautious for any airdrop beyond the 4th month.
Err no, I mean actual transfer fees
>Base Fee
> The base fee for a given ledger is determined dynamically using a version of a VCG auction. When you submit a transaction to the network, you specify the maximum base fee you’re willing to pay per operation, but you’re actually charged the lowest possible fee based on network activity.
> When network activity is below capacity, you pay the network minimum, which is currently 100 stroops (0.00001 XLM) per operation.
I tried installing fuse then reinstalling keybase, using fuse 4.2.1 and 4.2.3. Also tried playing with symbolic links in /library/filesystems/kbfuse.fs/contents/extensions. Can't mimic your success, unfortunately.
I was reading through the docs for
gpg.program
and saw that it expects the program to verify signatures and sign the input that git provides it and the output git is expecting is supported but I suppose the syntax it is expecting to use is where the issue is (syntax for the command is different)?
> I don't trust a company which is focused on user data.
Huh?

Matrix.org + Riot.im = <3
We already migrated our nerdy team to Matrix, and I'm in the process of helping my sister as well get her fully encrypted account and move away from Keybase.
Let's keep an eye on Matrix/Riot. They have end-to-end encryption for private chats/rooms. It isn't super polished, but it's getting better over time.
Just yesterday they switched on end-to-end encryption by default: https://matrix.org/blog/2020/05/06/cross-signing-and-end-to-end-encryption-by-default-is-here
I'm not going to jump ship from Keybase just over this news, but if things go bad with Keybase then that's the most obvious option I see.
The Signal Technology Foundation is a non-profit and has received donations from WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton and the Freedom of the Press Foundation.
If you use Signal you can donate here https://signal.org/donate/
It tucks itself in a few places.. (/library/) launchdaemons, privilegedhelpertools, app support, caches, logs, preferences.
“keybase uninstall” in terminal is supposed to do the job, but leaves a few things behind.
An easier way to completely remove it (and other apps) is to use AppCleaner. Its completely free https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner
Well, you installed keybase only to get some drops of stellar air, you get nothing wich is ok because you deserve just that, nothing!
Me, an old fat yunkie, and obviously one oldies keybase loial user just got that, one funny little stellar airdrop:
Only for me!
I'm unable to verify that message. When I use the -s flag, it generates a pgp message. It's just not signed.
If I do something like...
keybase encrypt reddit:zxlk21e -m "Test and signed." | keybase sign
That works too and produces https://privnote.com/n/wsvsnosjhdlnwncw/#vjazoyyattsmmbxk
For bitcoin private keys, I use KeePassXC (open-source, see https://keepassxc.org).
I suppose KeyBase would be trustable enough to store my private keys, but I’d prefer not to do that since I have the KeyBase app installed on my iPhone, and it doesn’t ask a password to unlock the app. I’d prefer to not worry that I left my phone unlocked and someone somehow got to my KeyBase private folder. I only ever unlock my laptop and KeePassXC when am sober and have full privacy. If/when I (rarely) have a drink, I’d still have my phone in hand.

Reading the README for timeshift, it makes no mention of fuse ( although it does for other FS types ). Suggests to me that perhaps timeshift can't handle fuse based sources properly.
I assume you're using Linux so if you're somewhat command line based, I would recommend restic. It's very fast ( after the initial backup ) and generally easy to use, and works fine with kbfs ( just tested ) . But if all you want is proper local copy of your kbfs storage then rsync is probably more than efficient.
I'd like to have the ability to mount KBFS on android too, but as a work around: What I use for keeping my Keepass password file synced between computer and phone is to use SyncThing and configure it to only connect through your local home network. That means it's not sending any data to outside servers and while the data isn't end to end encrypted the keypass datafile it's self is encrypted and it's going directly from your phone to your computer.
When I try to verify yours in keybase.io/jonsimpson it also fails, says author is unknown. When I verify my own test message it says signed by terryg. I dunno? Can you verify this one on my page?
I have invites. You (anyone reading this) can ask for one on my keybase.
Remember, keybase is in Alpha right now. So be sure to provide a good reason with your request.
