The best post I saw based on D1 numbers were in the post I have linked below. It basically takes a census Bungie published after Taken King and applies that to trophy completion percentage.

If you are just looking to understand the salt, this article does a pretty good job of explaining why veteran players are pissed:

Personally, I am in one of those weird situations where I see both sides of the arguments. As a day 1 destiny 1 player, I expected D2 to be forging new paths, so I am disappointed in Bungie for having to solve the same problems we solved 3 years ago. On the other hand, I am still having fun getting on every week and catching up with the clan, while shooting aliens.

"I did a public talk a couple weeks ago to a room full of all ages kids, and afterwards, a kid came up to me and was talking about stuff. And I shit you not, this kid (somewhere between 13-16 I’d guess) starts talking about how bad devs are because of a youtuber he watches. He nailed all the points, “bad engines”, “being greedy”, you name it. I was appalled."
This reminds me of this other article I read which essentially said game developers would be more happy to talk if gamers are not so toxic:

I would call it innocent because there is no RNG involved in the purchase. It also provides a great balance between players with money and little time and players with little money but tons of time. A low income player can very feasibly never spend a dime in game through trading with players. There's a balance and Warframe does miss but they scale back grind pretty frequently based on player feedback.
For the majority of players lootboxes aren't a problem. They hurt collectors and people with addictive personalities. Whereas you and I say "that's dumb, why would I buy those?" Other player may say "one more" until they've spent hundreds of dollars. A poster on r/destinythegame claimed to have spent well over $1000 on lootboxes trying to get new eververse items. You don't hear about these people because there's few of them and they feel immense shame. But it's no different than those who are addicted to smoking or gambling. And many times people with addictive tendencies come by them genetically.
I used to agree with you about lootboxes. But it's not about me or you it's about those who can't help themselves. Lootboxes are not good in any sense. I implore you to look into them a little and try and understand the viewpoint of others.

Sorry for the wall of text :P
yep, this is what I'm doing. It feels a lot better. I can't stand the K+M anymore. Played a lot of PvP last night this way as well, couldn't tell any difference between k+m players and those using controllers.
I used this app for the PS4 controller, ton of options. I directly connected via USB though, not through Bluetooth. The BT was really laggy and would d/c randomly when I tried that.

When Destiny 2 moved to Steam it became impossible to run it under Wine/Proton. It just doesn't start.
My petition has achieved nothing but you're welcome to sign it. https://www.change.org/p/bungie-inc-allow-linux-users-to-play-destiny-2

I still use my old razor naga mouse for this reason. My left hand just can't deal with hitting many keys anymore - even hitting 1-4 with my hand is wasd is cumbersome now. Using 1-6 on my right thumb mouse alleviates a lot of those issues (7-12 are hard to use in the heat of the moment - I usually use for extra stuff like summoning mounts and opening character screens). One of the first things I do any any new game is figure out what to remap to the naga.
