I have a pair of these and I love them. Really great in 3 seasons. In extreme winter I just wear winter gloves, since these aren't really warm enough.
Sorry. Should have been more clear. I’m old lol so my meaning for duffel bag is a traditional military style canvas duffel bag. Simple long tube which opens at the end and normally has very few pockets. Fairly inexpensive and usually lightweight and heavy duty.
Something like this but a zipper opening might be more convenient to load a scooter.

I got this one:
It's pretty good, I like how solid it feels, and there's a little switch on the back to lock the phone in place. I wiped out and the mount and my phone were fine, not a bad wipeout by any stretch but it held up fine.
Cool. Yeah, a scooter is definitely the best tool for the job. You really want to go for a lightweight model though. I very rarely bring my own trains, (LIRR also) and I feel like mine, which is 55lbs is way too big for me to want to do that often. If a train was part of my every day routine I'd probably go for an Apollo Air, Etwow GT, or Fluidfreeride mosquito. Something like that.
Also buy some of these: (this goes for everyone on micromobility in my opinion.) Clip them on your back or your helmet or backpack or whatever if you ride at night. It gets dark early later in the year. You'd be amazed at how dirty and/or tinted some people's windows are. You want to be seen. Buy a spare charger and keep at your work
I actually put too much time and thought into that, so thank you. :D
Since my bike is a foldable and never parks on the street I figured out how to mount a motorcycle DVR to it ( Motorcycle Dashcam Camera... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08VJCJ52F ). Whole thing gets powered through a USB battery in my front bag during my commute, and I offload video through my phone over WiFi directly from the DVR “console” (stupid issue btw, only seems to work if I put my phone in airplane mode).
Somewhere in trying it all out I discovered that iMovie on my phone lets me easily include a second video in split screen.
Added bonus was setting up the DVR on a handlebar mount so I’ve got a rear view “mirror”.
I originally ordered it about a year ago but finally found the right mounts to mount everything, still let the bike fold up when it needs to, and be able to strip it all off in a reasonable time if I want.
Is this the VA on 23rd st and 1st Ave? I'm not sure of the location from your description.
Scooter is always a good option, but for riding any micromobility at night I always recommend strapping a few of these to your back on your backpack/helmet/purse/belt.
It's a feature, not a bug. Buffered and painted bike lanes are for show, a half-assed measure by equally half-assed politicians attempting to collect credit where it is absolutely not due. Painted and flex-delineated mode separation is like using duct tape to fix a bullet wound. Nothing will change until the legislators do. Vote.
i tend to lose everything, so although i at one point i had some fancy cycling glasses with interchangeable lenses, now i buy shooting glasses from amazon, i have them in smoke for daytime, clear for night. they are adjustable and vented, and the arms are quite skinny and don't interfere with my bike helmet.

Avoid bike lanes, they are the most treacherous. Use bus lanes going crosstown. Besides gloves, full face helmet, protection for knees, hips, shoulders, elbows. I use nice armored jeans and a armored motorcycle jacket.
Hah, that's Red Baron level accuracy right there on the part of the bird. I also wear this thing in winter. It's a lot of helmet, but it's pretty much completely enclosed, very warm, but also somewhat sound dampening. It gets a lot of comments from passerbys, especially kids. In summer I just wear sunglasses a lot, which help keep road dust and bugs and whatnot out of your eyes, but they aren't really mandatory.
You're very welcome. I'm glad people are using it. We don't get analytics on the map, unlike this sub and videos and all that, so we have no idea how many people are using it at all. Glad it's been helpful.
In answer to your other conversations about gear, you're right that hands and knees are the most likely to get road rash if you fall. My gf and I have both ridden over 1500 miles here and each fallen once. I had no injuries at all, she had some road rash on hands and knees, though we easily rode home from both without real issues. I use these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XCCL4V6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_74DZYXD2XD7AHVDEBGWQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Gloves are a great idea but I honestly don't bother when it's warm. Most people ride with very non serious bike helmets, or none at all but full face masks are honestly great. People think others will think it's overkill but honestly they are crazy comfortable compared to bike helmets and protect your face from road rash (which isn't likely even if you fall, but why risk it if you're already buying an expensive helmet.) https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07GT86ZVL?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M7S0DQF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share could of sworn that I included the link to the knee pads in my post. Both helmets you are looking at do not have chin guards which is a non starter for me personally. I saw your scooter can reach up to 25mph same as my emove cruiser. When I ride to and from work every day I wear a full face motorcycle helmet/mountain bike helmet, a mesh coat with ce rated back, chest and elbow protection during the summer and have a riding coat for the colder months. I also wear the knee pads or riding pants and boots. For gloves I currently have a pair of leather gloves but I'm looking to upgrade. When you fall you want gloves with wrist splints that will stop them from hyper extending so you don't have to wear a medical splint for a whole month like me.
I'd honestly return that helmet and get a downhill/motor cross helmet at a minimum. It's not if you will crash but when and even if you are. Going slow doesn't stop a car from crashing into you. I use these for knee pads. Super quick to take on and off. Some people will say it is overkill but I rather be over protected than under protected.
I got myself these:
In doing the research on it I wanted to get gloves that encourage sliding into your fall as opposed to cushioning impact. Its better to have your hands slide out in front of you superman style instead of absorbing the impact into your wrist which has some of the most complicated potential for really bad breaks and fractures.
This does mean youd also want to make sure your chest, shoulders, arms and back are more protected since youre taking the brunt of the fall with your core and possibly sliding, but from all the falls Ive had, wrist sprains alone are so much more worrying and troublesome since your wrists have some of the tiniest bones and crazy assortment of ligaments and nerves.
FYI this is my winter pair. There is also a more breathable fabric version for roughly the same price and theyre cheap enough to merit owning both.
Good luck searching and ride safe!
Bought this Gotrax Ultra for my 50 yo wife on Amazon. $380. She loves it and figured it out right away. Adequately powered and maybe 10 mile range. Well made and just a good, basic scooter. Did a bunch of research too, if that helps.
