We use this sunscreen when we go camping, and it works very well for my mosquito-magnent child. You can also buy a citronella plant, lemongrass, and catnip plants to help keep bugs away. Consider installing a bat box, or making a dragonfly or frog friendly garden. All those guys love to eat mosquitos, and dragonfly larvae even eat mosquito larvae!
I used to get mosquito bites like the that sometimes in Vietnam and Thailand. They used to burn for about 3 days. Best thing I found was White Siang oil. Don’t buy the red oil as that’s for something else. White oil contains menthol and peppermint. Worked a lot better than tiger balm. Link to Amazon:

This works for me. I have to be COVERED in it and it doesn't last for a real long time, but it works. May need to re-apply after a few hours.
If you wanna flex the dollars there is a mosquito trap that uses electricity and propane as inputs. It creates co2 and heat as outputs which simulates human outputs and attracts biters specifically, like mosquitoes. Outdoor use only and costs about 350$. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CLT5D6Z/
Have you considered temporary adjustable window screens? You open your window, put the screen on the interior side, slide it open then close the window over the screen.
Here is an example on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012RYGKU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_6D5GS2W76HNDATMFD5T9?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Idk about where you are but most windows here come equipped to take a framed screen and if you rent they come out super easy!
Also not necessarily that specific screen, I just grabbed the first link I found
They're attracted to carbon dioxide, so you need something that will put off gas for that.
But instead of the blood bag you can just do something that kills them instantly....like a zap of some kind...
I was about to comment peppermint spray, because I use this one indoors, but for camping... I can't think of one that isn't smelly, but I do prefer Picaridin lotions over sprays with Deet. If you haven't tried it yet, it might be worth a smell
