Loud pipes don't save lives. Save your hearing, enjoy the ride.
Now the one thing I'd ask is "are you ready for the change in the torque curve?" My main attractor to any long-stroke twin is simple convenience. Any gear, all the time. My K1200 had no problems pulling from a stoplight this morning in third (whups), but it takes some clutching and patience. Big thumping twin? I imagine it's just "so what?" Also, if you ARE going to, ahem, "pass" someone--it's damn near always downshifting time. Yeah, once you downshift (or 2, or even THREE), it's warp-drive time, but it's a learned skill.
I'm just pointing out that if you're looking to get the MOST out of it (and you're looking at the superbike, not the luxo-ride) you're in for possible habit-changes. The reward is "most" is more than we can possibly imagine. Hang on, shit's about to get real.*
*No sarcasm or digs at HD's, they're plenty serious. But they don't break every speed law in North America in 1st gear and under 5 seconds.

I’m not positive what brand this one is but have one that looks just like it that I got off amazon. Super easy to install with no issues and makes a huge different in light output and makes the bike look much newer. And it’s $100 cheaper than when I got mine.

They’re actually battery powered and have a remote control, if you can believe it. I never need them higher than the lowest setting and they last around 8 hours. https://www.amazon.com/Neveland-Control-Rechargeable-Electric-Settings/dp/B09JW8TWGT/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2NGRUUBU9CO56&keywords=neveland+heated+socks+for+men+rechargeable&qid=1668301881&sprefix=neveland+socks%2Caps%2C99&sr=8-3
Yes, it will have a parasitic draw. I have a similar thing on my 01 Dakar, but it's got provisions to mount on the handlebars, so it's easy for me to disconnect it when I want to prevent the parasitic draw. That's the issue with the Battery Tender version, after unplugging it it's just a loose thing to keep track of.
One possible solution, if you don't want to be constantly unplugging it, is to add an inline switch, something like this
https://www.amazon.com/Yak-Power-YP-ILS16-Waterproof-Inline-Switch/dp/B06XZRX6PK/
You could probably build something similar for way less money than that, but if you want to pay for the convenience, people are making them.
I love my navigator. Great integration with the wonderwheel, any spec of my bike available on its display, awesome antiglare, and best of all no need for cell service.
my favorite feature is to just pick a direction, get lost, and then with three clicks of my wonder wheel, I can tell it to navigate me home via curvy roads only.
With the phone cradle you’re using the motorrad connected app if you want integration, just like if you had a tft… You can use maps or waze, but you'll lose the motorcycle control and integration.
If you intend to do that, you may as well just buy a $40 BMW GPS mount adapter on Amazon

It happened to me too (forgot the kickstand when dismounting to help a fellow rider). It happens.
I bought these: COPART Foldable Extendable Brake Clutch Levers Set Replacement for BMW F750GS F850GS 2018 2019 2020 2021 F900R F900XR Motorcycle CNC Adjustable Short Levers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082F4C99R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_GGNAB2ZDBVSN2C34CQP9
Infact I bought 2 sets because I somehow noticed that if you have spent the $$ for an extra set they don’t break anymore. 🤣
It's worth noting that you can reset the service reminders with a Bluetooth dongle like the OBDLink LX and Motoscan (though you'll need the paid version for that). Used that for years with my R1200R and now using it happily with my K1600GT.
At least in the US the "stamping of the service manual" in my experience seems to be less of an issue and actually is almost never done. I've purchased a couple of used Bimmers and never had an issue or even found the service manual even cracked open. My last couple I bought new.
Sorry, as an Android user I don't know of any iPhone alternatives to that app.
It’s a mount that attaches to the stock GPS nav mount. You know how fast technology moves, especially in motorcycles. The OP was asking about a Monster 821, so it's unfair to compare your friends experiences with older Ducatis as some proof that the entire brand is not as reliable as BMW. Ducati and BMW are both neck and neck for dead last in reliability according to consumer reports. Modern Ducatis by my definition are the new 4 valve, liquid cooled, wet clutch engines you see in most new Ducatis with the exception of the Scrambler. The obviously better bike is the S1000R but OP should get the bike that gives him funny feelings in his pants because they are both phenomenal bikes with great modern every day reliability.
it took me a while to download, but here is a file that has a bunch of links for it. https://mega.nz/#!744iCK4C!ZGSrpuMRCEgPPSaOh5xtZ0nNTDVzAFDmPrMKDFPv-dg
You can also search online bmw motorrad 03/2014 and it will pop up a bunch of websites with links for the download

At least it does on my 17 r9t scrambler.
ive had these on all my bmw bikes for on and off road. reduces hand fatigue greatly.
I don't have an F900XR, but I do have the Akra slip-on on my R1250GS. IMO, it added just the right amount of additional volume, and made the exhaust much deeper sounding. I always ride with ear plugs, so the additional volume wasn't too much of a concern. It's not nearly loud enough to bother my neighbors.
I'd recommend heading to a BMW Motorrad dealer and seeing if they have an Akra equipped bike in the showroom. It's a long shot, but worth calling around. The F900 engine is very similar to the F850, so even if you find an F850 with the Akra, it'd be worth a listen to see if you like it.
If you're not a fan of ear plugs, check out the Etymotic Research ER20XS ear plugs I've got. The company started by making ear plugs for sound technicians, who need to be able to hear the concert accurately, but are at significant risk of hearing damage from the loud volume of the typical concert. They cut out all the harsh noise of the wind and motorcycle, but still let through the sound of the exhaust. I actually prefer the sound of my motorcycle with these plugs in versus out. It's a great incentive to wear them and protect my hearing :)
The Original Grip Puppy Comfort Grips https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00CP9ADD8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_M27CPWQKG21GZJX4K8ZY
I use these on my boxer (not due to vibration but because I have giant hands, so the added girth is more comfortable, and it stops wear on the stock grips which are not replaceable.). They are cut to fit, cheap, and act as a really nice buffer between vibration and your hands.
I recommend them to every f800 and s1000r/xr customer I have.
Yeah, being careful around seals and stuff, and if anything is greasy - to care for it afterwards. Also - massive tip is to get an air dryer like one I'll link here - massive value in actually getting it clean: https://www.amazon.com/SHELANDY-Powerful-Motorcycle-Flexible-Wheels/dp/B07H8TVGR9/ref=sr\_1\_1\_sspa?\_encoding=UTF8&c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=Air+Dryers%2C+Blowers+%26+Blades&qid=1623345151&s=automotive&sr=1-1-spons&ts\_i...
Right on the seam? Take it to a seamstress then put some of those water proofing strips underneath. HOWEVER, with a split on the seams like this, it could be old stitching or weak material, which could mean a new jacket.
Those stock chains are incredible. It'll love you long time if you love it long time. https://www.amazon.com/Motul-Care-Chain-Paste-5-7oz/dp/B008KJT2SE

Just got my yellow LP530s with the narrower driving beam!
I’m still a littttle skeptical of the yellow as I’ve never had yellow lights before. Are they good in clear conditions too?
The stock headlight really is so weak... I’ve heard good things though about the Sylvania SilverStar 9003.
I was almost ready to return them for the white ones but had a harrowing ride through the fog and now wonder if they would’ve helped.
> “13. The view of the motorcycle or the other vehicle involved in the accident is limited by glare or obstructed by other vehicles in almost ½ of multiple vehicle accidents.”
This one stands out to me. Multi-vehicle collisions are the most dangerous. I had to drive home towards the west, and specifically left before the sun set to avoid glare from other motorists.
I also just invested in some sticky tape.
I took some feedback I got from here and another forum and came up with the most current iteration. What do you think? Anyone interested? I sharpened the word Boxer and put a different image of the engine on the back.

I'm a little late to this party but I recently did these on an R1200R and F800R. Super bright (I kinda feel sorry for anyone behind me). No fuss. Straight swap of old bulbs for new LED. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018UWBPK8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I wear these under my helmet all the time. The foam buds are replaceable and the entire bud is low profile.
I know what u mean, mine definitely sticks up a bit above the lip of the plate, BUT... It really is no big deal once it's on there. Like, it's not falling off, and even those bolts end up making a nice little 45° to the kickstand, it looks pretty good in the end and for $18.00CN, (AKA 00.43¢ American), I can't really complain. Don't notice it at all, only thing I WISH was the case is that those bolts were black. Otherwise, solid product that helps for when I don't wanna use my centre stand.
I've got a 2013 F800R, and for those who want to know: Plate Link
I bought a RAM mount that clamps to the bar next to the Nav. I tend to use my handlebar location more because the phone covers the instruments some, especially with the windshield lowered all the way.
If your battery is completely depleted, the Tender JR won't charge it. I opted for the OptiMate 4 CAN BUS edition. https://www.amazon.com/OptiMate-DUAL-PROGRAM-BMW-CAN-bus/dp/B004ZG9Z60/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482250769&sr=8-1&keywords=optimate+4
I just recently got this one for my R1150R with top and side cases and windscreen and I'm pretty happy with it.
I finally gave up on the adjustment for now and ordered this. Hopefully it will fit. The same item is available elsewhere as a "Harley shift lever puller" at about twice the price. :)
I had that happen to me when riding in a group, it bounced off one of the guys behind me and landed in the weeds without a mark. Took me a second to realize what all the honking was about.
I ended up replacing the BMW screw used to hold the seat with one from Amazon, combined with that white plumbers tape it never came out on its own again.
I suppose this is a little old to reply to, but this is the standard tool for the job. http://www.amazon.com/Motion-Pro-08-0292-Bearing-Removal/dp/B000GVF76A
Actually the standard tool is a long pin punch and heat gun, but the puller above is the right puller if you need one.
