There are vast differences between eliciting someone's strategy for doing something and modeling their behavior. There is no way "Unlimited Power" has a thorough explanation and methodology for modeling someone.
If you really want to understand the NLP Modeling protocol and utilize it, get this book:
GET THE LIFE YOU WANT. By Richard Bandler
The BIBLE!!! :-)

Get the printed version though.. cause the audible version can be a little confusing
I recommend anything written by Dr. William Horton. His book titles are a little click-bait-ee but the content is excellent. Here is a link:
I have the 3rd one, by Steve Andreas, read it a long time ago when I was just starting with NLP. I liked it, but I dont know if it would be my recommendation for a beginner. Actually, I think a good one to start is "Psycho-Cybernetics" by dr Maxwell Maltz http://www.amazon.com/Psycho-Cybernetics-New-More-Living-Life/dp/0671700758/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1428592103&sr=1-1&keywords=psycho-cybernetics
Coming to Wholeness: How to Awaken and Live with Ease (The Wholeness Work Book 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JD89Z32/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_1TKBGF4ZQ1848VHVD5P3
I bought mine on Amazon. Read it on Kindle. it complements the free one hour video that she has on her website. I highly recommend it.
The book Improve Your Writing with NLP has some useful ideas: https://www.amazon.com/Improve-Your-Writing-Judith-Pearson/dp/1845908619/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1NV6E1A52VPWJ&keywords=improve+your+writing+with+NLP&qid=1654524384&sprefix=improve+your+writing+with+nlp%2Caps%2C65&sr=8-1
This book is definitely a great place to begin.
Richard Bandler - Thinking on purpose
The book with the least fluff imo. Most NLP books are stuffed full with stories, the life story of the author and other „let me convince you, how awesome my technique is without explaining the technique“-chapters.
Thinking On Purpose: A 15 Day... https://www.amazon.de/dp/0998716731?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I guess I can recommend a bunch, but you can start with my paper and go dig some references from it: https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/From-web-crawled-text-to-project-descriptions%3A-of-Milosevic-Marinov/c136525ec696c5adf387326f221d91eba3ea7c56
Was just reading an article on how MENSA members are more likely to have all manner of problems, and it said, "For example, people preoccupied with intellectual pursuits may spend
less time than the average person on physical exercise and social
interaction, both of which have been shown to have broad benefits for
psychological and physical health. " That could be the answer in a nutshell, then. https://getpocket.com/explore/item/bad-news-for-the-highly-intelligent
I'm building an iPhone app to help facilitate NLP techniques.
Here's a video demo of what it looks like: https://www.loom.com/share/b9846b40bc1f47ba94c103c64fb84e1e
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you're interested in joining the private beta of the app, or adding a script that you like to it :)
teach yourself to wrap therapeutic messages into metaphors. it will make all your hypnotic work more elegant.
Finding out whats satisfying and what just increases the hunger for more is a journey in itself.
Even sleep is sometimes really satisfying and sometimes we/I wake up like a semi-truck drove over me.
I actually wonder what exactly would satisfy social "hunger". So far feeling understood and listened too.
In that regard Clean Language from Wendy Sullivan really changed my mind what satisfying conversation can look like. Talking in the metaphors another gives instead of imposing your own mental pictures on the conversation. Also the other using your metaphors felt deeply satisfying. Altough I was never able to translate it into real-life talk with non "initiated" :D
I totally agree with your
> It is only when we have systems in place to consistently gratify our lower needs that we are able to free up our inner vitality to really focus on ...[higher tiers]
if sleep and play is at low fullfillment I can use Oh so many motivation techniques, I won't be able to motivate myself to do anything :D
All the originals by Bandler and Grinder - eBay is your friend here as many are out of date and sometimes go for over-inflated prices. Look in the large second hand book dealers stores on ebay.
Everything by Steve and Connirae Andreas.

Robert Dilts also has produced some excellent published resources as well as this massive resource and undertaking: http://nlpuniversitypress.com/html/CaCom40.html
The biggest mistake I notice many people make is to reduce NLP to patterns and techniques. NLP is not a science, it's an art. I would suggest reading as much of Richard Bandler's writings as you can, to understand the underlying concepts and use books, like this one, as a reference for the traditional patterns you'd like to utilize:
I recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/Clinical-Effectiveness-Neurolinguistic-Programming-Appraisal/dp/0415635152
The R&R Project is taking an NLP technique for PTSD through the studies necessary for VA approval... they are getting cure rates in the >90% range. http://www.researchandrecognition.org/research.html
Haha, I haven't read anything but I definitely changed. For the past 6 or so months, I have been changing every week. I have just been nit-picking all of my small problems and putting them into this thread knowing that they could be fixed. I'll read those books. They seem cool. Do you know of any books that discuss proven facts about human interaction? For example, Models by Mark Manson is a book everyone recommends over at /r/seduction (not sure how you feel about that) but it talks about all the facts proven about female behavior and attraction. Is there a book similar to this but covers human interaction that applies to every human? In a way, a guide to making other members of society enjoy your company. Like a cheat code in video games; it helps you get around easier having an advantage over others.
Edit: Maybe the book you mentioned, Introducing NLP, is the book I am asking for after re-reading your comment.
A big part of my work that I do with clients is helping others get connected to what I refer to as the level of "purpose."
If you are not already familiar I would suggest Vicktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning.
I am new to reddit so I dont know if you can message me if you have anymore questions. But feel free to look me up on FB or twitter and message me there if you want.
Sorry I have not answered sooner but I get distracted easily and I forgot to get back to you. Here is a cheap start to NLP if you want to learn more.
Neuro Linguistic Programming NLP Techniques - Quick Start Guide
Here is a cool author if you want to learn about hypnosis.
Due to an error on my side the main website explaining it is down. Hopefully it will be up again next week. You can read a bit about it here:
http://nlpexpats.com/what-is-the-neurogram/
Or in my book:
The publisher didn't want to mention the Enneagram but the book is 50% NLP and 50% the Enneagram. (I had not yet thought of the Neurogram at that time when the book was written ten years ago.)
My book has the clearest description of the three most important NLP techniques to (1) stop bad feelings and replace them with good feelings (2) stop worrying about the past and/or future and replace it with a vision of the future that oozes confidence and (3) stop negative inner self talk:
The book you want is The Clinical Effectiveness of Neurolinguistic Programming: A Critical Appraisal
It's quite good. It reviews studies done on NLP approaches to a variety of problems like phobias, PTSD, anxiety, addictions, etc. It includes a discussion of issues with researching NLP and makes suggestions for future research directions.
https://www.amazon.com/Clinical-Effectiveness-Neurolinguistic-Programming-Appraisal/dp/0415635152
This one is a really good primer. Recommended by a decent handful of NLP-literature-knowledgable people I've known. Great balance of breadth and depth. no audio book version that I know of.
https://www.amazon.com/Introducing-NLP-Psychological-Understanding-Influencing/dp/1855383446
> follow perhaps the wrong school and place faith in a author who has at best no authority and at worse speaks rubbish.
heh. with a little NLP active in your brain, most of that will, I'd bet, lose a lot of relevance to you.
Not NLP but 'transactional analysis...may help (chapter 4 , handle feelings through trackdown):
also a book called 'I'm ok you're ok'.
THE book about anchoring is "Frogs into princes" and also it that book is eliciting.
The Joseph O'connor book http://www.amazon.ca/Introducing-NLP-Joseph-OConnor/dp/1855383446/ref=pd_cp_b_0 says "psychology" on the cover. Psychology is the "study of", NLP is the "use of" language and imagination, etc. so I suggest the Bandler / Grinder books.
And do everything you can everywhere you are with everybody around you to get something better.
You're still hesitating? stop and smile and decide.
I haven't read all the books. The map is not the territory, can't put the world in a book, not even a million books.
How come your brain can record a whole movie in 90 minutes with the music the colours the dialogue the names the year the movie is set in the culture the emotions the volume of the noises the feelings so that you can talk about a movie you just saw for days and you still haven't described everything because the brain records up down left right near far loud soft bright dark and even the sequence of events faster than anything in the world for free.
and I can say 2 words and bring back a boat load of feelings and images and sounds: STAR WARS
