I haven't noticed Nanoha being the subject of particular controversy much. Maybe it has to do with it not being as high-profile as it once was, or maybe it has to do with the franchise being rather fond of some pretty wholesome themes to be honest.
For what it's worth, I do remember Goblin Slayer being a subject of controversy lately, and that is sitting on Amazon for $2.99 an episode and just one easy payment of $24.99 for the season, so I don't think any cultural/political consideration is the reason for whatever Amazon did with the Nanoha franchise.
A bit off-topic, but kinda wonder now if it's worth someone making a "no fanservice edit" of Nanoha, as it is a thing some folks dislike enough that they just can't look past it.
For example, someone made a "no fanservice edit" of Tenshi no 3P (note: this link is to a torrent site), a show about this hikikomori helping a bunch of girls form a rock band.
