Yeah, it is acetylcholine related. I would say alpha-GPC or Cognizin paired with something that positively modulated ACh. H1 receptors are at play, too. However, that is more difficult to target.
Hmm, the methylphenidate throws a variable into the equation. I bet that is playing a role. I get very angry/wound up on DRIs like methylphenidate. My brain chemistry respond much better to releasers like amphetamine than reuptake inhibitors for some reason. I have a feeling it is due to VMAT2, which affects dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, epinephrine, and histamine. Both methylphenidate and amphetamine modulate VMAT2, but in different ways. Perhaps milk thistle is modulating it, too. In fact, that might be one of the mechanisms behind its neuroprotective effects.
https://sci-hub.do/10.1016/j.phymed.2020.153320
I am deep into speculation territory here, but my brain absolutely reacts much differently to DRIs than DA releasers. I have a feeling VMAT2 expression/inhibition/induction is playing a role in that.
Till recently, the only human clinical studies on lion's mane were with whole mushroom powder, not even an extract, much less an ethanol extract.
Reduction of depression and anxiety by 4 weeks Hericium erinaceus intake
So those human clinical studies used what was effectively the same as our 1:1 lion's mane. The ethanol extract thing is an assumption based on in vitro and animal studies. I do think the 8:1 is more potent, and that is a dual water/ethanol extract. However, that does not mean the 1:1 doesn't work. We have human clinical studies showing lion's mane fruiting body powder works in humans, even with ZERO extraction.

I've been using this for the last several months. Strong smell, mild astringent flavor. Easily masked by coffee or tea, and blends fairly imperceptibly into smoothies.
ND's pine bark extract is going to be a quality-assured generic product. The ginkgo, on the other hand, will be a totally new, unique formulation, and I think that's why a lot of us are excited, as ginkgo is one of my all-time favorite herbs.
And I'm incredibly glad that ND chose this path, instead of going the easy way.
It seems to be a non-competitive 5-HT3 inhibitor.
1) That depends on the person. Some swear by both of them, and other people get no or slightly opposite effects. I'd say for me personally oleamide would combine best with lemon balm for deep sleep.
2) Not in my experience for either. Berberine has a unique way of regulating blood sugar.
So berberine is not like a sledge hammer like Metformin is. It's a much more natural way of helping normalize glucose levels, by increasing expression of the insulin receptors and sensitizing your body to it. Moreover, it is much safer and leads to longer-lasting improvements to the body's ability to regulate blood sugar.
Amazon has ginger juice by the ginger people that is pretty damn good. I used to make my own ginger juice and when I priced it out they ended up being cheaper. I've got it on autoship, going through about 1 bottle every 2 weeks.

The increase in awareness about your cognition and how it's improving/changing is 70% of the thing. In that sense, methods are a bit overrated.
As a statistician, I like to work quantitatively on every cognitive test I do, but in 3~4 years doing this, I noticed that my feelings about the variance were doing a better job showing how my cognition was changing. The brain and its faculties might be too complex to be better represented by numbers, at least in our current models. I still work with numbers tho.
That said, my main app is SpeedReading by Green Key Universe. It's free, their tests are great and you get a faster reading speed as a consequence of training. It's perfect. PlayStore Link
I like Lumosity as well, but their Premium account is too expensive IMO. It's a very good site however, and if you put enough time going through all the games (when they are free) you eventually create a good baseline to compare.
A nice tablet cutter is really useful. We got one for our dog's medicine, and it works well.
https://www.amazon.com/Apex-Deluxe-Pill-Splitter-splitter/dp/B000EGP5DC
I've thought about doing some ND tablet cutters eventually.
I am not against scoops that are high quality and calibrated. That's fine. However, that does not come from the vendor themselves as a plastic scoop in the jar. You have to get a nice set of stainless steel ones in varying sizes, then calibrate them with a scale for that batch of a specific powder.
So something like these: https://www.amazon.com/Measuring-Spoons-Stainless-7-Ingredients/dp/B0758FH37D
I have considered offering a set like this to people. It's something we will likely do at some point. The issue is that we will not give generalized recommendations for which scoop to use for a specific powder. The calibration with a scale is crucial for me to consider it accurate enough for normal use. Also, you have to remember that while people here on Reddit that care enough to actually research and comment on nootropics are more advanced, the vast majority of customers out there are a different type of person. They don't care about accuracy or consistency. They care about ease of use, and will only consider accuracy/consistency if they are forced to. Sometimes we have to hold firm on something because the general population just will not consider it on their own. If you could read/see some of the things we have had to deal with on the support side over the years, you would understand. Some people only care if they are dragged kicking and screaming to the end result. If we started including scoops, that's all anyone would use, as they would consider that an endorsement from us on them.
I had an interesting uptick of motivation by adding choline, specifically Doctor's Best Natural Brain Enhancers. Might not be a terrible addition as I believe breastfeeding also increases the need for choline
Definitely NOT, at 16 and up to your middle 20's + you are full of testosterone, at this age you feel like you want to screw what ever walk on 2 legs, that's how I felt at 16, if this is how you feel you have no business taking anything that will mess with your hormonal system, further more, you still not fully developed physically, I understand you're 6' tall but you're 16 years old so you probably will have some more to go as far as tallness, like other said, eat right, get at least 8 hours of sleep every night, no smoking (drugs or else) or alcohol, exercise and you will slowly but surely put some weight on, get some good whey protein and follow the direction on the package..
Also keep in mind that at your age your metabolism is running on high gear and that is why you're having a harder time gaining weight, the older you get (55 +) the harder it will be to get ride of your fat surplus (if you have any) as your metabolism will slow down.
I was a twig when I was 16 at 5' 11" and I mean a twig, I had to run in the shower to get wet but I grow out of it..
When you reach 20+ you decide what you want to do as far as taking supplements like that, I tried Tonkgat Ali and I did not get good results, high blood pressure was one of them.
All of this above is me assuming no have no physical or health problems.
All about paraprobiotic a
And yes, immuse is one and I really wish they were stocked up because I could use those.
But I take Jaro-Dophilus.
I read where it is technically considered a paraprobiotic, but it identifies as a probiotic for gut health and it’s working wonders.
I was looking for a good B-complex as well. In the absence of one from ND, I just recently ordered these from Thorne. Did I do alright?
That's fair! Hey, if you can afford it, go for it. I use these capsules and they last forever: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMQRQ3E?ref=nb\_sb\_ss\_w\_as-reorder-t1\_ypp\_rep\_k0\_1\_3&amp=&crid=1RX8HXK1EJC4M&amp=&sprefix=psy
I was looking at this brand but I don’t trust Amazon and I don’t trust really hardly anyone anymore when it comes to supplementation. So much bullshit to wade through. I appreciate the advice I get here, and I appreciate ND themselves. I know neither is full proof or infallible, but it sure beats searching elsewhere.
In my research on CD38 a study was mentioned a few times in some articles -->
CD38 and its role in oxytocin secretion and social behavior
what is your take on this one?
could try increasing natural killer cell count / activity
Kyolic aged garlic extract is a promising one. probably around 1g - 2g daily. has a couple human studies backing it & a decent amount of anecdotal reports.
Shiitake, can double NK-T immune cells & increase their activity, by 4 weeks at 5 grams dry powder daily. idk what equivalent that would be for NDs shiitake. they have a lower dose targeted product so i went for a standard whole powder one. ^(https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Consuming-Lentinula-edodes-(Shiitake)-Mushrooms-A-Dai-Stanilka/5fd1e33a77be222f76d2862b710e9fb37b3b7ec9)
Also AHCC is well studied. shown to increase natural killer cell activity. saw a human study where it went up 2.5x more by 2 weeks which sounds worthwhile. 3g daily.
fish oil can reduce natural killer cells if taking high amounts
Horny goat weed seems to be more of an adaptogen for testosterone, so preventing the decrease in testosterone that can happen from high-intensity exercise.
To some level, yes. However, tongkat would be more potent for testosterone. What horny goat weed does seem to do is prevent the decrease in testosterone that can happen from high-intensity exercise.
Am based in the UK and find this one to be good quality for the price on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08XZL62FX/ref=emc_b_5_mob_t
Recalling my previous research I believe you want to find a broth that contains type 2 collagen, usually rich in parts of an animal such as neck and sternum - I know yummy.
Generally bone broth will be rich in the necessary amino acid precursors (glycine, proline, lysine) for collagen synthesis and so chicken should not be essential in this regard. However, I do believe it is superior for type 2 collagen - which does seem to be effective in reducing cartilage breakdown & localised inflammation.
Collagen peptides basically work by the same mechanisms i.e. providing your body with the amino acid precursors. So, if you are already drinking bone broth daily and taking in those amino acids they’ll likely provide little additive benefits.
May be so but without analyzing the product we can't tell for sure....unless you have facts to the contrary.

Make sure you buy a good quality one I've took ecdysterone in the past and I felt nothing. But once i found a good quality one I felt stronger within a week. Ive been taking this one
That could be it.
I go to sleep and wake up at pretty much the same time every day, and I quickly rise from bed and turn on my light box for 30 minutes to wake up. I highly recommend it and it actually can improve depression.
Oh I haven’t tried ND’s cistanche yet. I bought this 112g bag on Amazon for $25:

>It contains a negligible amount of DHA. The amount of DHA is very low that we do not claim it on the label.
Let's hope for the best 🤞🏻 I'll let you know how it goes.
Yes, both our Horny Goat Weed 10% and Horny Goat Weed 50% extracts are currently available to purchase on Amazon.
i used to take the jarrow one and good response w/ it but now it's discontinued afaik for some reason. tried life extension and it's different fillers etc.
Try DIM: https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Way-Diindolylmethane-Vegetarian-120-Count/dp/B0009F3RP6/
I would take 50mg with food 1-2 times daily.
>In small amounts, it can both inhibit the aromatase enzyme (and prevent conversion of testosterone into estrogen) and it can act on more potent forms of estrogen and convert them into less potent forms; this conversion reduces the overall effects of estrogen in the body.
I highly suggest using a product like this instead of the tiny pan that comes with the scale:

Just search ‘anti static weigh boat’ and there should be plenty to pick from. Each can last a very long time even without then rinsing it out after using it for weeks on end, so a pack of a few hundred will basically last forever.
Lab weigh paper is another good thing to have.
Like this:

‘Lab weigh paper’ would provide results. They’re also pretty reusable so a large pack also lasts forever practically.

Ohh man, I don't have the energy to go on another long rant. I will just do a short one.
>CLEAN TONGKAT ALI EXTRACT - 669mg extract which is equivalent to 133,800mg (2% eurycomanone = 13.38mg) in each Capsule.
Anyone doing this stupid shit can sit on a rusty nail. It's the equivalent of 133 GRAMS of Tongkat Ali in a single capsule?!? Please... This is becoming a trend in the supplement market. Companies use false equivalents to make it seem like there is more in there. Some brands are worse than others. Some go all the way into fraud.
Look at these assholes!
https://www.amazon.com/Horbaach-Longjack-Capsules-Longifolia-Supplement/dp/B07HZ529T5/
They put 1,600mg** on the front of the label. However, if you look in the Supplement Facts box, it's only 80mg... Ohh, but it is totally a 20:1 extract! We can lie to people as long as we put two asterisks next to our lie!!! I hope all these brands die in a fire.
Hmm, are you sure it's so expensive? What about this? https://www.amazon.com/Vitamin-Organic-Absorption-Certified-Softgels/dp/B07255MPRN/ref=sr\_1\_9?crid=2JAT2FND95UOO&keywords=vegan+vitamin+d3&qid=1646953902&sprefix=vegan+vitamin+d3%2Caps%2C91&sr=8-9
Very interesting question! I was always under the impression that C60 was exclusively man made, but after doing a bit of research, I came across the following study:
Found in meteorites, ammonites and shilajit. Hmmmm is Shilajit extraterrestrial and brought here by our alien ammonite overlords? haha
All joking aside, this is pretty fascinating, and I'm quite curious now too. My guess is that the concentration would be extremely small, but we know for a fact that Shilajit contains dibenzopyrones (DBP), so if DBP can make conjugates with fullerenes, then if fullerenes were present in the rocks from which Shilajit was oozing, then perhaps it could contain some and potentially in a more bioavailable form too.
I'll have our lab director chime in with what would go into testing for C60, as I'm sure it would be a tricky one to test for, especially considering that within the context of shilajit, the C60 would likely be conjugated with DBP.
I've had the same issue from what I'm pretty sure is the same model. Tried cleaning it by soaking with isopropyl and while made better measurements, it started only having like 2 hours of battery life.
I gambled on a different one off Amazon and it's been better, seemingly more accurate too, but that specific one isn't available any more. There might be other sellers for the same model though.
yes actually, i did. and i slept better than ever (i often have terrible insomnia & even when i do sleep is not always restful, good sleep). i didn't think that would be the case but really it was fine. the only thing was sometimes would make me hungrier more frequently (but nothing crazy and in that case i just ate some more potatoes lol). but i had way less cravings for junk food on it which feels like freedom as i often struggle with those. google "the potato hack" which i believe was the original starter of this trend but several others have since got involved as well, same principal, minor variations...find those by googling "potato diet". also of course on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Potato-Hack-Weight-Loss-Simplified/dp/1530028620 . there are fb groups and all, has really caught on over the years.
i still use it from time to time, like a week or two here and there every few months to drop a few pounds & for the dreams. only thing (for me) is, i can't stick with it too long just because i miss all the rest and friends tempt you to eat out, etc. (and also female time of month madness...sorry tmi lol) but i never got sick of eating potatoes and i came to love a simple cooked potato with just salt & pepper, still eat them like that, potato hacking or not.
and even tho i never read the book "potatoes not prozac" after experimenting with the potato hack, i would like to when i have the time because there is def something magical about potatoes that has gotten lost in the low carb craze.
We can only speculate, but there have been some modified versions of NALT created that bind to PPARα. They have also discovered that L-tyrosine and L-DOPA have their own receptors in the body they can bind to and act as hormone-like compounds in the body.
https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1755-148X.2011.00898.x
SHBG levels increase as we age, thus allowing more to bind to free flowing T, thus if we decrease it, there is more available to bind to receptors, TK appears to release T that is bound by SHBG
Therefore if man is in his 30-40's the effects will be more noticeable then a person who might have just matured into a full adult 18+
The extract known as LJ100 which myasd trialed for a while has a G.R.A.S status though it's not nearly as potent as the one ND offers
This study noted on tongkat a decrease in SHBG levels ( nothing out of normal ranges ) but interestingly did not alter the levels seen in men
Hm, that's in vitro, so I looked it up a bit. I see this study Effects of 2 Adenosine Antagonists, Quercetin and Caffeine, on Vigilance and Mood did not reach significance when administering as much as 2000 mg of quercetin.
Semi-relatedly, this one shows that quercetin reduced the area-under-curve of caffeine and paraxanthine. Shame they didn't also do any kind of alertness tests in the co-administration group. Quercetin significantly inhibits the metabolism of caffeine, a substrate of cytochrome P450 1A2 unrelated to CYP1A2*1C (-2964G>A) and *1F (734C>A) gene polymorphisms
A dual effect of N-acetylcysteine on acute ethanol-induced liver damage in mice
>We hypothesize that local redox environment might influence the effect of NAC.Before ethanol, the body is in intracellular redox balance. When administered before ethanol, NAC behaved as antioxidant and significantly attenuated ethanol-induced oxidative stress in mouse liver. However, when administered after ethanol, NAC may interact with ROS generated by ethanol and generate thiyl radicals, which, in turn, may impart a pro-oxidant function. Actually, the presence of metals, such asCu(II), and the presence of ROS, such as H2O2, potentiate“auto-oxidize” process of NAC[42]. Furthermore, as it has undergone auto-oxidation, thiol no longer acts as an “antioxidant”. Once initiated, these reactions can produce additional ROS including O2−•,H2O2, and•OH. Thus, when administered at 4 h after ethanol, NAC behaved as pro-oxidant,aggravated ethanol-induced lipid peroxidation, and eventually worsened acute ethanol-induced liver damage. These results are in agreement with our recent report[43], in which we found that pretreatment with NAC prevented from LPS-induced intrauterine fetal death and reverses LPS-induced fetal growth and skeletal development retardation, whereas post-treatment with NAC aggravates LPS-induced preterm labor.
So NAC becomes pro-oxidant if you take it after drinking alcohol without having it in your system before you start drinking. This is why we do not have NAC in our Alcohol Defense product, and why we think it is VERY irresponsible and dangerous for all the anti-hangover products out there having NAC in them. One hing is for sure, people who drink alcohol will sometimes forget to take their supplements before they start drinking. If you have NAC in the product, you are harming those people with your supplement.
Curcumin's effects on DHT are complex.
https://sci-hub.do/10.1021/jm020200g
>The parental compound, curcumin(1), was inactive in all cases. However, dimethylated curcumin (4) showed significant antagonistic activity(reducing 70% of DHT-induced AR activity) when assayed in PC-3 cells transfected with wild-type AR(wt.AR) and was more potent than HF (which reduced16% of DHT-induced AR activity, Figure 3A). Compound4also showed the highest antagonist activity when assayed in DU-145 cells transfected with a mutant LNCaP AR and ARA70 (showing a 45% reduction in DHT-induced AR activity, Figure 3B), indicating thatcompound4is an effective antagonist for both wt.AR and mutant AR.
So curcumin has no effect on DHT synthesis, but some of its derivatives do. Curcumin itself does have protective effects in relation to DHT, but those appear to be different mechanisms than 5AR inhibition. When we hydrogenate the curcuminoids, it is anyone's guess how that affects the DHT mechanisms. We can only speculate till we have more data.

Buy a milligram scale. Then buy mini spoons that measure 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, and 1/64. Like this: 5 Pcs Stainless Steel Measuring Spoons Mini Spoon for Home Kitchen Baking Cooking https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QRCDWBJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_9HYQE4DJVD6SFJWATHSN
Then measure how much Shilajit is in each spoon then choose your dosage
Nigella sativa is also called black cumin seeds or black caraway, although it is not related to cumin itself. It's a spice that has a mild flavor. I've been grinding about a teaspoon in a coffee grinder and adding it to a bowl of homemade soup. No preference on brand, but this is the one I bought. I use a coffee grinder with a removable bowl like this. I also use the grinder to grind a mix of flax and chia before I put it in shakes. I use a different grinder for actual coffee.
Of note is that black cumin, and cumin, are both very high in salicylates or "natural aspirin". Eating a teaspoon of cumin can be like taking a baby asprin.
smh, anti-static weigh boats are the true path. Still working on the one pack I ordered like 4 years ago.
Yeah, April 2017. Don’t even rinse them out regularly or anything. A single one can last weeks and I purchased 500.
There's also Sensory Processing Disorder which can exist outside of autism (commonly comorbid with ADHD too). This book is a great resource for adults with SPD to help lay barren their field of sensory fucks.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KW4E44W/
I bought that, but when it was white. I bought it spring 2017 and still have hundreds left even though I’ve used it basically every day.
Can use that as a generic idea of them and grab another that’s in stock and white might be best so you can easily see what’s leftover, especially for when it could use a rinse if you want to re-use them for a while. Compare the dimensions for that one to any other weigh boats since I can confirm this size is good with the Gemini-20. I’ve lately seen some with a little pouring lip too. I just squeeze on two opposite corners to slightly bend it and funnel it better into my oblate pouches in their stand.
Your Amazon wish list must look a lot like mine. I found that having a second milligram scale with a 50g or higher capacity is very useful as well. I use this one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TBJBFRK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_i_M1MVZR8QJHEAJNTK0NW5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 (50g capacity, .001 readability; includes a calibration weight). This scale was very durable, rarely needed calibration, and I liked that it came with a soft case as opposed to the box-as-case like the Gemini clones.
I use the Bestqool X-60 right now: Bestqool Red Light Therapy Device - 660&850nm Near Infrared Led Light Therapy https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08687T6WR/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_DDEbGbKSWVEMC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I do 10-20 minute sessions either laying on my body or six inches away. Ideally, to my understanding, you should do two fifteen minute sessions six inches away per week per limb of your body. Recently, I've gotten around to the whole body. I do my skull, chest, belly, sides, legs, feet, either back and front at any point. When I laid it on the back of my shoulders for 20 minutes, I felt a strong IcyHot decongestant effect.
yeah I'm stuck at home as well and although I have decent equipment not nearly enough variety as I would have in a commercial gym. I was taking Tier 1 Preworkout which IMO had the perfect mix although I probably could do with less caffiene.
https://www.amazon.com/Tier-Preworkout-Performance-Supplement-376g/dp/B00EDTJW3U
The caffeine gave me enough of a boost to get in the gym after a long day of work and then the rest I definite noticed a difference in performance, creatine being the most important IMO. This past year caffeine started to hit me a little different and gives me a restless sleep when taken later in the day.
/u/MisterYouAreSoDumb any suggestions?
Any recommendations for good probiotics? I ususally go with Hyperbiotics PRO-15 but I'm not super committed to them for any reason.

Pop over to r/quittingkratom
There’s a ton of information on the quitting process and helpful supplements, and checking in daily (or every now and then) really helps compliance and not feeling completely alone.
I personally found DLPA, Shilajit (studies show it helps massively with opiate withdrawal) Buffered Vitamin C megadoses (helps incredibly with aches/pains and mood through its action on endorphins and BH4), Zinc and Magnesium, and ONNIT B Complex to make the experience actually doable, with minimal PAWS and a much better baseline than before even using. Just watch out with the B Complex if you have MTHFR SNP’s as the methylfolate could cause its own symptoms and mental maladies before evening out.
Best of luck mate!
Is there anything special about Reacta-C? Or would other products do as good a job, like "Buffered Vitamin C" (e.g. Thorne, Now), or other brands with a "delayed release" or "time released" vitamin C? (I barely see any options for a Reacta-C supplement here in Europe).
I'm looking for something at least as good as the AWS GPR-20 I have now, in other words, something reasonably accurate to, say, +/- 2mg, below 10mg. (I'm probably being compulsive about this, but the AWS taring/calibration seems a little flaky to me.) I might be willing to pay $150, but I'd certainly pay $60-80.
The only thing that worked for me https://www.amazon.com
These are 1.25g per cap. $0.09 per cap.
Honestly, I'm not sure which brands are better as I wasn't using it for that long. You can find it easily on amazon or at your local Walgreen's though. This is the brand that I was using, Irwin Naturals - Forksolin, available at Walgreen's. However, there are probably other brands at natural grocers or on amazon that are more reliable. It's been popularized as a weightloss supplement, but I didn't see any serious results or side effects in that realm. It's also used in the CILTEP stack sold by natural stacks, though in much smaller doses. CILTEP
I'll give the CoQSol-CF a shot for sure. Agmatine I like to experience throughout the day, because I believe I read it lasts for about 12 hours. Without it I'd just spiral into depression so it's not ideal. I also like taking it with caffeine because it balances out the vasoconstriction and therefore decreases the amount of migraines I get as well as inflammation.
I source my cali poppy from https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PTBPL7W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
With tea I use about 2 tablespoons, and more if I want more of an effect. Honestly smoking it seems to do a better job, but I don't like smoking that much.
I also have no idea what the heavy metal content is of it, but haven't cared so much because of how little I use it. I just suggest trying it from that source in particular because it's cut and sifted and of course amazon is a little more trust worthy.
It's up on our Amazon store for now, until we get bank approval for the main site. That's how we are going to release new things before our bank gives us the okay.
