This isn't so much reassurance seeking as it is looking for a solution to a very real problem finding treatment. If absolutely can't change your living circumstance, then I second the recommendation by Rusted_Metal: find books and other resources on CBT that work for you. A classic that is very often recommended is "The OCD Workbook" (https://www.amazon.com/OCD-Workbook-Breaking-Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder/dp/1572249218/).
Medication will help tamp down your symptoms overall, but CBT especially when coupled with Exposure Response Prevention therapy has a fantastic rate of putting the disease into remission.
The treatment for BFRBS is Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment.
I’m currently reading the book Break Free From OCD and one chapter talks about triggers/causes of OCD.
The book says that people who have experienced a big amount of responsibility in the past such as having distant parents, looking after children etc can become more likely to develop OCD as they obsess over preventing more harm and feel responsible for that prevention.
It also mentions people who are typically perfectionists, although OCD is much more than that it can contribute to developing OCD.
Unfortunately I don’t have actual sources for those statements, I’d have to check the book but it’s worth a read.
