As others have said, hiring a bicycle might help a lot, especially when you can get buses to remote places but then you'll have to hike for a day at least to get even more remote or hit the coast.
If you can rent a bike or even buy one, look at this https://www.gumtree.com/p/bicycles/mans-towntouring-bike/1274348812 £75 ready to roll, thats 4 days hire but you own it.... Just strap your backpack on to the pannier, take a tiny 10L backpack ti put your food and stuff in and off you go.
The reason getting a bike would help is you can cycle from Inverness to Applecross in say 8 hours, then you can cycle over the Bealach Na Ba (highest road in Britain). You can cycle up the west coast, head in to torridon, hike, camp, whatever.
These places can be accessed by a bus, but they'll only take you on one main road, not down the beautiful places that exist beyond them. For instance, you can get to Torridon on the bus from Inverness for like £8 and then on to Gairloch after it. But it takes hours, maybe even 2 days hike to get to a lovely remote spot, hike a specific mountain etc. Say you wanted to go to Opinan beach near Gairloch, with a bicycle you can choose to go there, it will be just 30mins cycle ride from Gairloch, compared to a 4hour hike (one way)....
I'm not likely to be in the hut to check until later in the week but it's this style of boat with different branding.
I wouldn't recommend it if your main goal is flat water but it's a great river runner.
Not got it myself, but the cicerone guidebooks are very good for walking. I've got a wild guides book which covers all of Scotland which has things to do/eat and places to sleep.
The Mountain Leader handbook is a good guide, which is used for the syllabus of the ML qualification. There’s also a more detailed navigation book. If you provided more context on what your plans were, you could get more specific advice tailored to your activities.
Cotswolds is ok but not that cheap and with a small selection, use it for smaller basic items. Gumtree however will get you a sack for £40 or less, and is good for tents too, vango are good. Check this. Basically try and get second hand everything, then build up and improve over the years as you go. You could spend the whole lot on one tent right now! Then get out there on practise runs before WHW.
Edit: Jacket can be a cheap WP shell over layers if not sitting still for long periods. Always go for nylon or polyester over cotton as it dries better, this being scotland.
If you're talking about the last two questions with the tables I totally agree. Almost did the same thing.
OP you might try typeform if you want to get a getter completion rate - https://www.typeform.com/
You do the best you can with what you've got. It's not a concrete desert there you know...
Cant get it on the telly app but here's it online:

Most of those pubs are on the list, the Ice Bar sounds like a right good spot.

On the Boots, did you find you needed full ankle protection that the Scarpa ones had? I tried a pair of these Keen ones and really liked them, just needed a half size up. KEEN Men's Explore Mid, Imperméable High Rise Hiking Boots, Braun Canteen Brindle 205, 9 UK: Amazon.co.uk: Shoes & Bags they are only a mid rise though, but ankle felt strong in them.
Hi!
Thanks for taking the time to answer me, and for the insight about how big this question really is. Here is what I gathered from all of my reseraches, which correlates with your message:
We will start with the West Highland Way (8 days), then take the (Harry Potter,AH !) train from Fort William to Mallaig in order to catch a ferry to Skye island in Armadale.
I found a guy that made an 8 days hike from Armadale to Duntulum! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Long-Walk-Isle-Skye-75-mile/dp/0952190842
It looks like the perfect mix of landscapes, do you have any red flag about such an itinerary ?
Thanks!
