I would be extremely wary about using a dummy battery to external power source adapter in this camera. I’m not sure if you found my post, but I posted this past summer on how I fried my camera using one of those adapters. It worked great for a little while but then one day my camera wouldn’t turn on, and on sending it in for repair it was discovered that the power circuitry had been cooked. It ended up costing me over $300 to fix.
In all honesty you could use one of these adapters for months and be 100% fine, but it’s a pretty strong eventuality that it’ll end up damaging the camera at some point. I’d recommend buying a bunch of 3rd party batteries instead. They won’t damage the camera and they’re crazy cheap right now, $19 on amazon for a two pack. After fixing my camera I’d used 6 of these all the time with no problems at all, until I eventually sold the camera to help fund an upgrade to a Sony a6500. It’s a fantastic camera though don’t get me wrong.
Powerextra 2 Pack for Panasonic G7
Hopefully this helps point you in the right direction :)
You can't do this in-camera. It can be done on the computer; if you have Linux or a Mac (or Windows with Cygwin or MinGW or MSYS2 or Linux-on-Windows Subsystem or something like that) you can do it with this ugly one-liner I just wrote at a Bash prompt from the directory where the files are stored:
CNT=0; for IMAGE in P*.JPG; do NEWNAME="$(stat -c '%z' "$X" | cut -d. -f1 | tr ':' '-' | tr ' ' '')"; test -e "$NEWNAME" && NEWNAME="${NEWNAME}$CNT" && CNT=$((CNT + 1)); mv "$IMAGE" "${NEWNAME}.JPG"; done
It will not overwrite files that have the exact same change time because the CNT index is appended for collisions and incremented on each use.
Edit: I'm pretty sure you can use IrfanView's batch processing to do bulk renaming for this too.
If you look at this price history chart for the G7 from June 2015 to the present, you will see that these price drops are always temporary - with the price returning to $797.99 after a few weeks.
Don't know how long the current sale will last - but it won't be forever.
Good luck!
HAHA. That is awesome to me. I've always been a big believer in using video editing software to do that because, well, it works. I'm a video guy, so I totally get that, but it's like using a flame thrower to light a candle.
Not a gimp user so I can't help you there, but have you heard of https://rawtherapee.com/? I used many years ago so can't speak on it's modern functionality, but it's probably less of a flamethrower approach to the issue.
Found https://www.darktable.org/ too, but no experience with it.
/u/dzabarte - the G7's Amazon US price history chart shows a pattern of repeated markdowns with brief returns to the $797.99 suggested retail price.
I recommend you go ahead and pull the trigger on a US model with a warranty from an authorized dealer - bundled with the kit lens, a case and a 32GB SD card for $597.99.
It could just as easily go back up to $797 as go down to $497.
Hope this is helpful and good luck getting the best price!
I currently use this one.
I really like and it's well made for the price but I carry a ton of crap with me. Something more in line with what you're looking for that I've been wanting to try is the Thinktank mirrorless mover series.
Sadly, XLR output from pro mics is mono. That said, I get two channel audio from my XLR mics with a Hosa MIT-156 impedance matching/XLR to 3.5mm stereo adapter cable, as pictured here.
The Hosa matches the pro mic's impedance to your camera and splits the mono XLR signal into a two channel output.
Thanks for the feedback. I ended up going with these things. VERY cheap quality, but they get the job done.

They go on sale rather commonly, just a few weeks ago they were all on sale for ~$600. Amazon actually has the silver version right now for the same price, so if you're okay with the colour, I'd jump on that if I were you.
You can rade it in at Amazon for currently $476 (can change and depending on condition) https://www.amazon.com/PANASONIC-Mirrorless-14-42mm-Megapixels-DMC-G7KK/dp/B00X409PQS/ref=sr_1_3?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1510416785&sr=1-3&keywords=panasonic+g7
I believe it was this one I got on Amazon
I would go and get a quality fluid head tripod before getting a Gimbal. Amazon has a refurb. Manfrotto pair of sticks and head for 118$ (https://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-MK290XTA3-2WUS-Fluid-Video-Black/dp/B013JS86SW/ref=sr_1_36?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1518150213&sr=1-36&keywords=fluid+head), which is a great refurb deal.
If you seriously need a gimbal, you can also get a cheap steadicam which can give you smooth results. It's a pain to set up in a pinch, but it will get you smooth shots. Also, do you not need a microphone?
/u/trickierstinky - if you're a still photographer, I recommend the G9. Its 20.3 MP sensor plus the 80 MP high resolution mode make it pretty much the king of stills in the micro 4/3 format.
The G85/G80 will have the same resolution limitations as the G7.
You can get one used for as low as $1529 via Amazon, if you're in the States. Harder to find them used elsewhere.
Hope this is helpful!
Ordered this one on Amazon. It's great! Lasted me about 3 years, good fluid head, very stable, comes with carrying case!

The lens in that video is a fully manual / MFT adapted Rokinon 85mm F1.4 - you can find it here!
Picked that up about 2 weeks ago and have been getting some great shots with it so far: https://imgur.com/a/55JGB02
no worries. if you're looking for a budget into to macro stuff, then check out macro tubes - https://www.amazon.com.au/Fotodiox-Extension-Mirrorless-Close-up-Photography/dp/B0054EPPZM - they let you use your existing lenses, and let them focus closer to allow you to do macro stuff.
pretty sure I made a video on them too which you should be able to find. hope that helps.
I bought this one last year and so far, I love it. You'll need to take some time to plan out how you want to position the velcro dividers based on your equipment, but it's fully customizable.
Here's what I shove into this bad boy:
And that's just the main compartment.
In the top pouch I have my memory cards and camera batteries, USB drives. A couple of sharpies. 2 lavalier mics.
Mid pouch I put all the cleaning supplies
And then the back pouch holds my laptop and portable monitor.
I can put my full tripod in the side pocket and strap it in, although I usually leave the tripod in the car because the gimbal works as a tripod with the monopod and grip (the grip opens up to form 3 feet). So I usually keep the gimbal in that side pocket with the camera mounted. The gimbal can fit inside the bag, but only if I collapse it, which means that I have to rebalance the thing every time I take it out. So, I only pack it inside the bag for flights, set it up when I arrive, and then keep it in the side pocket when not in use.
I have the Neewer Flexible Partition Camera bag, it works really well for me and I’m able to customise the inside to fit what I need. In my case I can fit a dji mavic mini 2 with controller and batteries plus the g7 and still have room for an osmo mobile.

The gorilla pod is a good on the fly solution but its still pretty shaky with a good grip. Some of the first tripods I had were the real basic amazon basics but I hated the grip head and how tiny the handles were - I was lucky to have a decent tripod from my dad, a manfrotto that did great in my highschool and college years. Browsing amazon further - I see this one is pretty close to the tripod I got the most work out of, its a sturdier build than the basics and is pretty versatile!

For a toddler, you need to be shooting at 1/200 or faster. If indoors, an off camera flash in the hot shoe mount pointing at the ceiling will do the trick. I liked this one. https://www.amazon.com/Godox-Speedlite-Panasonic-Mirrorless-EACHSHOT/dp/B071LGX6ZC/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=godox+flash+panasonic+lumix&qid=1646069527&sprefix=godox+flash+pana%2Caps%2C59&sr=8-3
Command line cutting of video is a pain in the ass. Most video editing types aren't going to go through that, even if someone else writes helper scripts for them. As for VirtualDub not supporting MPEG-4, FccHandler's QuickTime plugin will natively read MPEG-4 containers without a hitch and allow direct stream copy to AVI. Pretty much anything you'd ever need can be read into VirtualDub with FccHandler's various plugins.
Hi u/Jolly-Caregiver7249 - if you want a G7, you can get one used for £349.99 on Amazon UK. [Referral]
Hope this is helpful!
Preamps on consumer DSLRs are notoriously terrible.
If you're going to record into camera you're best bet is to boost the gain externally so that you can turn down the gain in camera and take care of the noise.
I don't record in camera, but I do have a mid-level mic that is similarly pretty terrible without a clean boost in gain, so I purchased one of these.

Tried them previously, to be honest many of them are just slight tweaks that other free LUTs can give you. Didn't get anything that I would consider complete.
If you are looking for a few decent looks to tweak there is this pack - https://sellfy.com/p/UcPD/
Sorry to hear that. I've been recommending it for the BMPCC, but will make sure to include a caveat telling people not to try it with the G7.
I still have high hopes for the very similar HG3D, which advertises compatibility with the GH4.
I bought one a month ago, but haven't had time to put it together, so it is still sitting in pieces in the closet :(
I will report back when I have put it together.

And I use a 15” usb-c flat screen as the screen getting mirrored. Does wonders!
Risking with face recognition, you mean? I'm using DJI Ronin SC. I've only gone to a few weddings so I still need to try out the different settings.
Unfortunately not, unless you want to get a mirror lens like this: https://www.amazon.com/Lightdow-Telephoto-Panasonic-Mirrorless-Digitial/dp/B07P2LB2Y8?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_marketplace Or this : https://www.amazon.com/Lightdow-Telephoto-Panasonic-Mirrorless-Digitial/dp/B07NZ4H34N?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_marketplace They are cheap, but soft and they don't let in a lot of light

Nope. You need a U3 card. I recommend the SD extreme Pro or the Samsung EVO select ones. That one you linked to is a U1.
I have used both of these to record long 4k shots with zero issues.
If you're set on capture cards, searching "USB HDMI capture cards" on Amazon usually yields a bunch of cheap ones ($10). I use a $50 one like this (currently on sale for 30 something), which is fine for my purposes (I'm not using it for gaming). I can't remember if the G7 has a mini-HDMi out, but I don't see why that wouldn't work (mini-HDMI to HDMI)
Hmmm would something like https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Adapter-Mount-Camera-NEX-VG10/dp/B01HGDFTUO/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=m42+mount&qid=1606322480&sr=8-3 work then? Also, speedboosters seem super pricey and I'm not sure if I can afford one right now. Do you think I'd be able to survive without one or is it essential?
The lens is a 35mm F1.7 CCTV Lens that I picked up for $27.00 from Amazon. It is about as long as my thumb, and takes some fantastic pictures. Link for those who want to check it out: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FDH1UO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That's what I'm using in my GH5. They'll work fine, but they're overkill. The G7 can't take advantage of of the UHS-II interface. I've had good look with PNY U3 rated cards in my G7 and they're significantly cheaper.

In general, you need something that's U3 or V30 rated from a reliable brand. Buy from B&H, Adorama, or another reputable store if you can, eBay and Amazon have a lot of sellers with fake cards.
As far as brands go, I haven't had an issue with PNY, Sony, or Samsung cards, but I've had a couple of Sandisk cards fail. They were purchased through amazon, from Amazon, but it's possible counterfeit cards ended up in the pipeline regardless.

I just bought this on Amazon for around $40. It seems to have good reviews.
I recommend getting a tripod with a fluid head. It lets you make very natural tilting and panning movements much easier.
This is a bit heavy, maybe too heavy for you since you're using a G7, but it's worked very well for me.

Have to say the Rode Video Micro! I've had it the longest out of everything here. Perfect size and weight for the g7 and the quality is better than you'd expect.
Honorable mention to this cold shoe extender, I use it to have both the mic and small LED light on the camera. I've even managed to hold a portable battery in the middle of it.

If you're in the UK.
You could get this
This seems like a pretty good deal, only issue there isn't a microphone port.
You could always use a tascam or something else for recording audio.
Edited some test footage into a short vid. Trying out the G7 as well as the Rode VideoMicro and this lav mic from Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07DPQJQ2L/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_WpbtEbFQ3GPFM. The image quality is great but I did not realize how horrible the autofocus is when shooting 4K. 1080p is worlds better. Let me know if there are any tricks to getting the autofocus to behave, I've tried everything. Also let me know if u like the vid
If you're looking for something to take out into the field, I'd recommend the Lowepro Passport Sling III (Amazon Link). Inexpensive, comfy, easy to get into, and doesn't just look like a camera bag (less of a theft risk in some scenarios). It can easily hold all the gear you listed with a bit of room for later on when you're carrying multiple lenses.
I have the amazon basics camera bag. Suits my needs just fine. I carry 2 lenses, battery grip, extra batteries, and a Joby trip pod. I could fit more if I needed to.

Oh nice - Viltrox for the S1? No, i actually shelled out for what i thought would be the "good" L-mount to Nikon adapter from Fotodiox (https://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Nikkor-G-Type-Mirrorless-NikG-LT-Pro/dp/B075RDMC1T/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=fotodiox+nikon+leica&qid=1568846046&s=electronics&sr=1-2) and it had play when i first mounted it, and after two shoots, it was literally falling apart. So i returned it. I'm using a cheap $15 Fotasy one right now, and it's fine, but doesn't have aperture control. The only other cheap ones with aperture control are from china, so i have a little $20 one on the way that i can control my 11-20mm Tokina aperture with.
I know what you mean. I’ve read and seen those same things. I ended up ordering some counterweights that Zhiyun actually makes now. I’ll update or reply once I receive and try them out. Here’s the link if interested: Zhiyun counterweights
I've got the USB adaptor variant for my G7. I Plug the usb cables into my keyboard/pc/powerbank and it provides enough power for the camera. https://www.amazon.com.au/DMW-DCC8-DMW-BLC12-Panasonic-DMC-FZ200-DMC-FZ1000/dp/B076HXNV69
Thanks for this, apologies in advance for my lack of knowledge haha. I’ve found this one, which looks like it’ll be a better fit: Lexar Professional 1000 x 128GB SDXC UHS-II/U3 Card (Up to 150MB/s read) LSD128CRBNA1000 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PLENZPC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_952PCbQRWFG65
A field monitor would be the way to go since you'd be plugging in directly via HDMI. The Panasonic app is good but not great since it's low bandwidth so you're not seeing a sharp image.
I ordered this one this past week. It's the least expensive field monitor I could find with a high resolution. Initial tests were good. Going to continue testing over the weekend. It's a steal for $89.00 with the coupon.
Edit: Well it seems like it just sold out. While I was posting this comment it showed one left in stock. There are others in the low to mid $100 price range. Might be worth checking out. Here's one I've had on my Amazon list for a while which I was saving up for as well.
I suggest checking out the "Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Wide Angle Lens."
I've been watching a bunch of videos on it and have been impressed with what I've been seeing.
Found a similar one on amazon for $86 and it comes with the rails + top handle. Depending on where you buy theyll be made by companies like Weihe, Yelangu, Viltrox. I suggest the form-fitting smallrig one though if you have the extra $$ to spend.
You need a dummy battery and AC adapter to per it from the wall. I haven't used this one, so this isn't a recommendation, just an example:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D69P0UG
You will need something similar for the G85 or GH4. One announce is, unlike a camcorder or proper ENG type camera the DSLR style cameras can only get per from one source at a time. I use a camcorder for event videography that's plugged into the wall and has a battery mounted, if somebody unplugs the power it'll switch to battery automatically. Not a deal killer, just be aware that you can't use a battery and be plugged in to the wall at the same time.
I watched a dozen videos on Youtube connecting the Follow Focus to see if anyone mentioned what to do about the extra short cable, and they all conveniently show connecting to Sony/Canon cameras which came with long cables bundled with the Crane 2. A lot of the cables/extensions on Amazon are either too long to be convenient or like $25 for a little cable. Any better solutions?
That's funny, I had just found the smaller version of that bag and the interior dimensions are perfect for the setup. Unfortunately, it's big enough, that it would count as my personal item when taking it on an airplane. So I might just be stuck using a camera cube and removing the lens and mic. I might also just go for the backpack that you linked to, then I can pack other things in it and use it for travel too.
Have you seen this Lowepro Tahoe? It's a similar setup, but is probably better quality than the amazonbasics?
Heh.
As someone who read this thread after picking up a cheap ($20) variable ND lens, this image makes a lot of sense. I was toying around with long exposures for the first time and I was wondering why I saw those weird patterns and whatnot. It wasn't entirely consistent so fortunately it was a bit better towards the ends of the spectrum, but there wasn't really a nice middle ground. If I ever get more serious about needing a ND filter, I'll definitely be getting a higher quality one.
Filter for reference: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009GFW1C0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Glad you found it useful. In addition to IBIS, the GH5 has a splash and dust-proof sealed body, unlimited recording time at 4K (no 30 minute limit) and live video out to a monitor or external recorder via HDMI while you're recording internally.
One thought - $897.99 for the camera with the kit lens is a sale price, so you may want to pull the trigger soon.
Again, hope this is helpful!
a variable nd filter so you can change the darkness of it https://www.amazon.com/Concept-Variable-ND2-ND400-Adjustable-100-300mm/dp/B00JL4IN50/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1517965808&sr=8-3&keywords=variable+nd+filter
You can get a $10-$15 adapter and use canon fd or Minolta rokkor lenses. These vintage lenses can be bought pretty cheap on eBay.
The cheapest option would be this, Fotasy M2514 25MM F1.4 TV Movie Lens and Lens Adapter Kit for Olympus Panasonic MFT Micro 4/3 M43 Cameras https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004WIMB9E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_uX0IAbGGKD8Z3. It’s a 25mm cctv lens, so you’ll get the same field of view is as the 25 1.7. I know it’s pretty easy to have issues with these lenses and adapters though. It is only $32.
I'm speculating here, but you'd likely have a better experience with a newer-made manual focus lens than adapting one of the vintage screw mounts. Here's one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073F52N4W/
No AF, and probably less sharp than the Panny, but it's the same focal length that you want with practically the same max aperture.
I've wanted to get into correction and grading for a while now, so I figured I'd try it. However, I've heard before that you want to shoot as flat as possible, so that when you're in post, it's as exploitable as possible, right? That's what I was going for with the Natural profile.
Yeah, the whole aperture 22 thing was because 1) I already had my ISO as low as it could go (200), 2) I wanted to stick to the shutter speed/fps rule, and 3) the only thing left to adjust was the aperture. At anywhere under like 18 aperture, I was overexposing a lot, so I thought that was my only option, to adjust aperture.
I've heard of ND filters before and I've seen some before/afters, they actually look quite brilliant. Is this one fine? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009GFW1C0/
I have the Olympus M. 40-150mm F4.0-5.6 R Zoom Lens and it works well for long distance shots but it is unstabilized like the 25mm. I enjoy using it when I can use my tripod or a monopod.

I bought this remote, and it works perfectly. Requires AAA batteries for both pieces. Works in photo and video mode.
I'm still researching a follow focus.
>Are there any cheaper alternatives that offer close to the same capabilities or looks.
Nope. Quality cost money. Just no way around it. Best you can hope for is the 14-35mm.
Some might try and steer you towards C-mounts, I would advise against it.
I also found a cheaper battery plate. You'll just have to figure out connecting it. I'd just get a coldshoe to 1/4" adapter and put it on that.
Not sure about the power adapter there, but here are some pretty beefy batteries with the same voltage as the G7's batteries. https://www.amazon.com/DSTE-MVC-CD1000-DCR-VX2100E-DSR-PD190P-NEX-FS700RH/dp/B00M3P9YAC/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1512127859&sr=1-4&keywords=np-f+battery
For video, I say you get the kit, a decent entry-level tripod (something like this) and spend the rest on audio. A microphone and maybe a recorder will go a long way to improving your production quality, much more so than a cheap steadicam.
Thanks! That was helpful, so are you using arca swiss plate for yours? would this serve the same purpose do you think?
You are correct, they are from a single youtuber, and he did mention the possibility of a 'quality control' issue on his unit. It may be that the other issues were also defects, and he just did not know it. Thank you for your help!

I've been looking into grabbing this for a while, and had a bundle package for it in my amazon cart for a few weeks at $800, just noticed today it dropped to $540: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Y11220K/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A36DL6WLK2RE7O
What do you guys think about this bundle? (Specifically for someone just getting into photography/video)
Sadly, I didn't shoot these examples - that said, I use a K&F Concept Canon FD to Micro 4/3 adapter with my Panasonic cameras.
I've used these for 2+ years with no issues.
Yes, that's a good deal, but I'd get the same kit with the black version of the camera. They generally have higher resale value.
Good luck with your short film!

The previous 67 inch may not ever come back in stock, because AmazonBasics has a new listing for a 67" tripod.
No idea if it's the same one as the previous listing, but it is in stock for $75.
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-67-Inch-Video-Camera-Tripod/dp/B01LW14QNB
Thanks for your reply, I'll definitely look into getting my hands on one of those bags - they look like great value for money! I don't plan on doing any (at least for now) long exposure shots, actually I normally prefer to take stills handheld: I need the tripod for outside video, the most I'll probably need to compete with is a breeze and maybe some very mild vibrations from sound. I'm having difficulty with finding one because I'm not sure how to judge/compare different models, but I'd be willing to spend up to £50/$65 and I certainly don't mind buying used. From what I've researched, I think I want an aluminum, ball head tripod; this tripod, again from AmazonBasics, looks good to me but it has a centre post which I've read is bad for stabilisation (?), I might just be asking for too much with my budget though. Sorry for the rambly post, any further advice you might have is most welcome :)
The kit lens is good. I still use it in certain situations because it is versatile and it's not the end of the world if it gets broken. You're probably going to want something that's better in low light though.
I HIGHLY recommend getting the Panasonic 25mm f/1.7. It's a fantastic little lens and it's not too pricey as far as lenses go.
You're definitely going to want a tripod that is heavier duty than that, as well as a fluid head. And get yourself some kind of stabilizing solution for when you go handheld, even if it's just a cheap handle or something like that.
I haven't tested it myself, but this looks cool: https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Monopod-Including-Carrying-Camcorder/dp/B01IBI2SH0/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1498836830&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=fluid+head+tripod&psc=1
I like it because you get a monopod as well, which is super handy and the fluid head has a flat base, which many budget fluid head tripods lack. A flat base means you can put it on a slider or other rig later.
As per usual, tripods are a bad place to save money since they will outlast nearly every other piece of gear you ever own, it's worth buying the best, crying once, and then having a kickass tripod forever.
As far as stabilization goes, I suggest just using the monopod or looking at the Zhiyun CraneM if you have a light enough lens. I kind of hate glidecams (too fiddly) and shoulder rigs (don't actually help much).
I bought this slider a few years ago and, though it isn't perfect (I still have to run the footage through a warp stabilizer), it absolutely gets the job done.
I use this manfrotto fluid head which has been excellent. I did have to get a [3/8" to 1/4" converter](Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing) since the tripod head has different threading, but it's a cheap fix.
Those L brackets are more useful if you're handholding with it. The problem with mounting them on a tripod is that it's hard to tighten it to a tripod plate enough to where it won't move when placed on the tripod. The heavier the load is, the harder it gets. Maybe something like this might work better mounted on the top show of the G7:

I purchased these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MEAMBDI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They came with a car charger adapter, and they will show the battery life in the camera properly. They do not last as long as the stock battery, but the price is great for two.
Yeah I went down that rabbit hole of setup videos as well. Sometimes learning what other cameras CAN do will help you understand yours better. Some cameras have LOG in-camera; a few Sonys and I think the GH5 will also. RAW is limited to Blackmagic cameras, hacked Canons, and the upper level pro cameras. I'm sure that I'm missing some... but you get the point.
There is a great book on color that I highly recommend: Color Correction Handbook
It reads like a textbook so it can take a little while, but if theory and practical tips are what you want I don't think any online video will be of more help.
You can get a Konica AR to MFT adapter for $11.59 - but I agree with /u/yaranaika_megaman2, you should not put a lens with fungus growth on your camera.
I went with this SD card: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PLENZX4 it seems to be faster than the cards listed, would the cause an issue? I'm currently using a Samsung Pro MicroSD from my GoPro (w/adapter) but wanted a 2nd card. I will mostly be using the camera for video.
I've been extremely impressed with this bag: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CF5OHZ2
Fits my GX85 with a lens on it, 2 extra lenses, full size flash and wireless links, misc filters and cables, and an extra wrist strap, with room left over.
The smaller size might be good if you just want to carry the camera and a lens.
My audio is only coming through the left channel even though my special mic settings are set to "stereo". I figured it was because of the lavs. These are what I'm working with: Premium 196" Dual-head Lavalier Microphone, Professional Lapel Clip-on Omnidirectional Condenser Mic For Apple IPhone,Android,PC,DSLR,Recording Youtube,Interview,Video Conference,Podcast - FREE BONUS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HOCXLOS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xUBAybP6TKBBY
I've been watching a lot of videos on the smartlav, seems really awesome. I'm thinking that I might go for an external recorder so I can run the audio through a pre amp, and eventually pick up the smartlav. These are the lavs I'm working with now: Premium 196" Dual-head Lavalier Microphone, Professional Lapel Clip-on Omnidirectional Condenser Mic For Apple IPhone,Android,PC,DSLR,Recording Youtube,Interview,Video Conference,Podcast - FREE BONUS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HOCXLOS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xUBAybP6TKBBY
Sadly, that is a 4 pole TRRS mic for phones and it won't work with a standard 3 pole TRS camera input (unless you're using it with the adapter shown in the picture?)
If the adapter doesn't work, you'll need a mic with a 3 pole TRS stereo plug like this $39.95 Movo dual capsule lavalier with a 3.5mm TRS output that is designed to work with cameras and recorders - without an adapter.
Again, hope this is helpful!
Yes, when budget permits, you could plug two of the Movo dual capsule mics into a $49.95 Saramonic AX100 Audio Adapter/Mixer and record up to four people.
/u/write2prateeksharma - I recommend the $79.99 Meike MK320 (reviewed here).
This is a compact TTL flash with tilt & swivel, an LCD control panel, USB charging (!) and a built-in LED video light. A very good value for your money.
Hope this is helpful and close to what you're looking for!
You mention photography and not video, so I assume you want a speedlight rather than a constant LED panel.
There aren't too many options for speedlights that are compatible with Panasonic TTL. I was able to get a Panasonic DMW FL360L off eBay new in box for only $150. Looking on Amazon, your cheapest option would be the Neewer NW320 @ $80. Amazon
I think this is what I'm going to do! Thank you! These are the lavs I've been messing with: Premium 196" Dual-head Lavalier Microphone, Professional Lapel Clip-on Omnidirectional Condenser Mic For Apple IPhone,Android,PC,DSLR,Recording Youtube,Interview,Video Conference,Podcast - FREE BONUS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HOCXLOS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xUBAybP6TKBBY
They seem to only record mono, as I'm only getting sound in the left channel even when the camera setting is on "stereo". So I might pick up a smartlav eventually to use with the tascam. Down the road I'll need to mic up more than just two people, do you have any recommendations for that? A bunch of lavs or a shotgun mic? Sorry for all of the questions, I'm a super n00b.
Nice work, thanks for sharing.
I'm a big fan of the $229.99 Meike 12mm f2.8 for the same reasons - not quite as fast, but it costs a little less.
