> The term Orthodox (at least in the Western world) seems to draw a great deal or respect
On the contrary it is associated with Orthodox jews who are a little out of this world https://www.huffpost.com/entry/orthodox-jew-flies-plane-huge-plastic-bag-photo_n_3064473 and Orthodox Christians like the westboro baptist church who are just crazy people.
Orthodox to me means without critical thinking and just straight literal reading.
For example the Christian flood can be read literally as a real flood that covered the earth with 5 miles of water for a year killing everything and all plants while the Egyptians and Chinese did not notice OR it can be read as an allegory or moral homily and seen as a story or starting over, redemption.
Orthodox tend to block the critical thinking skills of their brain and reject anything that may conflict with their reading. Also they are much more aggressive and intolerant.
I personally associate Wahhabism as being Orthodox. But that is just my opinion as I dislike Wahhabism and think it does more damage than it helps. Orthodox to me implies rigidity and no possibility of wiggle room. It leads to problems and interpretations.
but that is just my opinion
Don't let the cheap look fool you, Emerick knows his stuff and his Qur'an translation is quite good. I have no personally read the version for kids, but it does have good reviews on Amazon, and again - Emerick is a solid guy who does solid work.
And that awkward moment when you realize that sectarian scholars are fraud. Not a single one has any clue about this: https://www.slideshare.net/kingabid/symmetric-book-noble-quran
Have they decided what mutawatir actually means? Apparently, they have disagreement about that also.
Some Quranists have the misconception that the word "Hadith" in this verse refers exclusively to the Hadith corpus that evolved in the centuries after Muhammad's death.
(45:6) These are God's signs that We recite to you truthfully. Then in which Hadeeth besides God and His signs would they believe?
But it refers to any Hadith that is used as a source of religion besides the Signs of God.
For example, this guy is an ignorant who puts out hours and hours of extra-Quranic videos and books. He was a computer engineer by education, an IT field dropout with no training or knowledge in the fields he is making videos and writing books about- namely lingustics, history and astronomy, and an absurd, irrational conspiracy theorist of the QAnon genre that social media has given a platform for. All the extra-Quranic lies that he concocts and attributes to God are also "Hadith besides God and His verses". Hadith is not restricted to Bukhari. Following the Quran alone, means we just read the Quran, and the meaning would already be clear and well known, without reading volumes of Bukhari or Ibn Kathir or Said Mirza or XYZ.
The same guy "published" this book: Cosmology of the Qur'an: The Seven Skies and the Fixed Ground, where totally ignorant of basic geography and astronomy, he promotes flat earthism, inspired by his mentor and teacher Sam Gerrans.
Coming to your question, Hadith fabrication did not stop in the 11th century CE. It is continuing to this day in real time.

If you still believe the story of Lut is about homosexuality after this evidence then you are homophobic.
Story of Lot has nothing to do with homosexuality. Even many Jews and Christian’s agree on this. Thankfully society is marching forwards with LGBTQIA+ rights and friendly religious interpretations.
When I say my readings lead me to believe that it is not forbidden, this is what I mean. The story of Lot is the one that forms the basis of the other opinion, and the full context of Sodom and Gomorrah (if we use the biblical names for the towns) is obvious about the actual crime of the sodomites being something much worse than mere homosexuality.
It's a story about rape. The rape of angels.

I've been studying Islam a lot from a historical-critical perspective, and a Quran-only approach seemed like the most authentic way to practice Islam to me, so I've been looking for a sub like this for a while. I've just started reading the Quran now that I feel like I have enough background knowledge, so forgive my ignorance, but would you mind telling me how many of the beliefs you listed have a basis in the Quran rather than the hadith?
Also, from my reading/listening I've found that, especially in the case of converts, women tend to be more informed on Islam then their male partners and lead them to more radical beliefs. Whether they're just repeating what they heard on forums or have actually done a lot of study themselves depends on the person, I suppose. Here is an interview with the author of A Tale of Two Faiths on the subject — it's an atheist podcast, but the focus is on her experience with ultra-conservative Muslim women's groups and how they influenced their husbands.
There are also some episodes on New books in Islamic studies on the subject, as well as how women are often the ones to convince their partners to take another wife.
I'm a complete outsider, so take it with a grain of salt, of course. :)
> I don’t have an account there. Stop making excuses for your backbiting. Did you get embarrassed? Or do you have no shame?
Definition of “backbiting” - English Dictionary unpleasant or unkind remarks made about a person who is not present https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/backbiting
You were present.
>You assumed I didn’t go to the masjid and said my practices are wrong and harass and insult me for it
Masjid what???
>Your views on polygamy and wife striking are wrong and you get emotional about my views (typical) and so you harass me here.
I'll post this on our free-mind thread. This is getting funnier.
>You claimed that advocating fornication is akin to rape. You’re insane and delusional.
Rule breaking begins. Let me know when to ban you.
>There are talkers and there are doers. Free-Minds and yourself as well as most of the Quranist sectarians are talkers. This leads us nowhere.
Wait, backbiting now about free-minds...and "quranists" ?
>You’re abusing the Quran for your emotional outbursts, hate and sectarianism.
Not helping you.
>You got called out for backbiting. Stop making excuses. You’re paranoid and delusional.
But somehow you have been spending hours trying to post the same thing again and again and getting it removed by the bot.
Videos are a horrible way to present material for a serious student. I could read a transcript in a fraction of the time. The first video locked up my tablet. I sitting under a punk, overloaded router. I am very familiar with the topic, so if there are any questions, I will answer if I can.
There is a book. Theoretically, there is a $10 Kindle version.

Saleem's organization:

This is serious business. His staff, according to the article, was assassinated.
This topic? Firstly, I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you go through it all it is quite a uselss subject to study
But if you must, then just start with a basic primer. This is as good as any to start with I suppose;

Well the certainty you had once isn't what you should be trying to get back because it was a "certainty" based on a mixture of falsehood and truth.
The real certainty springs out from the heart as it gets purified and intuitive and spiritual knowledge enters it.
Intellectualism can only take you so far in terms of certainty and deep faith. Because that certainty lives in the heart not the mind. The limiting factor becomes the state of the heart. So the next part if the journey is a spiritual journey
A very short book I highly recommend to understand this and give you an over you is Degrees of the Soul

You are right, there is antisemitism found in Hadith.
But here is a source for you, without any antisemitism.

I'm not interested in what he was planning to do. I am interested in Umar disobeying him despite Quran 24:51
Kitaab in higher Arabic refers to something permanent, closed. These qiraat were not even around then. See Shady Hekmat Nasser's book on it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Transmission-Variant-Readings-Qurn-2012-11-09/dp/B01A1NFG54/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=shady+hekmat+nasser&qid=1600849144&sr=8-1
There's also another reason why Muhammad died. Please see Qur'an 69:40-47
