I don't think you should feel stupid. It's an annoying situation, and they haven't made it easy to get around it. Changing your country/location on youtube won't do the trick because Youtube can still tell where your computer is physically located from your IP address.
Which is why you'll need to use a VPN that will essentially give your computer a public IP address from one of the countries where REOL's channel isn't blocked (they're blocked in Australia, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, and the USA).
The problem is that many of the free VPNs are kinda sketchy so to get good speeds/security you'll need to pay for one. You can probably find a free one that'll work (I've used Hotspot Shield in the past) just be wary of them.
Shoku wouldn't be incorrect normally, but since there's an official transliteration, it is in this case.
jisho.org lists ごくさいしょく (gokusaishoku) as irregular kana usage, so it's still correct, only unusual.
