We have a Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 that we're very happy with
https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-NS-ZCC10-Uncooked-Premium-1-0-Liter/dp/B00007J5U7
It's available on Amazon (US) immediately, but I just found out that it's not cheap ($190)
I did a lot of research before finding my rice cooker. I wasn't sold on the idea that it was so great and so I wanted a small one that wasn't too much money.
I got an Oster one and it's lasted two years without any complaints and regular usage. I got it from Amazon. This is the one right here.
Im sure you can find it at Asian supermarkets and even Whole Foods. You can also get it online; I got my bag of Asian Best from Amazon..
I was wondering if I actually needed one and then I bought it and realized I should have bought it years ago. It's a rice dispenser that I can dump a 20 lb bag of rice into. The lever on the front dumps a rice cooker "cup" of rice. There's no more mess or measuring cup needed any more.
Yum Asia have a recipe book - kindle ebook available too - The Greedy Panda Cookbook: Essential Rice Cooker Recipes For Rice Cooker Enthusiasts https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0966F8P18/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_awdo_JYBVP7FB0ZK7TKF1HHMS
I use this. I have a tofu press for when I want to make crispy baked tofu, but you can also just use hand weights and two cutting boards. If I’m just using tofu in stir fry, I just drain the excess liquid before using it.
Zojirushi NHS-10 6-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker
Its around 50$ comes with a steamer basket and and only 1 switch which you press down wicked easy to use and i have owned this for years with no issue.
https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-NHS-06-3-Cup-Uncooked-Cooker/dp/B00004S576
I second aroma. I have one that isn't sold anymore but it is fine after 6 years. https://www.amazon.com/Aroma-Housewares-ARC-2000ASB-Professional-cooked/dp/B009XI4Z10
Just don't get a glass top rice cooker, they don't hold heat well enough so the bottom will burn.
I am no longer a poor college student, but when I was I also bought an aroma rice cooker that's like 4qt for ~$30 I still have it 8 years later and it works great, it also has a slow cooker option, I literally make rice in it multiple times a week.
Edit: Link for the lazy(updated version of what I have) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055FSN0Y/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_ujQFFbCSHYCX9
https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-NS-TSC10-Uncooked-Cooker-1-0-Liter/dp/B0074CDG6C/ref=sr_1_6?crid=2IDYSO1K8BK This one is great, but it's a bit expensive. Any cheap one will do the work perfectly if you don't want to splurdge. I don't think there's a bad choice.
That's a nice one, but for $30 ish more you can get this one. Which is the one I have. Whichever you end up buying, you'll love it.
I just got this one to replace my 20 year old Sanyo that finally bit this dust and it is AMAZING!!!!! I never realized a rice cooker could make that much difference but t definitely does. The Sanyo did good but this Zojirushi is a thousand times better. Both in efficiency and finished product. I made the most perfect brown rice with it, perfectly tender, not gummy, and full of flavor. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with it
Is the Zojiroshi rice cooker that I have. Welcome to the beautiful world of perfectly cooked rice
Toshiba rice cookers hardly ever get a mention here but I love mine! I got the 6-cup for $70 from the Amazon used section and it was basically new. The three cup is $90 but has a used for $65: https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Digital-Programmable-Uncooked-One-Touch/dp/B091TW6ND5/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=38N3PCPIV19KF&keywords=toshiba+rice+cooker+3+cup&qid=1663289795&sprefix=toshiba+rice%2Caps%2C110&sr=8-3
Back in my vegan days I used to pressure cook brown rice using a ceramic insert in a regular pressure cooker. Makes perfect rice. Ohsawa ceramic cooking pot.
You can get ceramic inner pots for InstantPots. https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Instant-Pot-Non-Stick-Interior/dp/B00ICL8M1I
Yes, I've had trouble with YumAsia and spare parts before.
Are you in the UK? If I was buying a new one now, for the price difference I would try one of these. It's been many years since I had to contact them but they had briliant after sales care.
£33 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Judge-Horwood-JEA10-Family-Cooker/dp/B001TIVJRK
Answering my own question: looks like Yum Asia makes some good looking fuzzy logic cookers with ceramic bowls. The one I'm contemplating right now is the (3.5 cup Panda)[https://www.amazon.com/Yum-Asia-Functions-Multicooker-functions/dp/B08Y7RHNTH]
You can get cheaper models than a zorujishi with a timer (the trick is to get a model that is made in Japan since they are better build and last longer). IF you notice that you use the machine often (ie +5 time a week) and the machine dies (hopefully after many years of use), then you can revisit.
The issue with the model question is because I suspect your model has a glass lid, but my model has a lid that lifts up but stays attached to the main body. Trying to fit something that will steam on top would just be silly, but the older design models can have a stack added above if you can find one that fits.
Depending on the diameter, you could even consider top part of a steaming pot with steps, see below as an example. I'd look at a thrift store if you want metal or get a bamboo steaming basket.
Example:
https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-MCP116-20N-MultiClad-Stainless-Universal/dp/B009W28UVI/
Toshiba has a great option under $100: https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Digital-Programmable-Uncooked-One-Touch/dp/B091TW6ND5/ref=sr_1_3?crid=38GL12M9WQ42X&keywords=toshiba+rice+cooker&qid=1647053365&sprefix=toshiba+rice+cooker%2Caps%2C87&sr=8-3
Toshiba is highly underrated for rice cookers but they are way solid.
You can steam eggs by putting a half inch to inch of water in the container, and the eggs in the steamer basket. 8 minutes for fully cooked, 5 for cooked white with runny yolk.
Roger Ebert wrote The Pot And How To Use it. It's both a recipe book, and an ode to simple cooking.

I have this one, it's been really good to me. Also, ignore the reviews saying the "bowl is peeling", those people don't wash their rice and they don't know that the film is just the starch from the rice.
As long as you wash your rice and use the rice spatuala it comes with, it's great.
There may be even cheaper options, but thought I'd share mine.
I have a YAC. The factory cord is way over built, like so stiff it’s hard to do anything with it. It it’s nearly a standard ‘osha cord’ and easy to replace with something more forgiving:
I just found this. It's brand new! It's a pressure cooker and zojirushi rice cooker. Man I wish mine would die now? I want this and hate having two appliances. I would get the big one. Putting a whole chicken in to make soup would be a dream.

I got this one and love it.

I'm a single guy but get plenty of use out of the 10 cup version when I cook for others. It can also keep the rice warm and in good condition for hours, which is great when I bring it into the office.
House of two ppl. We have the ten cup. It's perfect. I can make sushi, and there's plenty of rice. We can have another couple over and fix a big dinner. I can cook extra rice for fried rice the next day. I can fit a decent amount of dumplings, because the 5.5 cup one would not be enough imo. And I can steam enough veggies and fish while my rice cooks for two people. The smaller one just isn't big enough to do two whole meals in. It's big enough to do some parts of two meals. I've had this one now for 8+ years. I can make cake or a giant fluffy pancake or a big fritatta.

I'm not sure if this meets your standards, but here you go.
I think you're looking for this:
IMO:
1 - 5.5 cups is a lot for a 1-2 people. I barely cook a cup or less.
2- I guess I've strayed away from being asian hahaha. It's sole purpose is making rice for me.
Just as long as you keep with using the plastic spatula that is provided it will work fine. We had a 5.5 cup that lasted over decades before the non-stick started to show wear.
3- The one link I have above shuts off after a few hours... Personally keeping rice in warm for days... seems risky. (I don't like mushy rice, more aldente.
I would just container it and fridge it. This has a reheat function. I'd put it back in the bowl and put about 1-2 tablespoon of water and use to reheat (keep warm, start) and it will reheat the rice just fine in 10mins. If you have larger portions (coming straight from the fridge) you might need to do it twice.
It's actually just a three year old stock photo of a beef and rice lunch bowl. Stealing stock photos for karma seems to be a theme for this OP, who unfortunately posts in several subreddits that I like.

oh no :(
I just bought an amazing 3 cup one on black Friday. It's regular price now but you should keep your eye on it because it's less than I've ever seen one, even if not on sale. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EVHWNVG/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o03\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is my concern - whether I have just bought a rice cooker that's too big.
The other one I've been looking at is the smaller YumAsia one, and that one might have suited my needs better.
I'd say I'd recommend buy this rice cooker it's only 20 dollar but they can go on sale low as like 15. This is pretty actually good for two couple and low amount just like how your discussion says. I hope this will help you out and if you thought about get this, please update us I'd love to see your recommendations! Steam tray is bomb for veggie or hard boiled eggs! Rice Cooker
I have this book (well, ebook) - quite happy with it:
The Greedy Panda Cookbook: Essential Rice Cooker Recipes For Rice Cooker Enthusiasts
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1998997103/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_4K221E0GFF515ZMHAASC
I just bought a Tiger JBX-B Series Micom 10 cup rice cooker, and I'm very pleased so far. We eat rice everyday, and I got so fed up with Instant Pot rice (I've tried so many different adjustments), that I ended up making rice on the stove. I got mine as one of Amazon's 'Used, like New' deals (box was beat up, but the rice cooker was/is fine). I paid $90 for mine.
So far I'm making rice everyday, and tonight I used the steamer tray to make salmon while our rice cooked.
Initially, I thought I was buying one of the ones that was made in Japan (it wasn't), but I think I am keeping it. It does all I need in a rice cooker - so glad I don't have to keep my eye on the stove - tonight I wasn't feeling well, so this easy supper was all the more appreciated.
I know you're wanting rice-cooking only, but have you looked into an instant pot? it cooks rice and can be used as a slow cooker/air fryer/other appliances.

Amazon link for the 11-in-1 Instant Pot; Definitely in your price range! I wouldn't know what the shipping is for Poland (I live in the US) but I think this is the best bang for your buck at face value
Get whatever rice cooker and get one of these…

I've bought this for 28 EUR https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00BEJ77WK
I didn't try anything else to make in it, but it's perfect for cooking rice and bulgur, and steaming veggies.
It's a bit large for one person, you may look for smaller ones, they should be more suitable for you. They all work on the same principle, so there's really not much difference, they will get the job done. Buy cheaper if you find some.
Small, affordable, and so far so good! It also has the "fuzzy" computer functionality, so it can adjust itself. I've only had the chance to use it once, with brown rice, and it was great!
I too was on the same boat, I wanted a "real" rice cooker but didn't want to spend a lot for just myself. Ended up buying a cheap one from walmart, and while good, this new one is much better!
For tofu you are looking for something called cheese cloth.
For rice, they do make something called a rice washing bowl which is a specialized colander used to wash rice. Here is an example: Inomata Japanese Rice Washing Bowl with Side and Bottom Drainers, Clear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004QZAAS2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2H4B9NHQWRXSJED74TQX However, even myself who is a lover of kitchen gadgets, I think this is a dumb purchase and space waster. I just wash my rice in a large bowl and pour the water out slowly at an angle and never lose any rice. Repeat a few times and your done. A special tool for this is a waste of space and money
> Bar
I keep these handy for such situations
Eva-dry E-500 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BD0FN8A/
Ivation 13-Pint https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B8SCPZ4/
But it took me a bit to visualize what happened. Rather than bring water to the unit, I bring the bowl to the faucet. Usually to rinse rice but it also means attention is mostly optional.
Roger Ebert wrote a book all about cooking in pot-style rice cookers, I hear it’s got good recipes and techniques.
Zojirushi is really good, this is a 3 cup. I have a Tiger 3 cup rice cooker and it does well for 2 people, especially since one of us is Japanese! $106 currently

Absolutely love our Comfee rice cooker. I don't have a link but it's Comfee Rice Cooker MB-FS5077 on the tag. I think it was like $60ish. It has a bunch of settings for cooking different things and different types of rice and it also has a saute setting so you can open face cook in it and then add ingredients and cook. It's also big and can cook 10 cups. I love it. We use it daily or every other day. It's held up great over the past 2-3 years and never had crusty rice.
Jk found the link:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CK58RPN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_vtdSFbENG88PN
Looks like it's $80
Amazon is saying this is the type I bought. Mine doesn’t look like this because I bought it 7 years ago, but if it’s like mine it’ll hold up, we use it at least weekly if not more. Preeettty sure I paid like 50 US dollars, but this is just 30 US dollars now!
Aroma Housewares 2-8-Cups (Cooked) Digital Cool-Touch Rice Grain Cooker and Food Steamer, Stainless, 8 Cup, Silver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007WQ9YNO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mKzMFbAX4ZNVF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I liked this Niigata Prefecture Minamiuonuma Koshihikari. It looks like it is not available on Amazon now, though. It is a nice short grain rice.
This Dash unit has only a physical switch and two indicator lights. https://www.amazon.com/DRCM200GBWH04-Steamer-Removable-Nonstick-Function/dp/B07G5WJBQN I like it very much. It cooks two cups rice maximum but is great for cooking and keeping warm as little as 2/3 cups rice without scolding the bottom. I use it for Uncle Ben’s, brown rice, sushi rice, rice with vegetables, coconut rice, etc. and it always come out perfect. I prefer the Dash rice cooker to the far more expensive Cuisinart rice cooker I have stowed away over the fridge since getting the Dash. I am vision-impaired btw.
I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R6YD71W/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_vu8vFbJYVM5XX I've used mine for 3-5 times weekly, I wore one out previously (after 5 years of use). My son's family has one and introduced Aroma rice cookers to me. For the price ($49.99) I would highly recommend it! Also I love it because I can use it many different ways! I've taken it to work, potlucks and picnics.
I used to have one of these. They are terribly messy.
I bought one of these very cheaply from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HRJ3680/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_9PJDFbRRCS7FR
You don't have to bust the bank for a rice cooker. Good luck
I have the Cuckoo 6 Cup cooker, purchased it on amazon and absolutely love it. The Zojirushi looks awesome but this was far more affordable and fit my current needs. I use it multiple times a week and have honestly 0 complaints.
Zojirushi makes the best ones in the world, hands down.
You can find a no-frills cooker anywhere for around $30.
Zoji's equivalent is $45 on Amazon and will last much longer due to the quality with which they are built.
If you want the same sort of thing but family-sized, Pleasant Hill sells the next size up in the same series for $10-$15 more.
I can highly recommend the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10. It cooks rice amazingly well. If you want to have additional program courses, then I would recommend the NS-TSC10. It includes options for cake, etc. that the ZCC doesn't have. The ZCC does a better job of adjusting for ratio mistakes, etc. in my opinion. Also, I would go with the 1.8L model for either if you plan to cook rice for more than 4 people at a time.
You could try to use an egg timer , those are cheap, and they prevent having overcook eggs..
It really depends on your budget. I picked up this Zojirushi (used, but brand new condition) and I don't regret the extra cost at all. It's excellent and unlike other rice cookers even when I screw up ratios it has never failed me or made my rice dry/soggy.
Is this the type of lemon powder used in this recipe?

The np-nvc10 uses pressure to cook rice, I have never tried to use it as a pressure cooker to cook anything else.
I have only seen cast iron pots on Japanese imports: https://www.amazon.com/ZOJIRUSHI-ironware-extremely-pressure-NP-WS10-BP/dp/B00DVZS1BG
im looking at a rice cooker. i always hear to get zojirushi, but you say this one is just as good? its about half the price too.
was looking at https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-NS-LAC05XT-Cooker-Warmer-Stainless/dp/B005FVROW6
Friends use the Aroma and think it's wonderful. One described it as the best thing he's bought in a while. It's a good cooker. It doesn't have as many menu options or timers as a high end cooker, doesn't have the cute sounds, and the high end cooker will cook rice a little better. Also the high end cooker will prolly last longer since it is a bit more solidly constructed. I also find the high end cooker a little easier to take apart and clean, not that there is much to that. Clean the bowl, the cover and the steam vent, all are removable. Dead easy.
I have a Zojirushi because at the time I got it that was the only small capacity cooker I could find. Perfect rice every time, just measure accurately. http://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-NS-LAC05XA-Uncooked-Cooker-Warmer/dp/B000G30ESY/ref=pd_sim_79_5?ie=UTF8&dpID=41NSG173A0L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0JQDPQ7291RBBBMBCT1J
Ooh, good pick! I have the 3-cup model.
These rice cookers are amazing at cooking, well, rice. Technically you can cook oatmeal in them too, if you're a real oatmeal snob, but they're really for rice. So, what can you do with cooked rice?
Extremely lazy thing to do with cooked rice:
http://www.amazon.com/Tasty-Bite-Madras-Lentils-10-Ounce/dp/B0007R9L4M Microwave pouch for 1 minute. Put on top of rice. Eat. It's cheap, fast, tasty, filling, and pretty healthy. Amazon's price isn't terrible but they're cheaper from costco. I go through a few pouches a week.
Semi-lazy thing to do with cooked rice:
Fry it. Literally just put the rice in a frying pan with vegetable oil and turn on the heat. Cook the rice long enough that it dries out a bit, at least five minutes. Then add an egg. Once the egg's cooked, stir in some soy sauce and you're done.
That's the basic fried rice recipe, that's the bare minimum. You can add anything to that and it's great. Onions, frozen peas, and garlic are obvious choices, but it doesn't stop there. Meats like pulled pork go great in it, as does rotisserie chicken. Season with chopped basil, scoop in some peanut butter, add hot sauce -- experiment and find out what you like. Great way to use up leftovers too.
Slow cooker
A rice cooker's best friend is a slow cooker. Check out /r/slowcooking -- 95% of what's on there goes GREAT on rice.
I might be a little bit late but a silicon steam basket should work. Something like this would work well because maybe the handles could be held outside the cooker to elevate the basket above the rice if you were doing the two at once. Otherwise if your local store has the same brand in stock then maybe they can special order the replacement part for not too bad a price.
This one. Has all the good settings, comes with a steam tray too. I bought a more expensive version because it had a very discounted price, but I was seriously considering this one before
