Word of mouth bistro is one of the best breakfast places I've ever been to. It just won 'best undiscovered restaurant' for the city, and only serve breakfast and lunch. Be warned though, they don't have a lot of floor space so it fills up quick. Wait times are to be expexted.
My favorite app for this is Windy, you can see the predictions here:

Looks like from now til about 4am it'll be good, but maybe shift back to smoke around sunrise.
I don't know of things along the way, but this website is neat for planning road trips https://roadtrippers.com/
Edit: It's buggy AF for actually planning, but useful to look things up along your route
If you want to get rid of the diabetes and lose weight at the same time, please check out this book: https://www.amazon.com/How-Not-Die-Discover-Scientifically/dp/1250066115
All of the info is free online at nutritionfacts.org if you don't want to buy or borrow the book. It's basically about using a plant-based diet to reverse disease. Everything is evidence based with links to the actual studies cited. I've been following this plan for less than a month (25 days now, to be precise) and my blood pressure has gone from 130/95 to 110/75 and I've lost seven pounds and counting. There's a whole chapter on diabetes, what causes it, and how to reverse it. I'm in the same boat as you, covid weight has not been pretty. Actually getting excited about losing weight now for once haha.
Someone posted I was incorrect and cited the law. The post has since been deleted and I wanted to agree that the law as written now is vague. However I found this post from the Beaverton police department saying:
>"Oregon law allows a driver facing a flashing yellow arrow to “cautiously enter the intersection only to make the movement indicated by the flashing yellow arrow signal” ORS 811.260(13). The law does not allow a driver to enter the intersection to wait to make the movement. When oncoming traffic prohibits a driver from making the turn, the appropriate response is for the driver to stop at the stop line or crosswalk – as they would if the light was red – and wait for a safe opportunity to make the turn. A driver out in the intersection when their light is red has committed the violation of “Driver Fail to Obey Traffic Control Device” (ORS 811.265) and could be issued a $265 ticket."
Grocery bags never worked for us. We have something similar to this for our dog. It attaches to his leash, which is better than carrying around a grocery bag, and as a bonus, we never have to worry about forgetting one. The refills are less than a penny each. Amazon has some good options.
the grass pollen level currently is very high.

Also there are municipalities that set up whistle bans, and Salem did have them at certain intersections in 1990 according to the following document. I haven't been able to determine if they are still in effect.
I did find a post on a message board that stated at one time Salem was the deadliest place in Oregon for train vs pedestrian/vehicle collisions, and that the whistle ban was lifted. I have included a link to that also.

There are lots of previous posts about game nights.

Let's see... Chiropractor - 50$ a visit to Riverfront Wellness, in south. It's the only place I have been.
I would second the recommendation for Aibertos. Very good, and open 24 hours.

I'm making the DIY one from this website.

I should have it done by Sundays game. I'll let you know if it works.
If you are comfortable spraying this stuff is great:
Bayer 4031982B Suspend 16oz, White https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00C2TR212/
Far better than what you can buy at Home Depot. It lasts for 3 months between spraying. Some exterminators use this spray.
The stink bugs have been so bad this year, I ended up buying this bug vacuum and I think it’s worth every penny Vacuum Bug Catcher Spider and... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6BM5XC5?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
West and South Salem are nice. Avoid all other parts of Salem IMO.
I definitely recommend going out to Silver falls and doing the Trail of Ten Falls. It's beautiful. You'll want to go early in the morning-- even during COVID it gets disgustingly busy after 10am.

Please no, pull through sharpeners just mangle knives.
Something like this will actually sharpen them while minimizing the level of skill and attention needed. https://www.amazon.com/Work-Sharp-Precision-Adjust-Sharpener/dp/B08L72P245/ref=asc_df_B08L72P245/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475810789848&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4840790012410685213&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&...

False. Or use whatever other historic weather site you feel comfortable with.
> I moved away from the northeast ...
And how long have you been here to establish this "we don't usually" perspective? Every year, we go through this at least a few times.
First, I made one, something like this DIY Antenna. It worked OK, but it looked ugly and I couldn't get one of the major broadcast channels (8? Maybe 2?) because they broadcast in UHF. I ended up getting a &50 outdoor antenna from WalMart that got HD/VHF/UHF and putting in my attic. Made sure I oriented north and it's been doing great ever since. South Salem.
Actually, I bought a Neo by Alphasmart for myself many years ago, when I wanted to do my journaling during my breaks at work but didn't have a computer I could use for personal stuff. It's essentially a keyboard with a really basic text editor (like Notepad) and a simple spell-checker. I let my kid borrow it on a vacation once, just to have fun trying to type, and now it's more his than mine.
Additional info: I hit a patch in West Salem this morning and slid into a curb; weatherunderground had the low at 32.5 in my area in the early AM https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KORSALEM304

Have a nice day 😁
1) uBlock Origin is a great browser plugin-based ad blocker
2) Consider buying a Raspberry Pi and setting up Pi-hole for ad blocking at the network layer. I run one of these and it's fantastic.
I'm thinking of either bringing Immune or How not to Program in C++.
Although, if things go like they did last time I'll probably get so wrapped up in the Mistborn audiobook during my walk from the parking garage that I'll not end up doing much actual reading. 😅
At Silver Falls State Parkyou can park at North Falls parking lot and go under the highway and take the trail to Upper North Falls. From North Falls parking lot drive South past the main entrance to Silver Falls State Park and look for the 214 Trailhead on your Left. Park at the 214 Trailhead. This is the combination mountain bike, hike, and esquarian trails into the backcountry. To get to Shelburg Falls you can either hike the gravel road East until you get to the access point for Shelburg Falls, or you you can take the 214 trail > Catamont Trail > Lost Creek Trail > Vines-Maple Trail > Shelburg Trail to Shelburg Falls and then follow the gravel road back to where you parked. This is about a 10 mile hike. Alternatively, there is a shorter 2 mile hike by first taking HWY 22 to Lyons, Oregon.
Out on the coast on the way to Lincoln City outside of Otis there is Drift Creek Falls.
Awesome! Thank you. Family friendly places to go would be greatly appreciated. So far we've only been to waterfront park, and poked around downtown a bit.
I actually signed up for meetup.com over this last weekend and am still browsing. At the moment some of the weekend hiking meetups look most interesting and Hack Salem was the very first thing recommended to me. Unfortunately, Hack Salem seems to only ever be on Wednesday night. My wife works late Tue/Wed and we normally try to get our kid to bed by 9:00, so I'm not really sure how I'd managed that yet.
What sort of software development do you do? Hobbyist or pro?
Regardless of that, it’s dangerous to those behind you when it starts blowing off of your vehicle. https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/potential-dangers-of-not-removing-the-snow-ice-off-your-vehicle-before-driving/70007389
you're probably better off getting a "cheap" $20 or so USB endoscope camera with LED lights on a long lead that you can wind down there and see how far the bottle has gone before you take any further action. How far it's gone will determine what methods might or might not work to get it out. Also (if it's in a spot where you can fish it out with something) you'll be able use it while trying to fish it out to see whether you're hitting it or not instead of just fishing in the dark. something like this https://www.amazon.com/Seesi-Endoscope-Waterproof-Inspection-Semi-Rigid/dp/B07PBF6DX5
I bought one (didn't have a semi rigid cable though, wish I'd have thought to get one that did) awhile back when my grandson was in his flushing things down the toilet phase, so I could see what he had flushed and how far it had made it, so I could determine the best way to get it out. Works great, except the cord being too floppy and making it difficult to fish through the toilet. Plug it into my windows 10 laptop and fire up the camera app. The one I linked has a semi rigid cable though, so should be a bit easier to use it in things like ductwork where you don't want it to just flop down and point at the side of the duct or sideways or something.
The point is that there are plenty of places to go for free to get measured. If you hate VS that much, then I would assume you’d want to waste their time.
Top tip coming your way though… just buy an F’ing measuring tape. SINGER 00218 Tape Measure, 60-Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000B7Q9FM
I suggest everyone have a few of these Luci lights around the house. They're solar rechargable, pack down to nothing, weight nothing, and provide a decent output for a solid 6 hours or so.
They're great for camping and emergency kits and they're only $10-$20 depending on when and where you look.
Hello! I'd recommend getting the Alfred's All-in-One Course Book 1 for children: https://www.amazon.com/All-One-Course-Children-Alfreds/dp/0882847872/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Alfred%27s+all-in-one+course&qid=1609604793&s=home-garden&sr=1-1
Are you interested in lessons?
man, i really want to try these out but the reviews on amazon are horrible... ugh.

Very easy to use. Often i'll pull it up after i see some activity and can be in on all the juicy juicy (and sometimes depressing) info.
Do you mean drywall walls?
For items like a TV you must find a stud location behind the drywall (use a studfinder device) and mount the lag screws directly into the stud, which is strong enough to support a television.
It's always best to find a stud for most things if you can, but if you can't, then you have several options for drywall anchors, depending on the weight of the items.
One really great way to hang heavier pictures is to use a drywall hook, it looks like this https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Hook-Picture-Drywall-Sheetrock/dp/B0019CHDKI it only puts a single small hole in the wall and can hold a LOT of weight.
StraightTalk uses both the AT&T and Verizon networks depending on what phone you choose (either GSM or CDMA). There is an app called Coverage? that will show you where those networks are strongest and weakest. Generally, Verizon and AT&T have the largest service areas, T-mobile is best within city limits or near freeways, and the others have larger limitations.
I don't know why anyone would steal them.
