Also possibly, if they don't want to look at the words it can be physically uncomfortable to actually look at? Maybe large print books or a transluscent colored sheet that changes the color of the background can make it easier on the eyes to look at words? (example at the link below)

I hate that women's underwear is designed to ride up, even on models. Men's briefs fit into the crease between butt cheek and thigh, which is obviously better. Also, why is the crotch area so narrow? I want these things to cover my whole vulva, not give me a camel toe.
I have a serious bubble butt and I need quite a bit more fabric in the back. I've tried all kinds of underwear and here's what I finally came up with: get full-coverage briefs and cut a very shallow u-shape from the waistband in the front. I don't cut the elastic all the way around, just in the front such that it no longer touches into the fullest part of my belly. My favorite underwear are these viscose ones and these cotton ones.
Now I never get wedgies or panty lines, and I can cut a wider u-shape for chubbier days or less wide for skinnier days. I don't know about you but my volume fluctuates in the normal course of things.
This might sound ridiculous but have you reassured him that you won’t stop reading to him once he learns how to read? I would also not mess with any preexisting routines for the time being (so no stress added to bedtime story etc) but start some new routines where he reads to you or you read together. You can switch off chapters, paragraphs, sentences, or even words- and use you reading to him as a motivation for him to read (ie after you read me a short book pick one for me and I’ll read it to you). You might even enjoy trying a book like this one which has mixed reading levels for adults and kids to read together.
Idk what his reading level is right now, but if you’re starting from zero my younger sister who was a reluctant reader liked bob books- we had an oversized set (normal book size instead of tiny) from Costco which ended up being the first books she read. Also make sure all his pre reading skills are in order- that he knows letter and combination sounds etc.
play games that motivate reading- if he likes board games, have him read the words on the board. Have him spell words by making letters out of lego, wikki stix, letter magnets, playdoh, etc. there are a lot of toys out there that encourage reading like boggle jr. Cook and do crafts or science experiments with reading level appropriate instructions, and have him read the recipes/instructions to you. Play early reading focused computer games like reader rabbit- the list goes on.
Also, make sure he doesn’t have any vision problems if you haven’t already- and make sure the dr checks both close up and far vision.
Above all, keep working on reading while trying to avoid friction- the more resistant he gets, the harder it will be to get him motivated to read.
I have studs I found on Amazon with flat backs (https://www.amazon.com/Ruifan-12-20PCS-Surgical-Earring-Piercing/dp/B076Q786SX) and studs I bought for a friend with rounded backs (https://comfyearrings.com/store/). These have prevented the stabbing issue I had previously with other stud earrings. Granted, I don't seem to have specific metal issues, so the flat backs work fine. But if you have metal sensitivities, you may want to try looking at the rounded backs instead, since they have different metal options.
I use this, no flavor, little to no foam.
I use a very thin mousepad and prefer the slick/hard finish to the cottony/bendy material. However, the type of mouse is the more important factor for me.
I use an ergonomic mouse so your hand is tilted sideways to keep your wrist at a more natural angle and you can easily rest your hand on the desk. I have this Anker mouse
Vibes earplugs. I searched for a very, very long time for the perfect pair. They are completely comfortable and the noise cancelling ability is amazing. Hope this helps provide you some relief!! Amazon link here
I found a good price on Amazon for one. There are now 3 floating around my house. Mil has a 15lb one for anxiety/depression and has noticed a marked difference in her sleep. We bought a lighter one for my 7 year old son who is autistic and has Spd. He loves his and will steal ours (the 15lbs ones) regularly. I also have a 15lb one that I've noticed helps a lot with spd and anxiety.
I definitely say go for it! You can get minky duvet covers too.

This one also has a coupon to take another 11 bucks off of it, so making it in the 70s.
Most duvets seem to run about 40 to 50. You can find them on Amazon too. May find some cooler ones on Etsy.
My daughter is SPD, I learned a lot from her OT but, there is a book that might help: Too Loud, Too Bright, Too Fast, Too Tight: What to Do If You Are Sensory Defensive in an Overstimulating World https://smile.amazon.com/dp/0060932929/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BAohFb8GCPXHP

Yes, I'm really picky about the water taste! I'm on drilled well, and I've got a water softener. I leave this in the fridge, and it takes any taste out. Also, the Zero filters are excellent, but once I moved and went on well water, I needed to change the filters too quickly. I needed a cheaper alternative and landed on this one. https://www.amazon.ca/Waterdrop-Dispenser-Long-Lasting-Lifetime-Filtration/dp/B08C7TY89P/ref=sr\_1\_47

I do have to paint over the metal where the straps are attached, as I have metal allergies, but that’s my only real issue with these masks.
You could try something like a deodorant stone. I don't have SPD but am considering it for other reasons. Do your own research but I can say that I have a small "alum" stone that I use after shaving and I believe the properties are similar. Providing a link.
You're welcome. I have chewy necklaces that may be worth looking into as well. Just make sure it is hard enough that he won't chew through it. I made that mistake. I bought one too soft for me, and I chewed through it really fast. It is okay that he eventually chews through it, though. I recommend a pack of them, so you can replace them easily.
These are the best temporary soundproofing option I’ve found. Pricey and large but they have truly minimized the sound coming into the room, particularly near windows.
I bought just an adult exercise vest with weights you can add. I had to adjust the shoulder straps to fit my needs but that was relatively easy. If the child sized one suggested won’t fit, you can look elsewhere for an adult one.
Here is an example:
I have always had long hair. There are two ways I prefer to put mine up.
I don't know if there is a name for this, there probably is, but I pull my hair into a ponytail with my hands at my neckline, then twist it, lay it up my head, and secure it with a bone-clip style barrette (this sort of thing). A claw-style barrette or a large clip barrette also work depending on how fine your hair is and what you tolerate. I just let the end up the ponytail flop over.
The other thing I do is use a neck gaiter like a wide headband.
I was recommended these by a friend and this group. I really like them because they don't remove all sound so if I want to still talk to my husband I can. It just lowers the level of the sound around me. It's helped a lot so far.

Yeah! The underwear that I use are the "Hanes Women's Sporty Cotton Hipster Underwear", and they are literally the only underwear I can wear (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H82Y19G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )
I’ve had luck with these as they have a soft waist and the mid rise (it’s really between a mid and high) does not cut into your hip area. They hold up pretty well too.
Also the Calvin Klein modern cotton line has a wider waistband but it’s soft and stretchy.
Good luck in your search finding the right fit for you!
If I recall correctly, I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/Fleece-Lined-Leggings-Elastic-Slimming/dp/B0714K1CZC/ref=mp_s_a_1_26?keywords=fleece+lined+leggings&qid=1640924104&sr=8-26
Mine are old as fuck, so they have stretched a lot and if I feel too bloated, I can actually roll them down. I also try to sleep on my stomach during a flare up. It keeps the pain a lot more manageable.
Generally, you should use a duvet cover with a weighted blanket because the blanket itself isn't washable. The duvet is tied onto the inner blanket, so it still feels like one blanket. It's essentially two parts of a single blanket.
This brand is what I have and it comes with a fluffy or minky (depending on which option you pick) "winter" duvet cover and a light "summer" cover. The blanket itself has smaller sections, so the beads don't shift too much. My son has the same brand and neither of us have had any problem with the beads coming out. We've had them for about three years.
The thing you’re describing with beach towels is usually called velour, so look out for that in item descriptions if you are buying online.
Coyuchi air weight or Turkish towels definitely don’t have a soft side. They both feel kind of rough, which is nice if that’s what you prefer.
If you own your home, you can replace the exhaust vent with one that has an integrated heater on a separate switch. It’s expensive, but worth it if you are going to live in the same place for a long time.
It’s also possible that you have a heat lamp fixture that just has a regular bulb in it. I have seen that in rental units before. A heat lamp is a lovely thing to have in a bathroom.
It is something similar to the one linked below. I have it inside. I don’t use the wood bar on the swing which provides a lot of compression when I’m in it.

Are Loops actually any good? I work with dogs and their loud barking is causing me to have full blown sensory meltdowns these days. I need to be able to hear my coworkers though which makes it tough to balance how much noise cancellation I can get away with.
If its loud enough some countries healthcare will buy hearing aids and noise generators to block it. Some may even cover therapy to help you not hear it as much.
I find ANC have their own ringing added when nothing is playing, but they are worth the tradeoff in loud environments. They don't compare to how bad safety earmuffs make the tinnitus perception...
This sound generator site can help make noise to tune out individual's tinnitus and outside sounds it is great: https://mynoise.net/
How long have you had it? If it doesn't get louder it is usually easier to deal with over time.
I literally just opened this sub to ask that same question.
Currently I use headphones meant for ear protection instead of anything with speakers, active noise cancelling, etc.

They have completely saved my life, especially when I was living in a noisy apartment. You can actually still hear people talking, but it cuts out distant noises and things like lawnmowers, air purifiers, fans, and other ambient noises I find triggering. If I want to listen to music or something I just use my earbuds underneath and it works great. Again, I don’t know how I could have survived living in an apartment with screaming kids, band practices, and other intrusive noises without them.
They are worth the $15

I have a pair of these, happy with them. There is a seam but at least for me it's not a distracting one. They're cheap and easily returned if they don't work for you.
Try “bralettes”!!! I just discovered them in the last year and holy shit they’re life-changing. I don’t have huge knockers so they may not work for everyone, but for me they are THE. BEST. Target has them for like $10-15 each, but I can also get like 2-3 packs at Marshall’s and T.J. Maxx for $15-$18. I’ve been loving the Lucky Brand ones: Lucky Brand Women's Seamless Wire-Free Comfort Lounge Bra Multi-Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08N872GJ7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_HQKRXGH3G0G72P893MND?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Hmmm they were called Flare isolate and I bought them on EarJobs.
They did eliminate sound well but felt solid and uncomfortable and would just constantly slide out, I was always having to push them back in
I was looking for loops but these were more highly reviewed. Honestly just spending $60 on something so easy to lose is not gonna work for my ADHD life.
I'm glad I could be helpful! The material on this blanket is similar to the ones I have:

We had Baby Banz at first and then these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H5RV8NX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. No idea how well the noise is cancelled in them and the comfort, but my kid liked both. My kid is only sensitive to certain noises and seeks out a lot of other loud noises. He isn't particular about what he wears either, which can be an issue.
i don’t know if a dentist would recommend it (no fluoride) but this is the best toothpaste i’ve found for my SPD because it’s gritty instead of foamy and the saltiness of it feels very soothing on my throat

What about something like this? It has an elastic waist, and is made from linen so it should be soft and breathable but still looks pulled together. Unfortunately, with clothes it’s always hit or miss on how they will actually feel in person.

Do you like the feeling of compression, heaviness or tightness? Or do you prefer to avoid those feelings?
Solace Nutrition makes a flavorless powdered vitamin mix that might work well for your child. I don’t have any experience with it, but saw it on a few searches for powdered vitamins.
I use to hate the feeling of the seams in socks. These are the socks I have bought and continue to buy and wear. I’m not affiliated with this company other than the fact that the socks that they make are almost unnoticeable for me. Good luck. I just discovered this sub, I’d love to meet more people that I can relate to.
I'd suggest cloth touchscreen gloves. I currently use these, but they are not the greatest. You'd have to replace them every few weeks if you use them in your everyday life, as they fall apart quickly, but sturdier materials are really bad with touchscreen. Also remember, the thinner the gloves you get, the faster they fall apart. If you want thin gloves because you live somewhere warm, I'd suggest getting one of those ones that sell like 12 gloves for $10, because they fall apart in like, days, but they come in bulk.
So much wonderful advice already, but I was wondering if this compression bed sock might be an option for your bed as well? It's a pain to put on the bed, but my son loves his. We're in a hot climate without central air so we had to find a cool alternative for sleep as well. I hope you are able to find something that helps!
I have this one in 48" x 78" 15lbs in blue with two duvet covers. The covers can be washed and there is a light one for warm weather and a warm cozy one for cold weather. My son has the "lattice scroll" version and loves it. I've had mine since summer 2019 and like that the smaller squares keep the beads in place well.
I have this one, and it’s amazing: Natori Women's Cashmere Fleece Robe https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0722943W1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_Z5T041R6FFPPBQA7P98Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It’s polyester fleece (not cashmere), so it does get sweaty and stinky if you start doing heavy house work in it or whatever.
I did get my husband one of these as well. He is a men’s small but the women’s medium fits him just fine, though the sleeves are a little short.
Time for you to take charge, do some reading and some self help. Many people have not gone to a doctor and even if they did the doctor did nothing. There is a lot of help out there, good help and bad help. You are in control and you need to figure out what is going to work for you. You are so much stronger than you realize, stop blaming others, stand up straight and take control. You got this!
This book was my first step. If you cant afford to buy it, just look side.
Have you tried swiping the area with a little witch hazel? I was wearing Freestyle Libre sensors for a little while and was having this same issue until I started using Trader Joe’s cleansing pads on the area first.
(Witch hazel is an an anti-fungal or something so I’m assuming that’s why it worked and I stopped breaking out, but obviously it’s anecdotal and I can’t know for sure)
Good luck! 🙏🏼
I have SPD (and ADHD) and have lived with ADHD partners my entire adult life and this sounds exactly like my experience. I’ve literally had conversations with my therapist where I’m like, I love my partner and love when they get excited and talk loud but at the same time it is also really painful?! And listening to them eat a sucker makes me want to murder them?!?! 😅
Noise canceling headphones have Changed My Life. I bet they would help your partner a ton. I literally can’t hear my partner eat suckers anymore and so many sounds are less jarring (like cupboards).
For the early morning issue, some ideas: A quiet fan (like this Honeywell) might offset the noise that your partner makes in the room. Alternatively, for a while when my partner had a crazy different schedule than me, they kept clothes in the linen closet outside our room so that I wasn’t disturbed as much.
Good luck!
I know people hate Amazon, BUT I found this one: KERNOWO Kids Pod Swing Seat,Indoor Outdoor Sensory Swing for Kids,Hanging Seat Hammock for Children (Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CXTR57Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_i_DP6ZFbN5T8CCV (maybe a different brand?) there are a million of this exact swing just under different brands. I think I got the Outree one. Anyway, my daughter with spd doesn’t like the fabric or not being able to move in one like this: Therapy Swing for Kids with Special Needs (Hardware Included) Snuggle Swing Cuddle Indoor Outdoor Adjustable Hammock for Children with Autism, ADHD, Aspergers, Sensory Integration https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083D8328Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_i_5Q6ZFb00JR9CY
She is also sensory seeking and the swing is one of her calm down places. She loves to spin and spin. She also likes that she is confined, can move, or do whatever inside like a tiny tent. She is 2.5. We also let her have iPad time in there.
Hope this helps!
ETA, might not be clear in my post but we have the first one I linked to; daughter likes it and it was cheap.

This is gritty but when thinking about taste I don't think there's much taste to it...
I use this as well as fluoride toothpaste so you might wanna research it more. And it's like a brown powder you dip your toothbrush in. I like it.
You can buy fluoride that you can treat yourself with as a separate thing. You don't have to do it very often. https://www.amazon.com/Gel-Kam-Flouride-Preventative-Treatment-Flavor/dp/B0013TTR4M
I cannot stand mint because it burns the underside on my tongue so I use non fluoride toothpaste [or even just baking soda] each day with whatever flavor I want.
I have a similar problem. Everyday sounds, especially talking, have been bothering me a lot too.
I'm considering noise-filtering earplugs. The ones I've found are supposed to lower the volume of the sound you hear while still allowing you to hear well enough to have conversations or listen to music, and also be mostly invisible. There are several companies that make them, but the one that seems the most reliable to me so far is called Eargasm.
Here are links to the Eargasm earplugs, from amazon and Eargasm's website: https://eargasmearplugs.com/ https://www.amazon.com/Eargasm-Musicians-Motorcycles-Sensitivity-Conditions/dp/B019M576XW/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1540950575&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=eargasm%2Bhigh%2Bfidelity%2Bear%2Bplugs&th=1
I think I'm going to order them soon, but I'm worried they won't actually work as well as they claim. I can't recommend them since I haven't tried them, but I thought I'd share in case they sound like what you need.
I don't know if that's what you're looking for, or if you'd rather just completely block out sound and not hear their conversations at all. If you would like to completely block out sound, maybe consider regular foam earplugs like some use for sleeping? They would be less visible than headphones.
Go to this Amazon page , see the picture of the book on the upper left corner? Click on the look inside and scroll down about 1/4 of the way until you see a list. It might be an eye opener. I bought the book and love it.

I like jewelry!! Whether it be a cool bumpy necklace charm (like a coin), moving a little charm on a necklace of even a fidget ring, like this:

Maybe some that have a print on them? That’s a non-metal cover? I’m not sure what you’re looking for exactly, but I have terrible misophonia and can’t sleep without white noise blocking out the sound of my husband’s breathing.
I found Bluetooth earbuds on Amazon that are small and do a good job of physically muffling sound due to the way they fit in the ear, and are very comfortable for sleeping. I can sleep on my side with no discomfort at all, and they have a long battery life, so no “low battery” warnings scaring the shit out of you when you’re in deep sleep as long as you start with them fully charged. Honestly, I’m not even sure if they do have a low batter warning because I just charge them every day so they’re ready to go at night.
The biggest issue is that they are a cheaply made product and with nightly use they crap out after 2-4 months in my experience, via the sound on one side or the other cutting out.
They’re around $30, and I haven’t found a better option (I have searched and searched), so I just keep replacing them until BOSE gets their shit together and figures out a way to fix the battery issue in the sleep buds and re-releases them. (Those were absolutely PERFECT other than the battery problem).
Here’s a link to the Bluetooth sleep earbuds: Bluetooth Sleep Headphones - GOOJODOQ Bluetooth 4.2 Wireless Soft in-Ear Sleeping Earbuds, 18 Hours Music time, Wireless Sleep Headsets for Insomnia, Side Sleeper, Gym, Relaxation and Sports-Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MJ5RHMW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_c.tXEbY7H1270
A quick Amazon search led me to this. 14"x22" seems to be the largest I can find. There are multiple in that range but the others are more expensive.
some intentionally filter out less than 'normal' ones to let the singing/instruments though. They also sell ones for players of each instrument tuned to let you hear less of your own and more of your bandmates, not sure how well they work https://www.amazon.com/Zildjian-HD-Ear-Plugs-Light/dp/B013HS22F2/
I bought myself a plastic wobble stool to use at my desk, but it was targeted towards kids and came in several heights. Several of the reviewers got it for SPD kids. Maybe some sort of chair replacement like that, for when she has to sit not-on-the-floor? It’s not especially exciting, so the other kids are unlikely to be jealous, especially if you pick a color that matches the chairs in the room or get the boring grey one like I did. I have one of these and I love it:

She might also like something made of that velour type fabric that appears to change color when you rub it.
