You'll want to download the RATP app, in order to plan your metro routes. You can wear whatever you want here, truly. Anything goes for style as long as you look moderately put together and not like "People of Walmart". When you're here, pick up a copy of the "Pariscope" from one of the many newspaper stands; it has all the week's events and cultural activities. Drink lots of wine, I've yet to find an undrinkable one - don't fuss too much about picking the "right" one when you're out for dinner. You can also ask your waiter to recommend a wine pairing. Try and learn some basic French phrases - people are actually very nice to Anglophones and they will try to bail you out once you run out of French, but it's nice to start en Francais. Have a nice time, I hope the sun shines for you!
If you have a full day, I’d also recommend Paris a Pied:
There are three spectacular walking tours across Paris, and the book has detailed maps and history as you go. My French isn't nearly good enough to read the history as I went, but the walks are beautiful. They're designed to take you across the city without relying on the large boulevards, with beautiful gardens and some amazing views along the way. Each one is really an all-day endeavor (they range from 20-24km long, IIRC), although you could start/stop any of them part-way.
It's an absolute must-do for anyone fit enough to enjoy walking that far in a day. I'd suggest you do walk #2. It starts in Parc de la Villette and heads south passing through the Marais and the Latin Quarter, ultimately ending in Parc Montsouris. You could also reverse the direction if you'd like to end up north (and maybe go to Monmartre for dinner)
The guide book is available from Amazon or FNAC. https://www.amazon.fr/Paris-%C3%A0-pied-FFRandonn%C3%A9e/dp/2751408273/ http://livre.fnac.com/a9552142/Collectif-Paris-a-pied
I bought my copy at IGN Le Monde des Cartes 50 Rue de la Verrerie, 75004 Paris, France
Look up events in meetup , there is always after work events which are free.
Also try this application:

There are many cool events i have been too
I'll be there, maybe a little bit late. A map (that doesn't give your personal data to a firm trying to escape taxes) could help others:
1- meetup.com is pretty popular, especially in the expat community.
2- Work culture depends on the company you work for (as it does everywhere). But you almost certainly will get more vacation days here than in the US.
4- Start learning now; download Doulingo, buy a book, look at the websites of TV5Monde & RFI (they do an evening journal en français facile so at least you can start hearing French and the understanding will follow). Learn some key phrases to get you through your early days here and then find a class that will work around your work schedule. Generally, people in Paris understand some level of English but it is key that you try French first out of politeness. I have found the culture here to be more formal and focused on politeness than in the US.
Hi I don't know if this might help but this book is really easy in order to learn spanish* conjugation. Very useful, easy to understand.
