I use 3 controllers.
The Switch Pro Pad (worse of the 3 but still a great controller).
Edit: The switch version upsets me that all the triggers can't be mapped.

Highly recommend this. Dpad is much better and generally bigger so better for my hands.
Downside is they aren't wireless at all so can only be used in handheld mode.
Is what you want just a gamepad wherein the d-pad is four separate buttons? I too like this for games I use gamepad on, and imo this controller fits that niche nicely

The 4 d-pad buttons (and all the other inputs) are separate mechanical buttons, so you can feel them quite distinctly.
