I have been on Goodreads before, though I don't know how well it would work. Here is what a goodreads group might look like, and here is an example of a successful RP on that site.

Edit: Goodreads allows you to link a website with your group. I've never acually done that though, so I don't know how it would work. Also, once you've made an account, goodreads will tell you how many posts you haven't seen yet in each discussion. It looks like this. 5 posts (2 unread).
