Hey there, the reason for it not working is not your Tesla UMC2. It is the adapter you got.
So I dunno how much research you did to find out but not all TT-30 adapters will work with EV charging. One of the poles is swapped for EV current. The one you got is a common tt-30 to nema 14-50 for RV power, which is what you find at any old store like Walmart or camp world or bass pro shop.
You have to find a specific adapter that had swapped this pole internally at the adapter. So something like This
Good luck with car camping next time, get the right adapter and you'll be golden.
Very cool!
For bugs Id recommend this temporary film from XPEL.
I used it for both my Model Ys on my FL <-> TN trip and they simply peeled off when I got home.

Mud flaps and a center console organizer are must haves as well!
If you like the Maxpider but don’t like the logo, I went with these Taptes floor mats that are basically the same material.
I just installed the Basenor ones this morning and they popped in with no issue and my wife didn't even notice they were on. She thought they were stock.
Also the Tesla only covers the front 2 wheel wells whereas the Basenor hits all 4 wheels.
Edited to add the Amazon link.
There is a black plastic part at the top of the seat (where the belt connects). I make sure the sliding buckle rest on the top of the seat. This photo might help - https://www.screencast.com/t/qeaqeHzjTN
I dipped them myself with this kit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079MGSXHG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Used a little more than half of the cans. Looks a lot better than the plain stock color.
After a month with no home charger, I was finally able to install my DIY charging station! The Model Y with no home charger wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but let me tell you, it's so much nicer to get in and have a full charge every single day. Superchargers are good in a pinch but I was getting really tired of the 20-30 minute stops every 4-5 days.
I live in a condo (which I own) but I technically rent my parking space, so I needed to install something that was moderately pretty and adaptable in case my parking situation changes. The building paid for the electrical work (which is why it took a frigging month) but I took care of the endpoint hardware and enclosure.
The structure is just scrap plywood, PVC trim board, and outdoor acrylic paint. The equipment inside is this electrical panel ( https://www.homedepot.com/p/203393687 ) and this charger hook ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0799GVJWN/ )
Total cost to put it all together was about $200. The actual electrical work, since it involved overhauling my box service and digging an underground trench, was $$$$.
It's a NEMA 10-50 plug. As long as it's wired to a 250 and not a 125V breaker you're good. Unfortunately, Tesla doesn't make an adapter for that, so you can either get a converter from Amazon or hire an electrician to replace it with a 14-50 or 6-50. (And obviously have it checked to be safe.)
https://www.amazon.com/Conntek-EV1050T-Adapter-compatible-Vehicles/dp/B00STD9SJY
(It may be cheaper to get a 6-50 plug and have your electrician change it out while he's at it.)
I have this one on my car, some people don’t like the idea of having the magnets because of the adhesive residue that it may leave (that you can clean easily on winter times or when you are ready to do so…) but for me it’s a must have because of the sag in the middle. I tried at least 4 or 5 different brands and designs on amazon but I found that one to be the best in terms of keeping the heat out of the car. Without it I would leave the A/C on at number 6 or 7 at 100F plus the feeling of burning my head, now that I have it installed I can feel the difference on my head and I can keep the car at # 2 or 3 on the AC and I still feel comfortable at 100F as well.

An Endurance Micro SD card and a USB-A card reader. They’re made for constant writing/overwriting for security and dash cams.
I use this card and this reader.
Very spacious. I can stand easily in most of it with a foot to spare. Only has one pocket. I would have preferred more but it's a minor gripe. I haven't had bad weather for it yet so I can't really weigh in on that yet. Hooked up to the Y beautifully but I have to say that with the roof of the Y being swooped so far back it would drain water towards the tent. From the research I did it seems like the best on the market so far. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MBJ6R4V?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I prefer to use an endurance micro-sd card that’s made for constant overwriting of security and dash cams. Toss it in a small card reader like this and nothings going anywhere.

No alignment tool, but I left the film on the contacting surface and made a hinge across the entire top of the screen with painters tape from the back of the screen to the front of the protector. Adding one more option to the list - I have THIS Camco 55448 one and it works great.
Also the TT-30 plug at campsites for RV's is only 110, not 220. It's going to be twice as good as a standard wall outlet - but don't expect more than that.

How easy are the covers to pop off? Can you do it with a single hand/without moving the trunk mat? I've been debating between the OEM ones or these organizers from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09289B1NX/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=AZZM80LUHF58L&psc=1
I know these don't have the top covers, but they would at least protect carpet in the cubby..
An electric griddle is unlikely to work directly off the car - too much power.
My recommendation would be to get something like this:

And recharge it from the car as needed. Note even the above won’t power a 1000+W electric griddle or tea kettle. You’d need something more like this to meet the power demands

You can still just cover the camera. It doesn’t require in-cabin video at this point. The only difference I’ve noticed is that it beeps at me when I pick up my phone, which is kind of a nice reminder to stop being stupid. Hoping this eventually replaces the steering nag 🤞🏻
I have one of these sliding covers on mine. Make sure to use this size, not the smaller ones sold elsewhere as they don’t fit properly.

Just put the 14-50 in a lockable box like they use at camp grounds, the ones with the flip up front. You can put a padlock on it to keep it from being opened if you don’t want to cut the breaker off. Realistically, no one is going to know about it to steal your electric.
Example: https://amazon.com/dp/B08549S8KK/
Use the industrial quality outlet, it’ll handle the extra use. See info here about the brands that make them:
https://www.seahurst.com/nema-14-50-tesla/
Think about RV parks, they see tons of use and hold up. Just don’t do the cheap ones from Home Depot.
Using the mobile charger outside is fine.
The only real issue is your local code may require the outdoor 14-50 be GFCI protected, but you don’t want that for the Tesla as it has its own. We put our vacation home outlet in the garage and run the charger cord out under the garage door.

It came ready to install out of the box. All I had to do was assemble it, (it is a 3 piece), apply some 3m double side auto tape for initial fitment (included with purchase), then screw into place.
A quick search on Amazon (where I found that picture), showed a similar rack/platform setup, but it had lower weight limits... Mine has a 500 pound limit before you apply the bike rack. The one I saw on amazon, says its a 300 pound limit for the platform, and 150 or something for the bike attachement.. Although thinking about the specs on the model Y, the Y has a 350 pound tongue weight limit... So I guess the one on Amazon should work for the Y.
Edit: I read the Amazon specs wrong... The 4 bike version has the above specs... The 2 bike one, says 400 and 80 pounds.

We don’t use PPF or Mudflaps, but the one thing I wish we learned early on which no one suggests. Get a screen protector that is oleophopic. We took a chance on this one from Amazon (Apeveo). It does a good job preventing finger prints and it’s only $20. On a side note we also bought the sunroof shade from Tesmanian before we tinted our sunroof. It’s a good option if you decide not to tint your roof

My MYLR with 20" inductions was recently in service for a Safety restraint warning system and since I had over 7000 miles on the car I put in for a tire rotation as well (manual says 6250 miles). The service center checked and there was no more than a 1/32 difference all around and they said they usually recommend 10,000 miles for a rotation. Just get a tread depth gauge and check every once in a while to see if there's a 2/32 inch difference ($6 for 2 on Amazon)

I too learned the hard way. Luckily I had 14-50 options at the time. I suspect during prime camping seasons the options that I had may not be available. So for others this one doesn't work either. For my next trip I will include a tt-30 adapter purchase from EVSE linked by u/mcowger.

Got them and they have 3rd row pieces but the trunk piece is not cut into 2. I mean it’s long piece which would be fine if your 3rd row is folded but when you open 3rd row then you have to roll it up and keep aside.
With no other option available right now, I went with these. Got them yesterday and they are good and strong. I might cut the trunk piece into half so that when I have to use 3rd row I can keep the half on the trunk.

Bought this, its fine. Big difference in the backseat for how little sun gets through. Clips easily fit in once you figure out how to slide it right. Lose about an inch in headroom in the center but you cannot really see it sagging from the glass.
Pain is taking it off is too much of a hassle, car is pretty much metal roof now. Really wish the Y had a power shade or electric tint like a venza.
I use this one on vacation. Used it probably 10 times, doesn't even warm up. Super heavy 10ga. Also good for outdoor power tools.

But this is not for normal household 110V - check the plug, it's at an angle. I have a NEMA 5-20 in the garage and use the NEMA 5-20 mobile adapter. It's 20 A at 110V (Tesla charges at 16)
Also use a paint gun like this one. The review with “works great” has a pic of the index cards I mentioned.
I wouldn’t do the roll up ones. I’d recommend a quality folding one. This is an example - no idea about quality but looks good!

You can def have a 14-50 and a wall connector. People sometimes don’t know all the facts. That is an adapter for the wiring in the wall connector into a 14-50. You would still need the 14-50 installed in your house though

Spoiler - RPM
It's been working well for me and I haven't had any issues yet with it! I'm still able to close the lid with the phone charging too which is nice.
Oh it’s just a thing I put on the console to make it white.

Yes I bought the one listed below. Those fingerprints are from vibrant lotions use with the dry air here in CO. The screen protector works great.
Thanks!
Got them off Amazon...quite a bit cheaper than tesla but I'm pretty happy with them so far.

I'm using this setup and it works well. I bought this SanDisk SSD and it comes with the cable you need to connect it to the car. The SSD itself works very well. Keep in mind that Sentry Mode doesn't always record when you think it should (see the occasional report of a car accident where no Sentry Mode even is recorded). In my experience it's been better than 95% accurate though so it is a good solution overall.
I was having bad luck with SD cards so decided to just go for the SSD. I know a lot of Tesla owners use the Samsung T5 (now T7) however I read some reviews of high temps so opted for SanDisk 500GB Extreme Portable External SSD - Up to 550MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.1 - SDSSDE60-500G-G25 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078SWJ3CF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_93mMFbVSY2E0K?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I’ve been happy thus far with no issues with sentry mode.

There are several YouTube links showing the technique.
Here you go. Easy to find black caps, but not black with machined-look silver instead of painted white. I'm very happy with these.

Lug caps have a satin finish and look a bit better on these than the matte ones that come with that cap kit. Nothing wrong with those though, I just happened to have a 2nd set laying around.
Looks fun :) also FYI there are screen covers for those people who camp. ROCCS Tesla Screen Protection Cover, Black Center Console Display Sleeve Protector Film Protector Tesla Model 3 Model Y https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07VGG559C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kr0JFbRJ5335Q
The kids and the dog are good in the back. Only my daughter is in a highback booster seat. Tried the rear seat covers, but it was so hard to buckle her in.
However, this seat covers works fine. Munchkin Auto Seat Protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001EM8I2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I’m using only one seat cover. It would be nice to have it all covered, but oh well.
You might want to try this : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HMENTSQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fab_lUNEFb0C3GY35 . It adjusts the angle of the Diono upwards to give the front passenger more room to slide the seat back. It’s also approved and made by Diono.
All a scam. I’m always surprised that people convince them selves that places like RPM have superior quality. It’s all coming out of China for the most part.
I have these in white and they’re wonderful. And only $20 without the ugly card holder area.
I live in the south so washing year round is fair game.
I’ve heard good things about this for winter time though.

SSD still seems unnecessary to me. I have this tiny combo in both Model 3s and they work great.
