Skipper died on my older kiddo's 4th birthday. We were planning a birthday party for him, so we tried really hard to put on happy faces despite the pain. My kiddo is starting to understand what happened, though. The other night I was reading him a bedtime story involving cats and I started to tear up. He gave me a hug, and unprompted said "Daddy, I miss Skipper too."

I think our other cats are grieving too. Pirate, who he treated like his own kiddo, has been super-affectionate lately.

Yes. Search for soft cone for cats. Our boy's sister got spayed and didn't like her Elizabethan collar, so we got her a recovery suit that still prevents her from licking her wounds. We had to safety pin it to her collar to keep her from Houdini-ing out of it. Works great.

I used a little suitical thing when my cat got spayed and it worked really well. I took her in wearing it so they would know how it went on. It wasn’t hard to do, but it was confusing the first time I saw it off the cat.

How big are your cats? We're minorly concerned about that because our cats are big. I'm looking at the ones that sound very similar to what you just described, which means I'm looking in the right direction. How often do you use it? I'm not sure how often we'd use it, we know we'd use it to take them to the vet at least.
