something like this exists, I've seen a few more on ebay.
https://www.amazon.com/Tema4x4-2003-2013-HIGHLANDER-2000-2013-2000-2007/dp/B07DH3BXYX
These are made specifically for the highlander
And these for the foglights
I have one of these with the 3rd row folded down, for my dog

I got this off Amazon when I bought my 2018 XLE.
PETICON Car Seat Cover for Dogs,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082WQRPDH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I have a little 25 lb dog that loves car rides but because the seats are leather, he slides right onto the floor any time I stop.
I like this cause it keeps him on the seats, it can protect the doors (I usually just tuck the side flaps down since he doesn't scratch the doors) and has the front zipper so when I travel with the cat, she can move between the from and back with no issue.
It clips around the headrests and is quick to remove when I have passengers.
Better to buy an adjustable sway bar link and set it to the correct length, rather thang use another adapter. https://www.amazon.com/Godspeed-SB-TR-130-12-Adjustable-Universal-200-260mm/dp/B074B51YQG/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=adjustable+sway+bar&qid=1619294668&sr=8-2
These are recommended by many on the HL groups/forums. Also have a key to lock them on.

I'd get rid of the license plate holder as well. Here's a nice alternative.
Don't sweat about wireless android auto/ carplay
Android: https://www.aawireless.io/
We are using these two on our 22 gas xle since we are a mixed family. Both have worked pretty good. Not perfect, but really good and convenient.
There's supposed to be some 2in1 solutions, but some comments made it seem those were more of a hazle.
The toyotanation.com forum has a thread or two on must-have options. There's also instructions on removing the Qi charger if you find it doesn't work very well, as well as an organizer.
This is it, I think: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CYRM5VV/
I went with these over the OEM because of price and still got good ratings. I avoided all the Thule and Yakima bars because I personally don't think they look as nice and I don't need all the flexibility of turning it into a bike rack or snow sport equipment. Just needed something I can occasionally put a cargo box on. I went with the Thule Motion XL box, picking it up this weekend from REI.
Hey! Yes I ended up getting this:
It's not exactly what I wanted, since it doesn't go all the way up, but It's worth it for sure. most of the time my dog stays behind it. I actually use this for anything that could get the trunk dirty and just shake it out when done. for example, just brought home a bunch of firewood, and had not mess to clean up.
If I can find some sort of grate that can mount between the seats, along with this thing, I'm set.
Yeah that center console is also idiotic and the charger doesn't work for me either, I have a OP9 and mi wife has an iPhone 13 pro.
I got ourselves one of this, working pretty good as well. I have the suction cup attached to the inner side of the sentar consoló, next to the USB ports. Which is not the ideal location, but couldn't figure out a better positioning where the suction cup would attach.

Pretty much the same exact thing happened to our family with our 2018 Highlander. Start/Stop activated and it wouldn't turn the car back on. Battery was bad, that's all. Thankfully, I always carry one of these in the car. I was able to jump start it and get it going again to get home and replace the battery. This was the original battery from brand new, so the battery lasted about 4 years, however hotter weather will wear batteries down faster.
You would think the engineering that goes into this system would be able to tell not to shut the car off if the battery is starting to lose a charge, but apparently not. Now I immediately turn Start/Stop off as soon as I start the car. I don't trust it.
I have one of this tiny pieces of tech hooked up to my 2022 Highlander Hybrid, and it works like a charm and makes the Apple CarPlay wireless.

This is what I got for my 2015 highlander and it works great. Sounds good and the screen is huge. I want to customize it since it is android but I got lazy and it works just fine.

The draining part with the plastic plug was np, got that done.
I actually ordered that Tool Guy tool and it is sitting at my house.
I put new oil in without changing the filter and pretty soon will tackle removing the filter.
I ordered a metal housing to replace that plastic one....looks like it should be the same, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008BHP68A?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details
Thanks!
Go to the dealer and get a new housing before continuing. It may have been damaged beyond the fins.
The fins aren’t important for changing the oil, you can get a tool that only has the flat section like this - https://www.amazon.com/Tool-Guy-Republic-Vanadium-Housings/dp/B01B8O0BFU/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=3V8KRQKPMJX9I&keywords=toyota+oil+filter+tool&qid=1659501510&sprefix=toyota+oil+filter+%2Caps%2C137&sr=8-4
I use this one - ARES 56012-64mm Oil Filter Wrench for Toyota, Lexus, and Scion 2.0 to 5.7 Liter Engines - 3/8-Inch Drive - Easily Remove Oil Filters
Get the filter and new drain plug washer from your dealer, they are the cheapest and it’s a great filter. Mine charges something like $6.
Then, use the bayonet plastic thing to drain the filter of oil from the center drain under that cap, takes a minute. Then take off the filter housing. Replace both o-rings. Replace the oil drain gasket as well.
Good luck.
I have both Android and iPhones at home. Is a hit or miss from my experience, ended up getting this one.

Have the suction cup attached to the inside of the center console right below the air vents.
I use these: Magnetic Phone Car Mount, WizGear... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G0X56YU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I put one on the left vent and another one on the left passenger vent to allow the passenger the same convenience (navigation, etc). I close the vent when using it to keep my phone battery from draining. I just can’t stand things suctioned in my line of sight or above the dashboard.
Here is what I use. Short arm, simple design, good adjustment. Just bought a new one and really dialed in the placement now.

I have this one in our Sienna and our HL. I tried a few different ones and expected this to be junk but it's held up really well and works great for different phones.
Yes, we have the panoramic sunroof and we also got the roof rack pre-installed. I bought this thing for our road trip, and it worked great! https://www.amazon.com/SportRack-Vista-Opening-Cargo-Black/dp/B00BCLL8C0?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
You can see it through the sunroof, but if it bothers you, you can always close the shade. I think I closed the shade about 3/4 of the way and I couldn't see any of the cargo carrier. Hope that helps!
I haven't had an issue with my '17, but I did a quick search on Amazon and found this.
Let us know how you make out - others may benefit.
Gotcha. Just fishing for ideas that I may not have thought of. I think I may go this route for my dad’s Suzuki. It has even worse aftermarket support than these Highlanders if you can believe it.
I put one of these in mine. This idea wasn’t an easy find...
Does your 2020 not have the little hidden area to put a tow hook in?
My 2019 XLE didn't come with one but I bought a tow hook that I can screw in when needed. The hook access is hidden in the grill
I’m using this one, also in a 2022. It’s not perfect but it works. Disconnects when we hit a bump too hard and connecting takes longer than I’d like. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KH4RL2T?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_W02BS6Q66RRB7QP6ZZ5H

The capacity of the air filter is honestly much higher than you may think as they’re designed to be run for 30k miles. Especially for the amount of gas your hybrid is burning in that period, 30k is honestly overkill.
If you were stuck driving in dusty conditions daily you’d want to replace it every 15-20k miles, but no need to change early in your scenario.
If you insist, it’s WIX WA10807 https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B006G4HXBI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_48M9H950EPDW7F4CA7A6
Actual wrong, sorry in the 2022 the multimedia port is still usb a, the charging ports are usb c. So to play audio imagine it would have to be connected to the usb a multimedia port. Let us know if that works.
Incidentally I found that when I had the CarPlay wireless adapter plugged in there all the time that it would stop my wife iPhone using Bluetooth so idk let us know.
We tried this and I was super amped for it, unfortunately the sloping of the ceiling and the height in the back wouldn't allow it to work.
We opted for a simple net that anchors to the captains chair head rests and the bottom rails. Our 65lbs husky found his way around it when we stopped for too long but otherwise its enough to defer them from trying to come up into second row.
I don't have one on my '18 Highlander, but I did have one on my previous Honda. Here's my thoughts:
It was a convenience place to mount a couple extra lights, and it improved the front end aesthetics dramatically. That's it. Served no other purpose. It'd have folded into the front end like paper if there'd ever been a collision, but in a couple places where people bumped it backing up in parking spaces, it might've saved a little paint scuff.
Since the Highlander looks good as-is, and I'm happier with the lighting, I haven't even bothered with the though. I don't like losing ground clearance, and the tuck-under style brushguards that the Highlander require sacrifice a few inches undercarriage clearance to bolt up. So if you like loud scraping noises, there you go, brushguard's great for entering driveways and parking lots, but personally I do not miss that at all.
If you want to mount a little lightbar for extra lighting, there's easier/cheaper ways, like this little guy that bolts on using your license plate holder up front. It'll give you about the same level of protection (none) but be a little less gaudy and easier to install for sure.
https://www.amazon.com/Stoplock-Pro-Steering-Wheel-Immobiliser/dp/B003S51WII/
I personally use a disklok:
I have also installed a battery disconnect. And I will likely install a hidden starter kill switch as well.
Good idea to install catalytic converter theft deterrent shields.
If you are in a bad area, do not use the keyfob to lock or unlock the vehicle. Better to keep the fob in a radio-opaque container and lock and unlock the doors manually.
You can also tinker with things like removing critical relays or fuses, which only a REALLY knowledgeable and highly determined thief would mess with. Disconnecting an alternator cable is also a very clever way to outsmart a car thief, bc the car will start, but they'll only get like a block away before the car dies, and it likely won't start again because the batter will have been significantly discharged. Only viable if the thief doesn't see you do it, but then again, a lot of car thieves are pretty dumb.
Wheel locks are ok, but most serious wheel thieves keep an array of wheel lock keys just so they can remove them. I have, in the past, put all different wheel locks on every single stud, per wheel. This making removing the wheels incredibly laborious. Makes removing all the wheels with a floor jack and an impact driver go from a 1 minute job to a 15 minutes job. Not perfect, but a helluva lot better odds of making some fucker move on to greener pastures.
The only kind of effective, serious safety is layered safety.

We have one dog, around 50lbs. A review specifically mentioned Highlander captain seats.
You can grab a downloadable version of your manual here that lists all the needs of your 2GR-FE 3.5 L V6.
From what I'm seeing on Page 638:
Spark Plug = Denso FKR20HR11 Gap = 0.043 in. (1.1 mm)
First question. Why?
Second question. Why not use an Add-a-Fuse tap to an always-on circuit, and a hidden add-on 12v accessory socket instead?
Cleaner and out of sight to run your dash cam system, I'm... wildly assuming.
I have this mounted next to the gear shift on the driver side. It’s low, but works perfectly. I then use a cable to plug it into the USB port so I can use Apple play.

Have you tried just using CarPlay or Android Auto? I used to use a phone mount in my last car all the time but after getting my new Highlander I found it way easier to just plug the phone in and leave it on the middle shelf, seeing everything through Android Auto. Much cleaner that way too.
Otherwise, I was using this mount and really liked it. Very solid and versatile.

They are fantastic. Dogs, kids, camping. My seats are still pristine. They fit really well. I just slid them on and didn't buckle the bottom clip.
not sure you're going to see this for a highlander in the US, it's too much a soccer mom, suburban oriented car.
have you considered these https://www.amazon.com/Rightline-Gear-100660-Original-Shark/dp/B07JMTVP9N ?
Ya!!
Those little guys hide points for bolts to cinch down rack rails (they sit on little rubber pads to prevent scraping), then your roof top carrier attaches to those cross bars.
I got these off Amazon for pretty cheap as I only have them attached once a year for camping.

Yes nothing to remove. You should take a look at a few how to videos. At a minimum, all you need is a hair dryer to heat it, then credit cards and other plastic objects to smooth the wrap. It’s What I have on my 2018.
Interesting dilemma. When I pick up my 2021 Highlander Hybrid, I guess I will have to deal with this too. I have always used a Bracketron metal bracket that attached to the side of the radio(yes, some disassemble required). I had one in my 2004 Element and in my 2008 Wrangler. I just looked and it doesn't appear that they make them for Highlanders. I put this in my Sprinter Campervan and it stays stuck and works well: https://www.amazon.com/Nato-Smart-Mount-Magnetic-Universal/dp/B01MZ4W4KD My phone is Android so I am going with Android Auto so not sure if I will need to actually see my phone or if the console screen will be good enough. This is the mount I use in my Accord. It’s great because it’s mounted but doubles as a wireless charger. Between work and the gym it’s a life saver making sure I get a charge in the car. I haven’t had the need for a charging one in the Highlander as we just got ours, but I did see one that is nested in the shelf, although I’m not sure if the shelf is in gen one.

You could easily add a powerport that is always on. wire it straight to the battery (with a fuse inline of course!). I also think it's idiotic there isn't a 12v socket in the cargo area. Something like this could be wired up easily. https://www.amazon.com/Ginsco-Cigarette-Lighter-Splitter-Motorcycle/dp/B01B79F8CW/
Rear cargo light- there's a small wimpy one on the right side at about waist level. I added 2 small LEDs to the actual hatch interior panel that is tied into the dome lights. When the hatch is open, it provides really good lightning into the cargo area, and the ground so you can see what you're doing.
If you don’t mind occupying a vent you can get a magnet mount that simply clips to the vent and the phone will sit nicely flush and supported by the dash trim. You can do one on either side of the driver and even one for your passenger.

Only complaint I saw about it was from those saying it sticks out to far, but its really not that big a deal and I actually like it because I can step on it to get a better view of the roof when washing the car
Cool I’m planning to buy the generic one so I can use the bike stand on it. OEM is like $450 bucks and don’t have that in my budget
